Absolutely delicious! Our waiter Chris was phenomenal!
Wonderful live music and ambiance! Went during restaurant week so it was extremely busy and noisy. Food was warm and waiter was too busy talking to other guests. One surprisingly odd fact is that they provide smaller portions for the restaurant week menu. I’m willing to patronize again during a less busy time.
Service was FANTASTIC!!!!! Absolutely fantastic. The food for the price was meh! There are better seafood options in the city for half the price.
Franklin and Regina’s service was beyond attentive to our request. The food selections and quality of the food was world renowned. The crab selections are from New Zealand and South Africa were two that we enjoyed. The wine selections the sommelier has chosen will not disappoint. Excellent restaurant and service!
Great experience. Our server, Jaime, was the absolute best! She made sure our experience was perfect. We have to say, the hype is real - this our new favorite restaurant in DC!
THE FOOD AND DRINKS WERE AMAZING. 10/10. LOVED IT !
Too expensive but the atmosphere, seating and food was all good.
The Dining experience was great. I partook in the Resturant week menu options and the lobster bisque was amazing and my steak was cooked perfectly! I also ordered the crab fried rice for the table which was very tasty. The chocolate cake and carrot cake were both very delicious. My waitress Pam was very nice, quick, and attentive. I will be visiting again.
Our server, I believe his name was Franklin, was truly delightful. He answered all of our questions and gave excellent recommendations!
Great place! I would definitely recommend. The food we tried was delicious!
My husband and I decided to try this restaurant during Restaurant Week. The special menu options looked like something we would both enjoy. Once we got to the restaurant, our covid vaccines were checked and we were sat down immediately. Our waiter was PHENOMENAL! He was polite, friendly, personable and knowledgable of all the menu options! His recommendations were superb! We had the stone crab claws (medium) which were so tasty! The oysters were meaty and briny with a hint of sweetness (just how I like them)! The lobster bisque is a must have! My husband ended up getting a bone on ribeye that was seasoned and cooked to perfection! I ordered the lobster that was on special and it was the best lobster I have ever eaten! We also had their carrot cake for dessert and OH MY! The wine we were served, was a Riesling that paired perfectly with my meal. My husband has an old fashion that he spoke highly about. I recommend that you visit this restaurant and ask for Vafa as yur server!
Make sure you’re ready to splurge because we did not get the restaurant week special and our bill was pretty hefty, but definitely worth it!
Had a great dinner, Aisha provided 5 star service and the Singer on piano was fabulous!
Restaurant Week - meal was exceptional.
Great starter choices - the Caesar salad was amazing, great dressing, great croutons, anchovies, and was as large as a meal. My wife got the lobster bisque - it was a cup not a bowl but was outstanding with large chuncks of lobster - served tableside.
Entrees - we both got the filet - cooked perfectly, reasonably sized, and great mashed potatoes accompanied.
Desserts - were amazing we got a carrot cake - awesome caramel topping with excellent carrot cake. My wife got the chocolate cake - amazingly moist - superb.
It was our anniversary so they provide a baked Alaska gratis ... it was also exceptional.
We loved it and will go back for another meal in the near future
Pam was our server - she was excellent!
Food was amazing. Angie (our server) was amazing. I am so happy I picked this place. The birthday girl was very impressed. Thank you guys. Keep it up!
Washington, DC Location
My Initial observation of the restaurant’s ambiance was cute yet cozy. I felt comfortable conversing without my mask on and everyone was required to show proof of vaccination.
I was really excited to try this location in DC, because the one at home in Chicago is Phenomenal.
After ordering appetizers, I immediately knew my service for the evening was going to be lack luster. My partner who ordered his Meatball Appetizer 10-15 mins after I ordered my crab cake got his order before I received mine; and for $22 my 4oz crab cake was cold and likely only 2.5oz.
I was excited to see the waitress at the next table present her party with the Specials and high end selections for the day on a platter going into detail about each item. My waitress dropped menus at the table and came back and asked was I ready to order. I even asked about any specials for the evening and was told we only have a cowgirl ribeye…so disappointed, but I didn’t complain. Entrees came out fairly quickly but surprisingly they were on the cooler side. As if they were sitting waiting to be picked up.
I Was really looking forward to the Purple Crème Brûlée for dessert, but it wasn’t being offered at this location at the moment. The 4 dessert selections she did present us with looked delicious, but I didn’t have taste for either. Unfortunately, the fabulous waitress next to us presented her tables with a baked Alaska Option for dessert and you could hear the excitement in the voices at those tables. I really would have loved to try the Baked Alaska. But again my waitress failed my expectations.
Overall, I’m a Serious Foodie and don’t mind spending whatever the cost to be satisfied. Unfortunately, this experience that I was looking forward to turned out to be a huge disappointment. My partner told me I handled the situation very well considering I accepted this type of service with a smile.
The service and food did not wow me for the Money!
If you enjoy 5 star restaurants! Trulucks is definitely a MUST.
Signed A 5 Star Foodie & DC Native!
The evening was eventful and they took great care of us. Thank you for everything!
I saw this place while working in the district and said one day I’d try it out. I wasn’t disappointed. Everything about this restaurant was superb. Definitely dining here again
It was my husband’s birthday!
Great food and the service was just as great ! An amazing time was had.
My partner and I had an amazing experience at Truluck's. The service we received from Franklin made us feel as if we were all that mattered. The food was fresh and satisfying and the ambiance was a relaxing vibe. We'll definitely be visiting again.
Really enjoyed. My friend really enjoyed her birthday lunch!
I heard a lot about Trulucks and decided to give it a try: given the price I paid for my dinner, I was very disappointed with the food and service. My waiter was unavailable numerous times to the point that I had to ask other wait staff for assistance. Secondly, the waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu: based upon her recommendation I order an unnecessary side dish because the main dish already had the same item. Next the was the food: while the presentation of the food was very good, the taste was bland (very under seasoned). Lastly, there was Trulucks mandatory tip policy: I am use to having such a policy when there are more than 4 people at a table but in Trulucks case my bill already had a 18 percent tip included - which was far more than I would have given for the level of service I received. I will not be coming back.
Absolutely loved the service and food! I wish I remembered the name of our server because he deserves a shout out, but nonetheless, staff was great. The steak was exceptional and the drinks were delicious as well. Highly recommend the meatballs, calamari, filet, ribeye and drinks! Enjoy
Beautiful restaurant, service was top shelf. The crab rice was DELICIOUS! Everything else was good but nothing to write home about. Everything is waaaay overpriced. It’s a one and done restaurant for me.
Amazing food, service and vibe! Definitely one of my new favorites.
Would absolutely recommend Truluck for a fine dining experience. We ordered the Viola drink with dry ice, sea bass, steak, lobster mash, crab leg, bread and oysters!!! All cooked to perfection. The live music was a plus. There is a 18% gratuity included, but the service was A1. Our waitress was Mr. Paul and he was great!!!!
Great food and service! Also enjoyed the lemon drop martini !
The live entertainment was a nice surprise.
Really enjoyed John’s performance.
Loved everything about it! A must try!!!
Our server Veronica was exceptional and attentive. It was my wife’s birthday and the service provided by Veronica was royalty. It was a great experience and ambience. We went during the brunch hours and it was made better by the dinner menu selections being available. We will be back.
Too loud, utensils and glasses were dirty, too close proximity to other tables. Ordered appetizers and felt the need to leave for being so uncomfortable with the lack of cleanliness.
In the age of challenged service they get it right. The piano player is fabulous. I’m usually not a fan of chains but this is a good spot.
Vafa was an incredible server! The meatballs were to die for, and some of the best lobster bisque I’ve ever had. You have to try the Voila! cocktail as well!
First visit to Truluck's. Was waiting for what seemed like forever for this place to open, the delay for which appeared to be equal parts pandemic and rioting (or the threat of rioting).
Opening comments: it's beautiful and it's expensive, but the latter is no surprise.
If we want to compare this to Joe's downtown, then Joe's is the winner. However, if you don't want to go the extra mile or two for Joe's, this place could be a reasonable facsimile.
Unfortunately, we went during a rather active period of the pandemic and a lot of places are light on patrons in January due to the holidays, so it was very quiet, not a lot of diners.
The service was excellent, though our server was perhaps a bit too familiar, but this is better than suffering from poor service, so 5 stars here.
Food was equally very good, but some would find the South African lobster tail at $100+ a bit eyewatering.
The lowest price caviar was really fantastic value.
Wines are not cheap, be prepared.
I will go back a few more times and see if it's worth the sums of money we're talking about here on an ongoing basis.
Another note: the piano player did not sing particularly well, I hope they find someone better.
