We really enjoyed our pre-theater dinner at Trumbull Kitchen. Our server Devin was outstanding, food was delicious and both food and drink choices were numerous. Would love to go again!
We decided to eat at the bar and based on the bartender’s excellent recommendations we had 3 appetizers as our meal (which was more than enough food). Each item was tasty and well presented. Entrees looked great too based on people around us. They also had a nice selection of beers and wine by the glass. And the bartender spent a good amount time with us despite it being a busy Saturday night. We will definitely go back.
We enjoyed a great lunch before a UCONN Women's basket ball game across the street. Wide selection of food available, courteous staff.
I will say that the customer service at this restaurant was great!! We arrived a little late for our reservations and they still sat us right away. The waitress who was in training was very attentive and when there was an issue with our food was clearly trying to resolve it as well as the waitress training her. However, that was about all that was great. The noise level in this restaurant was so high that we could not even hear each other speak at times, as the bar is an open concept into the dining room, and there was a large after work/before a hockey game crowd in the bar. We ordered the Asian lettuce cups appetizer that took over 30 minutes to come out. We had informed the waitress to cancel the order and just bring our dinner because we wouldn't have time to eat both before our show. The manager brought them over soon after and informed us they would be taken off our bill. Thankfully, because they were inedible. They smelled like dirty feet and tasted awful. Our meals came out at the same time which were fresh and hot, but really lacking. I had the seafood pad thai; the vegetables and seafood were really fresh, but the sauce was bland. My Mom ordered the pumpkin crusted fish over mashed potatoes with sofrito. The fish was great. The sofrito was great but paired together was not good. Cold sofrito with horrible mashed potatoes with huge chunks of onion in them and warm fish did not pair well. I will not be returning.
Appreciate my request for a quieter table being addressed. As always, everything was fantastic.
Outstanding service and the food was fresh and very tasty.
Great presentation .
UCONN pregame lunch
Always a favorite in downtown Hartford. Consistently great food and service. I hadn't been there in a while, but I love that they've added a "Test Kitchen" section to their menu. My husband and I tried the goat cheese toast, and if I didn't *have* to have the Chiang Mai curried noodles (which I am compelled to order every. single. time I go there), we'd have tried more. Next time. . .!
Dinner and a Show
Great cocktails. Loved the cranberry margarita. EXCELLENT service. Our waiter was incredible.
The filet mignon app was exceptional. Almost got another serving for dinner lol.
All the food was delicious. Hanger steak was definitely something I’d get again.
I like Trumbull Kitchen but 35 to 40 minutes for 3 hamburgers, even on a busy day, is ridiculous. Especially for people trying to fit a visit there into their lunch hour.
Service, cocktails, and food was exemplary, as always. Mary is phenomenal- very attentive and personable !
It was wonderful.
Apps, small plates, new creations - food is always great & fun, great beer list, cool ambiance, and always super service (Rebecca on Saturday).
Picked this place for a nice dinner for my family of 4 for an upscale stop on a road trip. Needed gluten free options (they had tons!) The service was friendly and welcoming, the scene was trendy and the food amazing! Filet minion with tater tots and Gorgonzola sauce was the family favorite. My car of grumpy travelers were quickly transformed back into their happy selves with this perfect spot! We just found our new holiday travel tradition!
Our waiter was over the top. Offered to try an get a special made item for lunch. Work with us to make sure our party was happy. His outstanding personality and sense of humor worked well with us. He is truly an asset to your Company.
Trumbull Kitchen has become our go-to restaurant for dinners in downtown Hartford. There are so many pluses to leaving West Hartford and heading here. Parking is easy and available and we almost always end up with a spot on the street. The bar is vibrant and fin and when we ask to try "something different and out of the box" we always get something brand new to us, something we had either never heard of or would never have thought about ordering.
Lots of restaurants throw around the term, Asian-fusion, but the nice thing about Trumbull Kitchen is so many of their appetizers are Asian influenced and the Chef has some great takes on classic dishes. The wonderful thing about bringing guests is the variety on the menu. There are so many different directions we can go which is always great when you bring new people.
The service is always first class and particularly good. Our servers always are on point when it comes to beer or wine suggestions and it is so nice when multiple servers are bringing the food or drinks and we are not waiting for one person.
The entrees are all under $30.00 and the desserts are worth ordering.
My husband and I met friends from out of state to celebrate our anniversary. Our server was very nice and extremely attentive. Our meals were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. I will definitely return!
Was there with friends for dinner prior to a show. Food and service very good. They prepared a special entrée that was not on the dinner menu
Hands-down the best restaurant in Hartford. I’m not just saying this because I love the feeling of nostalgia I get from memories of when I worked at the original civic café. The food really is awesome and my family loves to go there . I think I’ve celebrated my last three birthdays their among many other times throughout the year. Keep up the good work guys stay right there don’t go anywhere. Make sure you tell the cooks staff and all the way to the dishwasher that it can’t happen without them! You guys rock! Peace and love from, Antoine Smith and family original Hartford native
Celebrated our Anniversary with our teenage boys as well. Great atmosphere, accomodated our kids' special requests, seated us early, great service, timely, and lovely desserts. Food was delicious, specials were amazing, we were very full and happy!! Lovely downtown staple, we are never disappointed.
My hotel recommended this spot and I am so glad I went. Creative dishes and nice atmosphere. Good service too!
Pre-show gathering. Server was great, nice upbeat atmosphere. Would go again.
The service was noticeably slow.
Always was a favorite place in past of all Max restaurants but disliked new menu. Greasy food & although server was sweet didn’t know anything about beers on tap & seemed pretty green
Fantastic meal. We came into town to meet some friends for the weekend and opted to come here for dinner. Both the bartender Amy and server LaToya went out of their way to make our dinner experience enjoyable. I would recommend 100% for anyone looking for a great meal with great people!!
Service was very slow. We told our server we were in a hurry, but we waited a very long time for just entrees. Manager came over to apologize, but server basically disappeared.
Great dinner in Hartford! We took advantage of their restaurant week menu and were not dissapointed. Ordered the polenta fries, flank steak (yum!) and the almond financier desert. My date had the green salad, halibut and chocolate cake. All good!
Food was delicious, ambiance was great, service wonderful. Overall, a great experience.
Greats food and drinks. The crispy pork shank was awesome! Nice beer list as well. Would go back!!
Great dining experience. Did not have the first 3 bottles of wine we chose but then got it right on the 4th.
server was very good .
Love this place. Huge event this visit so it was very very loud. Staff was not on the ball this visit. Other wise I love this place. Food is always exceptional
Someone should have told us when the reservation was made that they would not offer a full menu due to an event at the xl center. The staff was extremely busy and not particularly attentive to our table at all.
Good food but restaurant was not prepared for pre concert cword. They were running way behind on reservations and way behind on food orders.
Food was different and very good. We went before an event at the XL Center, so they were busy, but food came out promptly, hot and delicious. Very attentive wait staff
First visit.. it was fabulous!
Staff was courteous and friendly.
The food was incredible!
Great meal! Varied menu - all was delicious! Would definitely recommend !
One of my favorites!"...............................".......................
I thought Trumball was great. WE tried their octopus, shrimp and shrimp fritters(yum!), fig and prosciutto pizza - all so good! And I really loved their take on the gimlet! We had a great time and Dylan remembered all of our names! LOL
Once again it was a fun time at The Trumbull Kitchen; had our favorite waiter Johnny who always provides exemplary service. Food was excellent and a wonderful start to an afternoon at the Bushnell. Good to see the general manager Dave. Food arrived in a timely manner; hot and plentiful. Looking forward to the next time!
