   Ambience was great, food was tasty and interesting. Cocktails were delicious. 100% would eat again!!

   Really good local food and drinks, from the invasive snakehead fish dish to the DC-area brews. The timing of the food and drinks coming out, however, could be improved upon. The beer I ordered at the beginning of the meal did not come out until we had already received and eaten our oyster appetizer; the server noted the bar was backed up, but we were among the first people there for the dinner service. The server was helpful with the menu and clearly had been schooled in the ins and outs of the different oyster varieties available. Lastly, in terms of value, the four of us -- my wife, two children, and I -- were all left hungry after demolishing our meals. We ordered an additional kids' serving of chicken tenders for our kids, and they still wanted dessert afterwards. My wife and I joked about stopping at a nearby bar for some wings after our meals, with her duck pasta proving to be particularly meager. Overall, delicious food and solid service, but with some details still to be straightened out.

   We have been to True Oyster many times, and unfortunately, today, Mother's Day, we had a less than stellar experience. Our service started off strong, but it quickly declined. The food was excellent, as always, but once our main meal was delivered to our table, we didn't see our server for over an hour. We had to flag her down for a drink we requested and for more water, which had been empty for quite some time as well. Even after the drink reminder, it was forgotten again and the overall experience took two and a half hours. Although I do love the food and drinks at this restaurant I would think twice about visiting on a potentially busy day. We were very disappointed in the quality of service and the seeming lack of understanding or sympathy for the wait times, when we could easily see that the kitchen and bar were working efficiently and effectively.

   Food was good but not hot. They kept running out of the shrimp cocktail for the brunch. The shrimp were huge and very good once I had tonnage out by the brunch buffet and wait several minutes before it was ready. The wait staff were excellent (very engaging and helpful)

   The Mother’s Day buffet was pretty disappointing. It didn’t come close to the quality of the regular menu. The rockfish, fried chicken, and braised beef entree were all pretty nearly inedible (extremely overcooked and dry), as was the asparagus. Oysters were good, but were not included in the buffet as implied by the original announcement. The wait staff seemed to be spread very thin. It was extremely difficult to flag down our server when we had a question. And the noise level was deafening. Very hard to carry on a conversation.

   I’ve been here a couple of times since I live in the neighborhood while the food is absolutely phenomenal. I think the service and the overall atmosphere doesn’t match the high-quality of the food. Our server waited about 15 minutes before taking our drink order and then forgot to come back afterwards we somehow got our food before our drink order. The ironic thing about all of it is she was obviously prioritizing other tables above Ours. She kept checking on a six top that seemed to know the manager very frequently while the food is great. It’s extremely small portion so it’s difficult to even split. It would be nice to have some more shareable on the menu.

   The vibe in this place is awesome. Our 2nd time visiting. The menu has a great selection but doesn’t overwhelm with pages of options. Crabcake sandwich delicious. Mushroom tart delicious. Definitely coming back soon.

   New Spring menu is spectacular: Asparagus soup to die for. Guest had what she called "best scallops I ever had". Chicken sandwich back on the menu and is wonderful.

    When I see ridiculous surcharges added to the final bill…I’m not coming back. Three words: “Kitchen Appreciation Surcharge” - they add 2% to your bill instead of adjusting their menu prices appropriately. It’s too bad because I just end up tipping my server less and never returning. You don’t adjust your pricing by tacking on various surcharges. We got through many many decades eating out with such absurdity…
