I have been before, but my friend had never been. We both loved it! Such good food and great service.
Server was fantastic!!!
Service was the best we’ve had there. I always love the food. The cocktails seem to always have a very light pour of alcohol, but it was yummy.
I absolutely LOVE eating here but I can only eat outside. It is SO INCREDIBLY LOUD inside! It’s just sensory overload for me.
Great creative wholesome food in a clean bright atmosphere! I highly recommend the roasted cauliflower and the edamame!
Delicious kale guacamole and rosé wine! We sat in the back so the noise wasn’t too bad. Our server, Craig, was a love. Took half my TLT sandwich home, but ate the entire cucumber salad. Good food!
Love the vegan options along with a varied (and delicious) menu.
I have dined here many times, but the service this time was particularly poor. We requested water for our table at least 4 times over the course of 40 minutes, it just seemed sluggish and non attentive on this visit which was disappointing as we had taken friends for their first try of true food.
Great customer service from entering the restaurant through saying goodbye after paying out bill.
Fantastic healthful menu in a fun setting. The place is always packed, so we make sure to book ahead with OpenTable.
Great spot for vegan and vegetarian meals. The place can be very busy and quite noisy so I recommend reservations but the food is worth it. It's located right downtown which makes it convenient for all of the hot spots in Walnut Creek.
My friend, who had never been there , loved it. I always love it. We enjoyed the patio area and were so pleased with the noise levels and enjoyed some furry friends st nearby tables.
For our early mid workday lunch we had a nice overall experience, Parking was very convenient parking (free for first 3 hours) in adjoining parking complex, excellent, attentive, and friendly, service, apparently wholesome ingredients, well presented and prepared food. My Mediterranean quinoa salad was complex, well orchestrated, and allowed for extra ground pepper, to provide for personal palate preference; the grass-fed burger's vegetables were properly prepared, the patty was juicy and and the bun tasted fresh; the chia seed pudding also had a nice balance of flavors. We left nothing on the plates. On the way out, the place was packed, both inside and on the patio, on a rather warm day.
The open (no sound baffles) hard surface interior space was difficult to hold a quiet conversation in, both with the staff and from across the table for two. We thought about resorting to texting ... but are also considering lip reading or ASL for our return visit ...
Wanted to try a seasonal salad and wasn't impressed
Way too noisy! The restaurant needs better acoustics. The food was delicious but expensive for what you get.
Fabulous food and service. A couple of the meals and drinks can be overpriced for the value, but overall a fabulous restaurant!
Service was not good at all. Waiter rarely checked in and wasn’t very friendly. We had to wait a long time for our lunch.
Edamame dumplings were the best! Trying to make it at home now.
Great food and the service was outstanding.
Great food--especially the cauliflower! Overall a little loud and chaotic
Great everything except the noise level.
The place is TOO LOUD! I am not an old person. I don't have hearing loss issues. The place has not soft surface that will absolve all the noise from the kitchen and people. I found myself exhausted from shouting to be heard by my friend. My advice is that you put something soft on the ceiling above or add some cushion chairs. Something soft has to absorb all the noise.
Food was delicious and fresh. Definitely need more dessert choices though, and I’m not even a huge dessert fan. A nice, fresh açaí bowl would be a nice addition!
Been there at least 6 times and this was worst overall experience. Service very good but food was average. Not as good as in past visits. Portions were adequate. Main dining room is too loud and was to hot to sit outside.
My two friends and I all had different salads, and we all enjoyed them!
Food and genuine desire to provide good food to the community gets 5 stars. It’s loud and servers are stretched but still a great experience.
Small portions, high prices. The food is very average.
Love this place each and every time! Always a winner!
Great menu with delicious food and cocktails. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us great service.
I've had Fish Tacos many time before, yet was surprised at how good they were. We had a very nice experience out on the patio and enjoyed our special occasion.
The Walnut Creek location is often busy and noisy inside. This is a “con” for me. Outside can be less noisy. Service on our recent visit was even slower than the usual slow-ish pace on a Thursday for lunch with reservations. Our server seemed distracted and was not very attentive. We didn’t get offered refills on water which was all we ordered to drink. My fish tacos were great, but my friend mentioned his chopped salad with added chicken was lacking in flavor compared to the norm. We continue to come back because we are looking for organic and GF options in addition to the usual great taste. We would visit more often if the vibe was cozier and quieter. The ambiance is kind of cafeteria and a bit sterile IMHO.
Delicious/healthy food and friendly, knowledgeable staff bring us back every time! These things outweigh the moderately high prices.
We go here often, always good food
Out of the first two thing I ordered including Salmon.
Based on previous visits I would rec True Food. But this time - we waited between courses for our entree for 55 minutes. Then the food wasn't as good as past visits. Really disappointing.
The restaurant is very loud, not the place for quiet conversations. The food is very fresh, tasty and made with care.
True Food is one of my favorite restaurants. The food quality is consistent and delicious. Now that you can make a reservation on Open Table you can make a plan and not have to wait forever. The wait staff is always pleasant however they have cannot be as attentive as other places because of how busy the restaurant is. For some reason getting your beverage, be it a latte, cocktail or lemonade always takes forever.
But...I love True Food..
We regularly eat at True Food Kitchen in Walnut Creek. I always order Spicy Panang Curry. It’s always excellent with consistent flavor and spice. This time it wasn’t as good or should I say as great as usual. It was “off” a little and I just can’t put my finger on the problem.
My wife ordered Ancient Grains and she had to return the entire meal because it was undercooked. Also, the grilled portobello was missing from the plate. It was returned to the kitchen by a different server. Our server did not know what had happened and did not return to our table for at least 15 minutes.
For a quieter meal, sit in the enclosed patio.
