At True Food, we have a simple philosophy: serve seasonal, honest food that tastes really good. We’re a group of health-minded people that care about what we put in our bodies, as well as the footprint we leave on the environment. The ingredients coming in the back door are clean, mostly organic (we follow the Dirty Dozen) and never fake or artificial. Whether you're into the latest superfood salad or just want a pizza and burger, you'll find it here. Want a blended juice or a martini? We've got both. The chefs make everything from scratch, which means you'll know what's in your food and where it came from. At the end of the day, it's all about great food and great service.

True Food could be a really good restaurant for after work dinners or even a casual weekend, but it is either woefully understaffed, or there are simply no work-flow systems. All the food we tried was good, some more successful than others, as is typical; but all I really remember from the evening is that the service was painful. Our server was very nice and personable, but could not handle the number of tables that he had. The kitchen was ridiculously slow as was the bar. The manager was very apologetic and very candid in her assessment that it's hard to get good, reliable staff; but at the end of the day, that doesn't make it better. We were offered dessert on the house as a balm for having to wait probably 45 minutes for paid thai, but declined because we didn't want to wait for it. True Food could be the ideal place to grab a quick bite with a friend after work or after the gym, but it's not because there is nothing quick about it. It's a two hour meal.

We'd been to True Food once before, on Christmas Eve, when we had the place pretty much to ourselves. We loved the food, so my daughter and I went back for dinner this week. This time the place was packed, with loud music playing. No one else seemed to be bothered by the noise level, but we were unable to hold a conversation across our table (I had a sore throat and just couldn't scream that loudly). We switched to a table in the corner where we could to some extent block out the noise. The food is great, just be prepared for the noise level.

A pretty casual spot that offers something for everyone. We liked the drinks (both alcoholic and non-), the appetizers were so so, but the entrees were all generally good.

The only negatives were that it was a little hard to hear (high ceilings) and the AC was dripping from the ceiling.

Overall we enjoyed the place. However, not all the food came out at he same time. One of the avocado toast was burnt, and the bread is very thin and small. The quinoa with sweet potato and egg was really good and the quinoa pancakes where fabulous. The kale smoothly is really good taste like the one from Mariano’s. They took off one of the avocado toast which was nice. Just be prepared to pay a lot for the food. Without the one avocado toast four people was over 80 dollars for the bill without tip.

Ordered an app and two entrees. All food came out together and within 10 mins of ordering. The entrees were both cold and looked liked they had been sitting there for a while. The cheese covering the squash was cold and hardened. Service was ok, but food was sub par.

Delicious food!
A bit warm because doors were opento outside
Next time on a hot Chicago night I would request to sit in the back - it was much cooler
Also less noisier there

I ate in Chicago while attending a conference away from my home state. The server skid my silverware on the table and didn’t even notice that she was placing my dessert spoon in the wrong place but also in a water ring left from my drink !

I watched her patterns with other patrons and couldn’t tell much improvement of disposition. I asked for my dessert to go. My strawberry rhubarb pie was upside down and no plasticware to enjoy it once I got to my hotel. Aside from the very poor service , the food was pretty good for the price . I would only check their quality of the service. Mc Donald’s demonstrates better service skills than what I saw and received.

I would still recommend and even order again but not to sit down and dine. I’ll take it to go.

This was my first time visiting True Food. The online menu intrigued me. I had the soup of the day, which was leak and asparagus. Well seasoned and tasty. I had the lasagne bolognese and it was delicious as well. We shared a flourless chocolate cake to complete the meal. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes for the flourless cake, but it was also delicious. The servers were professional and courteous and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely a return visit is in order.

I dine here frequently. I had to send my food back because it was at best lukewarm. I would have asked for another try but didn't want to disrupt my conversation with my friend.

Spending the weekend in Chicago, had to made it to True Food Kitchen. Love TFK in Austin, TX, so we had to try it. It was great! An added bonus was our server! She respected that we wanted more time between, cocktails, appetizer, entree, dessert. We will be back.

It was my 3rd Time AT this restaurant and it was as good as I remembered. Except, We were seated in the section near the restrooms and I Will remember to Ask to be seated in the larger area next Time, because the experience was not as nearly as fun as my previous visits.

Pretty good food, slightly overpriced. Service rushed and inattentive: charged for an item that was never delivered, despite two reminders. Extremely loud. Pleasant atmosphere, however.

Second time going, friends of a cook there and the food never disappoints! My favorite is the turkey burger with sweet potato hash. The turkey patty contains such juicy flavors, it almost melts in your mouth. The combination of cheese and avocado is refreshing and the hash definitely compliments the star of the dish.

I absolutely love true food kitchen!!!! I think it’s hard to find actual healthy food, let alone local & organic & phenomenal taste!
They cook in front of you and that’s always nice. I think the menu inventive, the environment is fresh, open & easy and the service is good. I always make it a point to stop when I can

I picked True Food for the vegetarian selections for my daughter. We all had different dishes and all of them were delicious! Our server was wonderful very attentive, not overbearing. We got there at 5:30 so it was kind of empty but it was full by the time we left. I would highly recommend True Food!

Excellent menu choices for diners who want healthy choices. Don’t miss the roasted cauliflower. Portions are generous. Buzzy vibe but not too loud to talk.

We frequent true food often and like their food, not sure what happened this time but my food came out wrong, and after sending it back it took so long that the others at the table were almost finished. Then once I received my food it just wasn't as I remembered it the time before. I had the quinoa patties, they were dry and unappealing. I'm hoping my next visit will be back up to it's regular standard.
