True North Kitchen + Bar
True North is a modern American Tavern that brings urban vibes to the suburbs. Executive Chef Ben Campbell, formerly of No. 9 Park in Boston, delivers delicious and distinctive comfort food made with fresh seasonal ingredients. Menu items rotate frequently but you can count on a seasonal soup, pasta, seafood, and meat selection always being available. Chef Ben flaunts his creativity by taking traditional tavern food to the next level. Customers highly recommend the chicken parmesan with cacio e pepe linguini, fish and shrimp po’ boy tacos, burgers with house made “everything spiced” bun, and house made carrot cake. The restaurant offers a full bar with a variety of craft beers on tap and the bottle and a wide selection of wines by the glass.
The restaurant is super cute, however there is a musty smell that lingers in the air. Our server was a little unprofessional and did not seem familiar with the menu. Additionally, our bill had items that we did not order including a $14 meal. This was adjusted but the server proceeded to crumple the wrong bill into a ball right in front of us in a disgruntled fashion. Would like to go return for the ambiance, but probably will not due to smell.
We heard about True North through word of mouth and decided to try it out. We booked via Opentable. We were greeted by a friendly lady - turned out it was the owner. She told us they had the "Atlantica" in Cohasset before (place we went to a few times for brunch buffet). The True North is in an ugly building right on 3A. It has plenty of parking, but doesn't look very appealing from the outside. The inside however is nice for a bar/restaurant and the food was great service was ok. We will definitely go back.
Great brunch with a build your own Bloody Mary bar!! Bacon and shrimp are part of it!
Great food and terrific service with friendly staff. Will definitely return!
Consistently outstanding food, service and atmosphere!
The food was delicious and the wait staff were attentive and kind. Highly recommended!
The food is always awesome, but what makes this place special is the staff. It feels like home there. Spinach salad was amazing, short ribs yummy!!!!
We always enjoy our dining visits. The food is excellent and the service superb.
The bartenders are great with beer and wine, but their ability to make a mixed drink has fallen short on 3 occasions. Although willing to try again, I expect they would be better at mixing drinks as they are not cheap. Very willing, just not very skilled.
True North is a nice neighborhood bar. I was there on a Wednesday evening and it was busy. Our waitress was very pleasant. The food was okay. I had some asparagus which had seen better days. The fish was good but it was a pretty small portion for the price. Very lively bar scene
The food and service is always the best
always a great time and friendly service here! we will return many times.
Owner sat us for our reservation as soon as we came in. We felt welcomed from the time we got there to the minute we left. Our server was very knowledgeable about all the menu items suggesting specials for the night. She went above and beyond asking other guests their opinion to give us a better idea what to decide. Little details like this make a big difference! Our food came out hot and quickly. All three meals were delicious!
Food and service were great - the only real drawback is the location. Right on Rt 3A in a fairly run down/undesirable area. It is too bad because it is a nice, casual restaurant with good food and service. I just would not think of it as a place I want to spend an evening.
My first visit was great! I have already spread the word. It was a pleasure,
We always have a wonderful experience with the food, the service and the overall experience.
The food was so salty! The wait staff was wonderful, the place was clean and the prices were reasonable but I will not return, nor will my 7 guests, because of the extremely salty food.
Food was good and the place was quiet. Bartender was thoughtful and quick. Will be back!
Outstanding food as always. We love this place and are so happy it is close to home. The chic parm is amazing. Fried clams were on the menu when we last went and they were fresh and lightly battered. Delicious! Just can’t say enough about True North! Janet is an amazing owner and hostess.
Love this place. Service is friendly and personable. Food is exceptional. Will be back.
Stopped in for Sunday brunch. Delicious food, well informed and helpful staff, nice vibe. We will definitely be back for dinner soon!
Chicken parmigiana was excellent. Would recommend giving it a try
So glad we made reservations on a busy Saturday night. Seated promptly and server came right over to take our drink orders and explain the special and what they were out of. Ordered the camaro for an appetizer. Very well prepared. Entrees included baked cod, fried fish platter, and the stake frites. Evergreen delicious. A bit noisy but not too bad. Great restaurant!
Service was phenomenal from the host’s greeting and asking for our names right up to when we were on our way out and she remembered our names and sincerely asked us if we enjoyed our meal (we loved every course) and told us she hoped to see us again (she will). Great experience start to finish. Had the shrimp risotto, s’mores mouse and I was practically licking the plate.
Everything we ordered was great. Would recommend and will definitely be back.
went for brunch.......fun menu, meaning creative slant on the usual breakfast items. I have had the short rib and sweet potato hash, so this time opted for the eggs benedict. Perfectly poached eggs. I do think the hollandaise should be a bit ‘less’ lemony. My partner can’t refuse fish on any menu, so he again had the fried fish & chips, with slaw and fries. Fries and breakfast potatoes are exceptionally tasty. Also each had a brunchy cocktail.....the new Flamingo #2 is a hit with me, love grapefruit. Also give the Fizzy Gimlet a try!
We live over the bridge in Quincy and True North has become a spot for dinner both when we are just too rushed to cook after work (i.e. good food and reasonably priced) and also a a place where we'd meet friends on a Friday night. The food is really good and priced fairly, service is warm and friendly, you can dine and talk (wow!!) and there's still a nice buzz of folks enjoying themselves. The atmosphere is relaxed and beachy--perfect for these hot nights and also great in winter, when one needs that reminder of the sea :)
This is a great addition to 3A for sure!!
All of the entrees were good and between the group we ordered braised short-ribs, scallops and steak frites. The manager (i think) or hostess was very nice and gave my daughter some metal creamers to play with. The appetizers were not as good as I would have hoped. We ordered the fried pickles and fried calamari but the breading on both was a bit too heavy. I think they would taste a lot better if they lightened up the breading.
I would definitely recommend this place to others and with some minor tweaks I would give it 5*.
Great brunch on Saturday ... enjoyed the Bloody Mary Bar! Not a typical brunch menu, per se ... something for you if you wanted breakfast-type foods; something for you if you wanted lunch- type foods. All meals we ordered were absolutely delicious - not mundane at all!
Comfortable atmosphere. Wonderful people. Delicious food
What a find in North Weymouth. Even though this place has been open for several years, my mom and I just discovered it after a beach day. The food was really good and the owners are the nicest people. They both introduced themselves to everyone who came in, and truly learned the names of their guests. We will definitely be back!
The bartender while very nice and agreeable to fixing my drink, almost made it worse. He needs more practice before serving mixed drinks. The apps are always good but the wedge salad needs help. Too much dressing covered up the not too crispy lettuce. I'll go back, but no more salads and mixed drinks. Very nice staff!!
Everything about True North was good except that the fire alarm went off during our meal and we had to finish our food quickly, in order to leave before the fire department arrived. The food and drinks were great but this really ruined the experience. There was no fire but just smoke from a fryer that triggered the alarm. We did not receive any discount or compensation for the inconvenience...
A fantastic restaurant!
Never a disappointment, delicious food, quality service and always warm and pleasant greetings and hands on personable interaction by the owners Joe and Janet to make sure were satisfied; we always are!
The fried clams were delicious! Debbie is a terrific server!
We had excellent service - the wait staff was attentive and prompt. We had a variety of appetizers, all of which were creative and flavorful - the Mongolian chicken and street corn were especially flavorful. Our main courses varied from burgers to salads to baked penne bolognese. In particular, the burgers (one a turkey burger and the other beef) were well cooked with delicious toppings and the bolognese sauce was mellow and rich. We got key lime pie cups and chocolate mouse with 'smores ingredients. Our family likes key lime pie, and this one was up to expectations. The mouse was very creative; using a mousse to make a 'smores dessert was delicious. We really enjoyed the meal, and the atmosphere was bright and positive which further encouraged our good cheer. Thank you very much to True North Kitchen!
Two of three dinners were perfect. Third dinner was served cold. Sent it back, came back dish was heated, dinner still cold. Owner apologized and removed it from bill, but told me that we should’ve sent it back again. I was good with the apology until it became my fault that we didn’t send it back a third time.
Service is very good, owners are delightful and very nice people. Food is enjoyable and for the area strikes the balance between unique tastes and traditional. Good value and nice atmosphere. We have been twice and will go again.
Casual , sports channels on tvs around the bar, excellent draft beer and very well prepared selections. Arancini app delicious, fried clams crispy and fresh. Local sports bar feel with top notch food choices - highly recommend if looking for a great meal in casual atmosphere..Would definitely return.
