Absolutely the best food we had the entire time we were in Boca. We ate at a lot of places and this was not pretentious and just simply great food. We will go back whenever we are even close to South Florida. Be sure to get the crab dip, it’s the best I’ve ever had-not even in the same league as others.

The restaurant is set back from the main roadway and almost indistinguishable. Parking is almost impossible and the "Public Parking" area in the garage across the street provided no details resulting in our parking in private residence location in a building that, by the time we returned from dinner, was no longer easily accessible. Handicap-accessible parking in this area is an impossibility!
As this is a Maryland-theme restaurant, our party of 4 original Marylanders (2 snow birds and 2 permanent FL residents) were disappointed in the limited menu BUT... we were blown-away with the food itself. The crab cakes were authentic and crab meat plentiful; same with crab imperial. We loved the food! Service was neither bad nor extraordinary; but, it seemed "down home" and friendly. In summary, TRUE has potential depending on the great or paltry number of former Marylanders in the area. We would make a return trip (about 15 miles) but for the limited parking, it would be only for a special occasion - looking forward to "Maryland Day." This may be a favorable location to watch Maryland sports (Orioles, Ravens, Terps, etc) but, they would need several televisions & more chairs....

We live near Baltimore and have enjoyed crab cakes throughout the region. I would put True's crab cakes in our Top 10. They were definitely the best we've had in South Florida.

Yummy food and wonderful service. I had the crab imperial and it was delicious. The shrimp cocktail and brownie dessert was delicious too. We loved the quiet atmosphere, friendly staff and owner. We will return for sure. This area is a little "stuffy" and it was nice to have friendly and personable conversations with the owner and her staff. Kudos!!

The food was fabulous. One of our guests is from Baltimore and he attests to the authentic flavor of the crab cakes, crab soup, and crab dip. The server was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. Sides of macaroni and cheese and potato salad were true comfort food. We will be back!

The food was delicious and the owner and server were lovely! We really enjoyed our meals and we plan to return. The only thing that I’d like were a few more choices for side dishes that were more low carb friendly.

Overall, there were four of us and we all plan to return to the restaurant ! It’s a diamond in the rough.

Here's the essence: if you like crabs, lobster and sliders in Boca Raton, this is a must. I know that some of the best food I've eaten come from places I could easily walk by. True is one of them and it's casual, which is good because eating is human versus crab. I have no recollection what eatery occupied that space before True moved in because if you aren't looking for it, to the point that you have to remember the address to navigate to it, you'll miss it. Just like I missed its predecessor. I came across True through Open Table because I was planning on making a reservation at another "T" venue and the listing caught my eye. Any store that specializes in "real" crab can do that and it was helped by the very favorable reviews. It is the height of tourist season here and I had no idea that the patron reviews understated how REALLY SMALL AND TIGHT the tables are. Grazing for a crustacean when they dump a bountiful supply on your table can be overwhelming and often difficult. The two four-tops by the eight foot bar each had turned a barstool around to put drinks and unnecessary tabletop stuff on so the crabs would find a temporary home before facing the hammers of destruction, the sounds of which can be truly deafening. Add to that a raucous amount of talking and you are yearning for your Bose NR cans. One downside: beer (an eclectic selection that changes daily) and a limited wine menu with no liquor. My guest and I made the decision to bypass the crabs, perhaps because we just couldn't bring ourselves to increase the already challenging banging in our heads. And a good choice it was: Crab Imperial and Lazy Lobster (think a cross between imperial and newburg) after appetizers of cream of crab soup and Devils on Horseback (if you like supercharged figs). Even the sides were exceptional. The servers, there are only a couple, work very hard and a pleasant, unobtrusive (they move to too fast for that). So go. Ask for Katie. She has exceptional attention to detail.

The crab imperial and soup was very good but the crab cakes although full of flavor were a little mushy for my taste. Feel like they could hv made them a little more crispy. It was kinda pricey even for Boca standards. Place is very small so u must make a reservation. I would try it again if they put more things on their menu.

It’s my Baltimore connection- fantastic crab cakes, great crab soup ( I always get 50/50-blend of regular and really good shrimp salad!!! As great as the food was, the server has always been above & beyond, not to mention her Baltimore connection. Love this place!!!!

From Barbara, our waitress, to the special Crab Imperial, we were well taken care of. The food came out hot and delicious. And, the Boston Cream Pie ended the evening on a high note. Would highly recommend but DO make reservations. If you are unable to eat outside, the restaurant does not have a lot of tables. Still thinking about the Crab Imperial. Yum!

We had dinner here before going to a local concert at The Funky Biscuit. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a quiet, delicious evening. We had the Crab Cakes Platter and without question they were the best crab cakes I've had outside of Annapolis (the only place I had crab cakes in Maryland, but were awesome). The other item you MUST try that we had was the Pumpkin Cheesecake. I'm not a huge cheesecake fan, but this was out of this world. They make it there, so I'm not sure they'll have the pumpkin version every time, but what ever it is that's fresh that day....get it. You won't regret it.
Great service too! Friendly staff and super helpful in deciding what to get. :)

This place is a lot like Cheers. We had only eaten there once but they remembered our names when we walked in.

True serves authentic Maryland food. The crab cakes are the best you'll get outside of Maryland.

We even had a rare appetizer: Angels on Horseback which included a date, cream cheese, and some other stuff . . . it was great.

Every two weeks they host an authentic crab feast . . . we'll have to attend.

If you're up for a nice meal where you're treated like a friend, try True.

Wonderful fresh and tasty Maryland blue crabs. The sweetest most delicious crabs you'll ever eat. Expect parking to be a hassle on a Saturday night, but once you're seated, you're in for a treat. Be sure to reserve the special crab feast, served center table right on the paper tablecloth. Be prepared to break open these gems and enjoy. Limited seating. Friendly attentive service.

When I discovered TRUE on Yelp, I was impressed with the reviews mentioning the Maryland crab soup, the crab cakes which they claimed were mostly crab, and the rest of the menu. While hard to find at first, it's ideally located on the fringe of Royal Palm Plaza in east Boca. Parking is abundant, and the venue is small. More importantly, the crab cakes are almost ALL real crab, almost no binder, the soup was authentic, and the service impeccable. I will most certainly return to experience more of their offerings, but rest assured, you won't be disappointed.

Service was good but there was no one there when we sat down so the staff kept chiming in on our conversations. They were nice but we didn’t go there to talk with them. Food was good but over priced. 4 people 4 entrees and 2 apps 1 bottle of wine and one glass was $240. Not worth it overall. It wasnt crazy overpriced but given all the aspects of the experience it wasn’t really worth the bill. They do have great crab and the staff is very friendly! Just not our cup of tea for the overall experience.
