Homecoming! Lovely evening but not told about set menu in advance. And service was very slow because of that. But server was delightful. Exposed cord and a few unsightly things in our area but otherwise a great place!
We enjoyed a wonderful meal while visiting our niece at IU. Highly recommend! The food and service was excellent!
There was a set menu that we weren’t aware of. Super noisy. Great service. Filet was very fatty. All other food was delicious.
Food was great high end quality. Good drink options.
From making our reservation through receiving our bill….the staff was very attentive to detail. It was not over the top, however comfortable in terms of service. Very local vibe and great food. Our server and bartender were great! Thank you for a great anniversary evening.
We had such excellent service and Since we were celebrating a Birthday they went above and beyond to prepare a beautiful setting. The food was wonderful .
Excellent petite filet prepared as ordered. No fat. Delicious dinner and lovely evening
Was surprised with outside look but inside was awesome
Very disappointed. My neighbors have been raving about Truffles since we moved in a year and a half ago so we decided to try it out. My husband got the steak special but there was so much fat on the steak that the serving was literally half the size of what was served. My chicken and pasta dish was bland and the chicken was quite dry. I only ate half and did not box the rest. It took three tries for our server to get my drink right, and it took more than 45 minutes for our food to come out after we finished our appetizer (carrot soup, which was the best part of the meal). We will not be back.
We could not have asked for better quality food. The steak was perfectly done and the salmon was absolutely exquisite. Bit of a crispy crunch to the outside and flaky on the inside. Well seasoned. Just perfectly done. We will definitely be back.
Like other reviews I read, I was a little apprehensive at the strip mall location but as soon as we entered it was like a different world. We were a party of six and we all agree this was a spectacular restaurant. Cocktails were very good. All of our entrees were ridiculously delicious. Between the six of us we had the filet, the strip steak special, the duck, the chicken and the veggie pasta. Every dish was top drawer! They have a very respectable wine list too!
Service was a little spotty but we chalked that up to the employee shortages plaguing our country.
If you are looking for a fine dining menu this is the place to go.
Our waiter was Brent and he was very knowledgeable and excellent. The warm goat cheese appetizer was alittle slow getting to the table maybe 35 minutes but remaining courses were brought out to the table well timed. This was our first time coming to Truffles and will be back when we visit IU/Bloomington again.
I did not know that it was a fixed price menu only. $60.00 per person. We should have been told or placed on the website at Opentable.
The shrimp cocktail looked and tasted like it came from a $9.95 tray from the Kroger next door. I ordered key lime pie for dessert. The dessert was lime green in color. Anybody who knows anything about key limes knows it is a yellowish green color. The pie was tasteless. It too looked and tasted like it came from the dessert shelf from Kroger.
I suggest proceed with caution .
We booked this restaurant for Parents weekend. I looked at the menu ahead of time and it looked like there was a lot of variety and prices were reasonable. When we got there they were only offering a 4 course pre-fix menu for $60 pp. because it was game day/parents weekend. I understand they want to bring in extra money but I was taken aback at the price. We were five people. It was very expensive and way more food than we wanted. Of course there was no place else to go so we stayed. THe food was fair, quality definitely not matching the price. The staff worked hard - no complaints there.
Dined for parents weekend and they had a special limited tasting menu for $60. First course salad. Second course shrimp cocktail with four small shrimp I had the filet which was small and probably from Mariano’s. It was thin. Veggie were two pieces of broccoli Key lime pie was not limey. Not impressed
Nice servers. All our food items were great.
It took over 1.5 hours to get our food with very few patrons in the restaurant. While the food was good, I don't think I will be going back.
The food was delicious. It was fresh, well prepared, and offered generous portions. The building was not quite what I expected for upscale dining, as it is located in a plaza with a Kroger and some other establishments. However, the food and service was excellent. The server informed us at the beginning of the meal that they were short staffed but if we needed anything at all to just let him know. Even with the staff shortage, our server was attentive and the food came out wonderfully. It was a very nice meal for folks visiting from out of town.
Mark runs the best place in Bloomington. Highly recommend it!
Great food with an outstanding wine selection. Have Mark assist with your wine choice.
Excellent food and service. We both ordered beef dishes (beef tenderloin with fettuccini alfredo and NY strip steak ) and both were excellent. It was nice and quiet to be able to have a conversation and spread out enough to feel safe.
The waitress was very nice and apologized for a number of delays and screw ups by the kitchen. The food is very good but it’s very high priced for a place in a strip mall of Bloomington.
Tasting menu, everything was great!
Fixed priced, 4-course was only option given. Fried Chicken second course “special” was terrible—sentiment confirmed by another party we saw at the restaurant at the same time. Everything else was ok, but certainly not worth the base price of $50+/person. Service was haphazard at best with attentiveness of water refiller being the highlight. Located in a nondescript shopping center. Our party of 3 left with me apologizing for the experience and insisting that I had checked prior reviews before making the reservation.
We were very surprised that we had to do their pre fix 4 course menu. Also we were initially provided only 1 menu. I had to ask 2 x fir an additional 2 Menzies. We were a party of 3.
Absolutely delicious! Great server and Mark the owner was warm and welcoming! Thank you!!
All the food was delicious, but the key lime beignets were PHENOMENAL! Honestly, what a wonderful find. My husband and I came here for a date night, and we had a wonderful time. Our waitress was also super sweet; when our entrees took longer than expected to come out, she did everything she could to still make sure we were taken care of and gave us regular updates. And then, the food was worth the wait!
Absolutely plan to come here again for special occasions, as the food and general atmosphere were just fabulous.
food was excellent, sort of expensive. it's a big open room with a bar at one end, so not intimately quiet, sort of moderate noise. If you like wine, it appears that they have an excellent selection and lots of variety.
We were so disappointed. We had some starters but they were really bad: too salty and disgusting. That’s why we didn’t have any main dish, and left the restaurant. It’s really expensive when considering the quality. I will never go this place again. The website and rating on the internet are faking it’s true quality. I don’t recommend this place.
The place was quiet not noisy. Refreshing, food was freshly prepared and brought to the table. The food was delicious along with great presentation. We plan to back again.
Our waiter was very informative and gave additional information regarding wine pairings and purchases. The food was timely and very good.
We have never been disappointed when coming to Truffles. Service is always attentive. Food preparation is innovative and quality is excellent. You pay a price for this, but it is not out of line for a restaurant of this quality. If you are not from Bloomington you might overlook this place as it is unassumingly located in a strip mall which does not reveal the cozy and intimate atmosphere greeting you when you walk in the door. We primarily dine at Truffles on special occasions or when entertaining out of town guests. We do occasionally stop by for cocktails and an appetizer or small plate in their bar area 56 Degrees. On a cautionary note at this time they do advertise outdoor seating, but as far as we know this consists of line of tables along the narrow raised walkway overlooking the very busy parking lot. Quite different than the atmosphere you will find inside. One last comment, we find their wine list extensive and interesting.
First time at Truffles. We had a great evening. Food was amazing from start to finish. Great wine selections. We will definitely be back!
We had the Dover sole whic was very expensive. It was served whole which meant having to deal with a lot of bones. And it was quite oily - too much butter
Excellent ambiance & food. Quiet enough to talk to friends.
Food was very good and tasty. My wife and I both had the duck breast which was beautifully prepared. The calamari was nothing out of the usual, but tasty. Our server was very attentive, and helpful. Wine list is extensive but expensive. Overall the d bill added up to more than expected. Very quiet atmosphere, tables far apart and nicely set, with white tale clothes etc.
Amazing service! Perfect food. Great drinks. Friendly owner. Wonderful experience!!
Upon arrival, the owner enthusiastically greeted us at the door; he has a very friendly, affable, and engaging personality.
The serving staff was super attentive.
On the drink menu, our party particularly enjoyed the “Strawberry Sweetheart” cocktail. It was DELICIOUS! Truly a creative and refreshing blend of flavors - a perfect Spring and Summer cocktail!! Bravo Truffles!!
They really failed for graduation weekend. It was a fixed priced, four course menu. Not one dish served to our table was above average and some were not edible. We felt cheated and so did the family next to us. Truffles charges fine dining prices but cannot serve food that is more than Costco quality.
