True Food Kitchen - Bethesda
always a joy to eat here...just wish it were less noisy
The food was very good.
True Food is very reliable. This time, however, food was even better and the service was terrific. Highly recommend it.
I let them know it was my friend’s birthday and they did not do anything special.
Service staff was very friendly. The food was truly delicious and served quickly. The price was very fair. Another bonus: parking was near by and was free.
The food was great and even in the heat it was lovely to sit outside!
My first impression was that it was pretty noisy. The food was very good. Interesting food offerings.
I went with two friends and it was the first visit for all of us. We had a great experience! First of all, the food was really good - it was especially important for one of our group who is gluten and dairy free. She got a noodle bowl with sweet potato noodles, her daughter got a turkey burger with sweet potato hash and I got a flatbread and chicken satay. We also got a cauliflower dish to start and then were treated to amazing desserts. I know each of us would say our dinners were delicious. Admittedly the menu is geared toward a certain style of eating but if that's what you are looking for I can't imagine anyplace better. The atmosphere was fabulous - light, cheery, upbeat and full of energy which is right up my alley. Our servers were fantastic - exceptionally friendly and attentive. Donna and John both were involved in our decisions and actually serving us. The manager came over to us two or three times to make sure we were enjoying our evening and I'd like to give him kudos as well. His name was Khari Bell. We would all three highly recommend True Food Kitchen.
Amazing service and vegan food that was terrific! Happy customer!!!
I was so disappointed in the restaurant. So loud. Service was across the board. There were so many staff member simply roaming around that were clearly in training.
The Cobb salad was a wide variance of the standard. Not sure when kale, garbanzo beans, pickled radishes, and others were standards.
Had lunch. Lovely spot. Large restaurant. Didn’t notice noise level so was obviously fine for conversation. Had two great servers, one in training. Delicious refreshing drinks (non alcoholic) and a wonderful watermelon and tomato salad. Turkey burger was juicy and tasty, but a little heavy on salt. Maybe it was the condiments on it. Not sure. But overall it was a very good meal and the venue attractive and comfortable. Would definitely return and recommend to others.
True Food has not let me down so far. I've visited this establishment many, many times and also bring friends. I love the fresh food and the menu changes a bit which I also like. That keeps me coming back to try something new.
I want to like this restaurant bc the food is good, but it is much too loud. My friend and I had to shout to be heard. It is not a relaxing experience, which is too bad.
We went here for a group lunch with work friends. Everyone seemed to like their food and the service was good. The only minor issue was the noise level, but otherwise a good choice.
Love the food. The waitstaff is always helpful and friendly. The noise level is unpleasant interferes with our enjoyment. Don’t understand why nothing is done about this real problem - noise is just as much of a health issue as nutritional value
The service was horrible. From start to finish they could not get it together. The food took well over 30 minutes, came out wrong and was dry. Even my latte took an extremely long time and it was most frustrating as we watched it sit at the bar getting colder (it eventually came without sweetener and tasted HORRIBLE). But the best was, when I asked waitress about a chicken dish, she said oh my goodness that is my FAVORITE. But then could not tell me one thing about the dish. This was a super disappointing meal. The manager tried to make it right by bringing us a glass of wine on the house, but honestly it just could not make up for poor service and food.
My daughter has been telling me about this place for awhile. This is my second visit and I just love the food. I even had a skinny margarita! I live near Gaithersbug, MD and hear there’s one coming soon to the area. I can’t wait!!!
Food was great, server was helpful. Definitely a louder lunch crowd (holiday long weekend). Loved the calories listed on the menu and and enjoyed my meal. Maybe a bit pricey but still great experience overall
Great place overall, except for the level of noise.
The management team is committed to providing a delightful experience. That’s what made is 5-star!
Burger was great. Red fish had too much arugula beneath it; it could have used more brocalini. Humus appetizer was very good. Drinks were interesting and tasted very good. Our waiter was very good; management stopped by several times to ask if everything was ok. We will definitely go back.
My husband and I consider True Food Kitchen are favorite restaurants. The meals are always great and the staff is wonderful.
The serves and ambiance was great. Food concept was great but the food was not that great. I got the burger and it was dry. The bread also had a bad taste to it.
Service was great up until the end of the meal, which seems to be an ongoing theme in the DMV. When you need service the most, no one is to be found. Plates that clearly were ready to be boxed up remain there to warm and the wait quickly ensures there is no interest in dessert. Even when you and your date had discussed that very thing. Needless to say it was a big let down to an otherwise great date.
The bar was also short on a number of bottles that we tried to order, which was also a let down.
Excellent and healthy food. The crudite starter is excellent, as is the tomato and watermelon salad and the corn, tomato and arugula flatbread. My husband really enjoyed his redfish.
The new summer menu has many better looking options than before.
Outside seating is nice but could use a little more of a barrier from busy Wisconsin Avenue.
The food combinations were creative but not outlandish. Fresh, wholesome ingredients make this a worthwhile eating experience.
Waaay to loud in this place. Everything else I like fine.
We took the waiters recommendation and tried the lasagna bolognese.. It did not disappoint, delicious! Plus, surprisingly healthy and low in calories.
Love that they cater to gluten, dairy and soy free people like me so easily. Loved the cauliflower leek soup.
Extremely mediocre. Went here because it seemed to be pretty busy each time I passed it, but kind of regret our choice. Our server was all over the place, not bringing us our drinks, then bringing us the wrong drinks, then charging us for two wines when we only ordered one, then at the end adding another drink to each of our checks that none of us had ordered! The wine was a good portion for what I paid, and my salad was very yummy, but the overall concept seems to be prioritizing "hispterish" alternative options with a heavy emphasis on kale and root vegetables at the cost of variety - not a great amount of more traditional staples for people not eating the newer, veggie-heavy trendy diets.
I would maybe come back; would like to give this place another shot because it is a healthier alternative for a dinner out than many steakhouses or chains. But I definitely won't be in any hurry to do so.
This place has potential. It’s so nice to go to a restaurant and not have panic over not having anything to order with all my food allergies. But the service was ABHORRENT. We had to ask for WATER 4 times before our waitress remembered, the food took an hour to come out.. it took so long our waitress asked us if we wanted the dessert menu and we hadn’t received our dinner yet!! My husband’s fish tacos were cold, so I’m pretty sure it was a combo of the kitchen being slow and our waitress being forgetful.
When my food finally came out, they forgot the tofu. Which was the main part of the dish!!!!!!
If it weren’t so easy to order delish dietary friendly food, we’d NEVER go back.
We waited an hour for our food without so much as a water refill. Our waiter never checked back and they did nothing to remedy the situation.
True Food Kitchen is a fabulous restaurant. The only issue is the noise! My friend and I chose to wait for a table outside because it was almost impossible to hear one another inside the restaurant. Unfortunately, that issue means I won't go there unless the weather is good enough to sit outside. The food is amazing, and the servers are terrific!
Food was good. Server was terrible. She asked if we wanted our beer on the rocks... no kidding. After we were ALMOST finished she asked who wanted dessert but never cleared any dishes. She gave us our check before coffee was done. The waitress needs training. It was embarrassing because we were other people we hadn’t seen in more than 10 years.
Good healthy food BUT noisy and poor service (friendly server but very distracted and had to go find her a couple of times....)
True Food Kitchen is my new favorite restaurant. The downside to lunch is that you have the B team working. Our server tried but her inexperience was very evident. She must be new. She cleared our entrees but I wanted to keep eating the kale guacamole dip; she tried to take it away anyway. My companion ordered regular coffee, she brought it without cream, sweetener or spoon. Two requests for a spoon after she brought the cream. By that time it wasn’t busy or noisy.
I’ll return but probably for dinner.
Love the food and the great menu. Cauliflower polenta is to die for. Great pizza. Good wait staff. The noise level is approaching intolerable on a busy night, and when we asked for an open table in the back where it was quieter, the hostess declined to seat us there.
Food is always good. When looking at the menu, it feels a little too earthy-crunch - but I have never had anything that I didn't enjoy. They are flexible with making slight tweaks to items. The salmon is unbelievable.
Very noisy restaurant. Could not carry on conversation
Staff did their best to seat us in a quiet location, but the whole place is very loud.
Waitress was very friendly and nice. Had trouble getting ice water, had to ask several times. Eventually came, but w/o ice. finally got it right w some persistence.
You didn't have the beer I ordered, so she came up w an alternative, but that was disappointing bc it was a pretty popular brand which I expected to be well-stocked. The bill originally came w some additional
charges, but she quickly fixed it.
Food was good. Especially like the salad. Pizza was good, but I don't think the menu listed the onions that came on it.
No convenient parking, but I found a space eventually a few blocks away in a garage.
