A great casual restaurant to take my family prior to a show. The staff was courteous and knowledgeable, the food was delicious, the environment was inviting. Will definitely be back!
When you just about think Trumbull Kitchen could not get any better; they deliver over the top! This past Saturday--they were outrageously wonderful. From the moment they opened, with the warm and gracious greeting from Dave, to Johnny being our waiter--our sweet potato shrimp fritter appetizers being served hot and fresh by Steven--to our Salmon Caesar Salads. . . everything was just perfect Of course, the chilled Sauvignon Blanc added that extra special touch. Trumbull Kitchen is a wonderful asset of the Max group; they always go the extra mile to ensure that the exceed your expectations! We had a wonderful meal and time! Thanks so much!
Going to see a show at the Bushnell
Amazing food and service! The rock shrimp fritters are amazing
Food is aways great and consistent. Servers are great. Hosts are great.
Dinner for four old friends. Nice upscale, yet not pretentious atmosphere. Our server, Chris, was very helpful with the menu choices. He was well versed on the ingredients and portions and his assistance was appreciated by all. Drink choices were excellent. The two guys went on the Mezcal end of the spectrum. The women went the wine side. We liked the option for 6 or 9 ounce pours. Entrees were very good. Nice development of flavor.
Overall a very good experience. We will return.
Food was delicious, drinks were fabulous. And service was spot on. Only complaint was the smell of dirty mop water when you entered the restaurant, between the two doors. It wasn't very pleasant. TK is a favorite, we will be back!
The salmon was moist and delicious and the swordfish special was flavorful and seasonal with the yummy addition of ramps. The cookie dessert and the chocolate meringue torte were desserts you dream about days later. Our waitress was very accommodating and pleasant. Our dining experience was fabulous!
Our experience was terrific from the time we arrived. We were seated in a great table with a nice view outside. The service was fantastic and personable. We had a great dinner and the recommendations from our server were spot on. All in all it was a great experience.
This was a celebration for my daughter's college graduation and TK gave us an outstanding table that was ready for us when we arrived. Our server was just okay, but the food runner was excellent. We had to continue to ask her to refill our water glasses which was a pain. I ordered the chicken lettuce wraps that had a horrific smell to them. We ate them & they tasted okay, but I could not wait for that plate to go back to the kitchen. I actually asked the runner to take it back to the kitchen because it was so smelly. Our dinner were just okay. I had the cobb salad that had very little lettuce in it, but was still tasty. Lastly, we ordered ice cream sandwich which was good, but the cookies we SO HARD that it was extremely hard to eat. The night was still good & nothing was that bad, but it wasn't at the usual Max level. Thank you.
Busy before event at XL center. Waiter mixed our food up with table next to us. Had to wait for lost meal. Food was good
To start, I ordered a prosecco. Simple enough, right? The carafe it was poured from looked as though there were blood spatters in it. For an appetizer, we ordered the shrimp & burrata toast. The shrimp was raw. The entrée I chose was chicken, arugula and pasta. The chicken was pre-seared "Purdue" style, disgusting and rubbery. We did talk to the manager and he was gracious enough. He removed my entrée and the prosecco. First and last time I will EVER go there. STAY AWAY!
ALWAYS consistently delish! ALWAYS!! Our go-to spot before a play at Hartford Stage.
Had an enjoyable evening and the food was excellent. Our waitress was extremely nice and made our time very enjoyable.
Nice and cozy place in downtown Hartford. Though the city was quiet on a Tuesday evening, Trumbull Kitchen was lively. The staff helped connect me with my guest. I was a little annoyed by the noise level and the fact that I didn't have mobile service (AT&T) when I was at the table that would have helped me stay in touch more easily with my guest. The staff offered their phone, so that was nice.
The food was delicious. I had a nice red wine with my duck breast. They got the order correct even with my alterations. I'd go back the next time I'm in Hartford.
Staff was very nice but food arrived cold and was not very good. Short ribs was mostly fat, drinks were just ok. Disappointing.
Love TK. Always have a great dining experience here. Excellent location, superb food and great atmosphere.
Always an enjoyable experience at Trumbull Kitchen! The food is fabulous, the waitstaff is friendly and helpful and the vibe is upscale casual. You won’t be disappointed!
The food is delicious but the service was slow and slightly rude. They forgot to bring bread.
Our choices from the salad, small plates, and entree and dessert (one of each) were served quickly before our show at the Bushnell. Food was great, and just the right size as we couldn’t take home leftovers.
Great creative and delicious appetizers w/a Latin flair. Terrific service from host to team of waiters. Fun option for tapas dinner prior to Hartford Stage or XL Center event if you go for Happy Hour til 7, good prices and quality.
Amazing tapas dishes.
We dined at Trumbull Kitchen last Sunday night, as a pre-theater dinner before going to The Bushnell. We've always wanted to try it, so made a late afternoon res - the restaurant has a great, cool vibe, with a nice bar area, & communal tables in the front section. We were seated in the back section, where it was nice & quiet. The service was wonderful, with the hosts & our waitress very attentive & helpful.
Our drinks were great - a perfect dirty martini for my husband, & delicious Spring sangria for me. My husband loves octopus, so ordered the grilled octopus as an appetizer - unfortunately, it was chewy, so pretty disappointing. His smoked roasted lamb entree was cooked perfectly, though, & he really enjoyed it. My scallop "ravioli" with lobster sauce, was another story - the scallops were grilled perfectly, & delicious, but the cheese in the deconstructed ravioli had a funny taste, & the lobster sauce was just plain awful.
We both ordered cappucinos, & they were great, strong & hot, but the caramel creme brulee we shared left alot to be desired - it was overcooked, so tasted more like baked egg then custard.
We are hoping we just hit the kitchen on an off night, but if we return to Trumbull Kitchen it will only be for drinks.
much too loud
hard to hear to have a conversation
food was ok but pricey
Excellent food and service. Requested a quiet table and had a perfect spot! Would go back in a flash!
Great atmosphere and food was good. However would recommend a better French Fry. Steak & mushrooms were fabulous but fries left a lot to be desired. Suggest steak fries or crinkle cut.
We had an awesome time with friends. The food was great, our server (Melissa) was great, and we loved the atmosphere - busy enough to be fun, quiet enough to be able to talk and enjoy the evening. We’ll be going back for sure!
My wife and I had dinner at TK before a show at The Bushnell. We only stopped in for burgers and beer. The burgers were fantastic and cooked exactly to order. They also had a very nice beer selection. We will definitely be back again for a more extensive dinner in the future.
Four of us ate here for a birthday dinner. Not your typical food choices- very gourmet. Everyone loved their entrees- duck, pressed chicken, chicken stone pie, and scallops with ravioli. Service was excellent. 1/2 off all bottles of wine, which was awesome. We will be back
Food and service is great.
Apparently TK (Max's) still considers loud music an important aspect to dining.
We have eaten here several times and have been seated in the rear. This time we were offered a window seat and soon realized the volume level of music, guests, servers was a bit too much. My mistake.
Other than the ambiance, wine was good, apps and dinner (duck & Pad Thai ) were prepared perfectly. Forgetting I had ordered the "waffled" carrot cake on a previous visit, I was disappointed again. The term "carrot cake" should be deleted.....waffle with ice cream is a better description. Menu needs to be renewed.
Food was wonderful and our server made the time there really special. Would visit again next time I’m in town.
The food was not very good. Our party ordered pad thai, both seafood and vegetarian, hangar steak, grilled chicken pasta, and grilled angus cheese burger, among other dishes, with fries and various drinks, and although the presentation was OK it wasn't appealing, and the flavoring was heavy on a few spices but without much depth. It was all pricey, without giving us a sense that we were eating well. Our servers were friendly, courteous and helpful, and the restaurant itself is attractive and with attentive maitre d' and other staff. As the restaurant filled up the noise level got too high. I would not recommend Trumbull Kitchen to anyone.
It had been a while since we ate here and the experience was just as positive as we remembered. Really really nice.
Everything from the food, the service, the atmosphere and our server was awesome. This was our 2nd time here in less than a week, and it gets better and better each time... might have to go a third time!!!
I have been here quite a few times. And everything was great.
Quality of food this trip was poor.
Service was extremely slow.
Always a sure bet for a good meal and good service!
The restaurant was packed! People were having a great time. It was so loud. In retrospect I should have chosen a quieter place.
I had the roasted cauliflower salad with grilled chicken. The chicken and cauliflower were very good. The greens in my salad all had long stems which are not very easy to eat politely. My companion had the shaved brussel sprouts salad and fish tacos. The brussel sprouts were very bitter. The fish tacos were great.
The server was super busy but she took care of us graciously.
Lively and casual. Loved the sundried feta-cream cheese spread with bread and crisps. We enjoyed the Shrimp Cobb salad - excellent! Apple crisp for dessert - delicious!
Nice selection of special drinks too - highly recommend the Ginger Gimlet!
The wait time was too long.
