Arrived early for a 9 Pm date night reservation.
Sat at bar and order two drinks ($40) and had to sit there while bartender stared at us as if they didn’t want us there.
We went to nice table by the window. Sean? Was our server and he was polite and knowledgeable but he looked very unkept, end of a double I guess. Ordered two apps one was good, but the crab cake was severely burnt. Requested and received another and it came out more quickly and was fine. Courses took forever. Wedge salad was oK. My wife had scallops that looked weighted (Smashed) and overcooked. I tried one and they were rubbery (sign of being over cooked). I ordered the bone in filet with some sort of mushroom sauce on top. It was ordered MR and the side away from the bone was MW. It was MR in center but next to bone was raw. I was over it at this point. I order a Wagu filet for $93 at RPM steak and never had a better steak. They charged me $73 for this very disappointing item. Broccoli ordered as side was cold and flavorless. Crab fried rice, which I was excited about was awful. The rice was crunchy and undercooked or old.
Dessert was tray was less than impressive. I ordered the sampler which had creme brûlée bc my wife loves that.
All the desserts were cold and pre made and disappointing.
I order a tawny port instead.
Things I thought were positive:
The greeting we received from host and manager
The live music was a nice touch.
The following phone call/ voicemail (albeit unanswered) was nice.
We left disappointed wondering what we just spent $530 on? ($60 at bar and $470 for dinner with Tip)
Needless to say we won’t be back. You should actually close at 9 on Sunday because the restaurant felt like it was closing as we arrived and our food and other things reflected that...after all the manager slammed and locked the door once we were just two feet outside.
Not as good as when they first opened, but ok.
Celebrating My Birthday, Previewed the Menu prior to dining chose the Miso Chilean Sea Bass - Delicious- loved the Salt and Pepper Calamari for a starter very good. I would highly recommend dining at Truluck.
The seafood tower was very underwhelming.
Excellent experience all around. Service, food, and ambiance were on point! Highly recommend for any occasion.
Exceptional service and attention to detail. Excellent food.
No better host than Jimmy. He encapsulates hospitality at its finest from Alpha to Omega, he has passion for his work and it shows.
I had the salmon béarnaise, it was a little overcooked but the sauce hid it well. My guests had scallops which were cooked to perfection & also the prime rib which also was amazing. The service was superb, our server Sam was a delight & very helpful in helping us decide what to order. Our drinks were perfect. Will cone back again when in town.
Not worth what they charged for A New Years celebration.
We were there early after they opened. Came in cab. Bell boys didn’t bother to open door, they were to busy playing on their phones. Ladies bathroom had no toilet paper Evening just kept going down.
Everything was awesome staff, food, scenery just amazing!
Exquisite cuisine and service!!!!!! Love this restaurant!!
Very enjoyable evening. The food was outstanding, the server Max was attentive and the live music in the background made for the perfect ambiance.
One of the best experiences I’ve ever had. It was my first wedding anniversary. The restaurant did knew about it in advance. The food was great the hospitality was on the next level. At the end they served us dessert which was on the house ! Little expensive but worth it !
Great restaurant!!! One of the best in Chicago. Seafood and steaks are all "go to's"!! Really really good, and prices are typical. Seafood tower is great. Sam was our waiter, awesome guy! Love this place!!
We had Blake as our server. He was amazing. Took great care of us. It was our first time there and we loved it and will definitely be back! Made our night!
One of the best dining experiences I've ever had !!! Such great attentive service !
We had a wonderful meal at Trucluck's on Christmas Eve. The food, service and ambiance was great on a very busy night. The sea bass, scallops and filet were outstanding.
we had a great dinner and were treated so well. It was Christmas eve and they went out of their way to make a special dinner.
Our waiter was fantastic!!
Been before. Very nice experience. King Crab legs were amazing. Little flute of Champagne upon seating is always a nice touch.
Food was well prepared and everyone enjoyed their meal. We had problems with a mixup in a couple of drink orders but they were rectified quickly. One in our party did not get their to go bag with their leftovers, probably an oversight by the busboy as everyone else got their leftovers. When we asked to split the check a certain way and gave our waiter specific instructions he did the opposite of what was requested. Again he fixed it quickly but there was no excuse for it to occur in the first place.
The bar area is great for drinks either before or after dinner.
The server added items to our bill that were not ours; we caught the mistake and they were removed. But, really unacceptable.
Much more troubling, the manager has decided to only accept chip cards meaning that Truluck’s will not accept gift cards. Would not even tap in the numbers- reason enough to avoid this restaurant.
Chicago has many other excellent choices.
Always the best.
Service was awful. We waited over an hour to order. Other tables had same complaint. Good thing we have been to this restaurant several times both here and in California or we won’t go back.
An overbearing rude table ruined our dinning experience. The restaurant would do nothing to stop it. After complaining to them three times they moved us from the preferred wine room to a table in the rear of them restaurant. No mention of any apologies from them. A better restaurant would have at least offered us dessert for our ruined evening. Luckily the lounge after dinner was perfect.
The service is great since you enter the restaurant, great food and great service, great music.
Exceptional service from the moment we walked in the door. Staff could not have been more gracious. The food was excellent. Our booth was located adjacent to the bar area where live performance was going on. Perfect spot.
Service was outstanding, food was delicious and perfectly prepared
