True Chesapeake Oyster Company is the first Maryland oyster farm to open a restaurant, featuring oysters raised on their farm in St. Jerome’s Creek, Southern Maryland. The menu revolves around these oysters — raw, roasted, and in signature dishes like Classic Rockefeller and Semolina Fried Oysters — complemented by varied seasonal entrees and fun departures on classic cocktails. The True Chesapeake team aspires to extend the restorative practices at the farm to the spirit of this restaurant with “restorative dining” -- a dining experience featuring the farm’s bounty and sincerely crafted to restore body and soul.

Even on our busiest nights, you will find space available for guests to enjoy a drink or a meal at our large wrap-around bar and lounge area. Join us on Friday nights for live music beginning at 9pm.

This was a special brunch. A group of friends(32 years of friendship), getting together to chat and enjoy wonderful food and drinks. Our waiter, Collin, explained each dish and recommended cocktails for each persons taste. We occupied our table for almost 4 hours and not once did we feel rushed. The food, as usual, was amazing!! From the pig ears, crab cake Benedict and pumpkin bread pudding. Chef Zack Mills never disappoints!! We enjoyed bloody mary’s and specialized cocktails that were fabulous! I frequent True Chesapeake but this was my girlfriends first time. We are already planning our next trip. It’s a must go to restaurant in Baltimore!!

Food and our server were fine. The front desk lady had an attitude after I ask to be seated not right next to the front door where the wind comes right in, and also there were plenty of open tables since the place is somewhat empty at the time.

Very nice dining experience. Although it was hard to find, once inside we were pleasantly surprised by the rustic decor and expansive drink menu. Great cocktails and wines available. The oysters did not disappoint. We had fresh oysters, fried oysters and short rib. All were fantastic. Would definitely recommend and return. Bar manager was very friendly.

Gorgeous interior! Great Oysters.
Raw oysters and appetizers took a really long time to come out. Forgotten 2nd glass of wine never showed.
Food was excellent! Birthday treat at the end was delicious!

My significant other has had True Chesapeake on his bucket list for quite awhile, and we finally bit the bullet and paid a visit. The restaurant itself is gorgeous and boasts a chic industrial theme. The Fish Stick appetizer and Crab Mac and Cheese side were standouts of our meal. My sweetheart almost lost it when he saw the Snakehead entrée (in a good way), but found the fish to have a strange texture on the palette and didn't finish it. Similarly, I was thrilled to order the Duck-Fat Roasted Monkfish, but found the fish to be dense, somewhat dry, and largely flavorless. The same went for the sweet potato puree that accompanied it, but the pickled mustard greens were tart and delicious. I asked for a beurre blanc or hollandaise sauce to save my fish from being a complete waste, and the server offered a weird frothy lemony butter sauce (I think the caper hollandaise that accompanies the Semolina Fried Oysters), which wasn't appetizing, unfortunately. The restaurant has a number of very neat craft cocktails, but unfortunately, I can't recall the name of my favorite - it mirrors an Old Fashioned. But there is an even better cocktail that boasts scotch as its main spirit, which I substituted for bourbon on a subsequent visit to the bar and really loved.

Great place to meet friends and share a meal.
Chesapeake food prepared exquisitely, with the freshest ingredients, and simply enough that you can truly appreciate the food. If you eat oysters, be sure to try the ones from the restaurant's own farm in Southern Maryland. If it's your first, tell your server, and they will ring a bell for you. The chef is very good at customizing food for those with allergies or special diets, just ask. Bar area is fun and lively, but well designed so conversation is still easy. Dining room is more formal and quiet. Take your pick.

Oysters were great and the atmosphere is really nice. We ordered the short rib and it was almost all fat and truly not edible... couldn’t even cut it. I sent it back (which I rarely ever do) and what was brought back to me wasn’t much better. Also saw the chef roll his eyes in the kitchen when it was sent back. We were really looking forward to a date night here, but were pretty disappointed.

We had a nice dinner last week. Our server was excellent. Our food was good, but not great. It seemed that most dishes were similar in texture. There wasnt much of a variety. Oysters were great! Oyster stew needed seasoning. We will visit again and try a few other options.

Beautiful, visually arresting interior. Imaginative menu with offerings like the dreaded snakehead fish, crispy duck and a wide variety of oysters, of course. The wine list is extensive, well selected and fairly priced and includes an interesting selection of trendy post prandial amari. Service was outstanding. Staff operates cooperatively and your plates may be cleared and your table attended to by any of the numerous staff on hand. Vibe is dynamic and extremely friendly.

Beautifully designed restaurant with an open space feeling. The bar area is spacious with various tables and bar seating and a TV if you care to watch a sporting event. The dining area is in the back of the restaurant with great view of the kitchen. Some open kitchens result in extra noise, but that is not the case at TCOC.
We were seated immediately upon arrival and our server, Ken, was top notch and very attentive. He knew the menu and had excellent recommendations. Complimentary bread served which was absolutely delicious.
Our order:
Oysters from the raw bar- 4 varieties and all were fresh and delicious with several condiments to choose from
Oyster Stew: classic but with a twist of saffron and spot on.
Crab Soup: not a typical crab soup, but a light broth version with miso. It was perfect
The five of us ordered a variety of fish dishes and the home-made spaghetti with clams. The dishes were as described and prepared with crispy crusts on the fish and light unique finishing sauces.
We started with cocktails and each one was unique, beautiful and very tasty. We ended with the ice cream sundae with fried dough. We are looking forward to spring and summer so that we can enjoy oysters outside at their outdoor bar and patio!

Our first trip to this new place that we had been eager to try. Heard lots of good things. All proved to be true! I agree with most others who say you MUST try the spaghetti and clams - amazing! Tried three different oysters on the half shell - we prefer saltier varieties, but all were delicious, expertly shucked and very tasty. Their take on a fish stick was great as well - a grown-up, much tastier take on the old Gorton's sticks. Rockfish dish was superb - perfectly cooked with the must-have crispy skin. Oyster stew was excellent as well, though more of an oyster chowder. Whatever you call, it was terrific. Too full to try dessert, but from what we saw at adjacent tables, they seem to be worth the calories. Will definitely be back!

Oysters were well shucked and fresh, but two of the three types were rather bland. Not up to Ryleighs or Dylan’s. Ok cocktails, fried chicken very good, mussels fresh but bland. And no frites for the moules! Saw no reason to stay for dessert. Room is vast, post industrial, although noise level was fine.
