Food was good...just did not provide the value other fine dining establishments provide in and around Wilmington.

Yummy food! Probably the best steak I’ve ever had.

The bone in ribeye was delicious. It was cooked perfectly and salted perfectly. It was delicious!
Kohl was a great server and took really good care of us. He was attentive and friendly.

Our favorite restaurant in Wilmington! The food is always cooked and seasoned perfectly. The service is friendly, professional and attentive. What else can I say? It is unusual to consistently get your food cooked exactly to your preference - ask for your steak medium rare and it always has come out medium rare! The portions are healthy and the prices are in line with the quality of the food, service and ambiance. I think it's the greatest value in the area!

Since we were not told when making the reservation that they were serving a Chinese Take-Out Menu instead of their regular menu, the first reaction was horror and disbelief, This is an excellent place for superb beef, and expectations for a holiday feast like we had had last year, I was profoundly disappointed. I would never have booked the reservation had I known they were serving something "special" instead. That said, the quality of what they were serving was excellent when we ate it, but the disappointment ruined what was to be a special evening. If you are serving something entirely different your early reservers should at least have the option of bowing out if you didn't plan on the food you were expecting.

Excellent steaks and flavor in all of their foods; wonderful drinks and even have White Chocolate martinis with real Godiva White Chocolate, not the fake kind. Highly recommend!

In a town not know for quality steak houses, TrueBlue rises well above the rest. All four meals were exceptional. I ordered the park chop it was huge and perfectly cooked M son had \the choice ribeye.also cooked to perfection.
Each day they offer a selection of steaks, both choice and prime versions and carved in their own butcher shop. You order whichever you select by the inch with one inch the minimum. So no one ever says, my steak wasn't big enough. it always is.
The menu contains many other options that will fill any need.
Since moving here, Ive asked many locals who served the best steaks with few offering a response. I now know the answer.

Our evening at True Blue was great. We took our time talking with the the waiter about his likes on the menu and recommended cocktails. My Wife and I had the tartar for an appetizer and it was very good. We followed that with a fresh herb salad and the Chicken and Salmon for our meal. Overall we were very impressed and it was also encouraging that the owner was out talking with us and other customers about our experience. I would definitely recommend this to friends.

I was prepared to be bowled over, but was disappointed. The bar was OK where we had a pre-dinner drink. The barman was great. My husband did not like the ambiance. The appetizers were great. We had warm olives and a cheese platter. However, the main course left a lot to be desired. I had chicken (which was undercooked) and the vegetables were very sparse. My husband had pork (which he said was tough) and our friend had prime rib (which he also said was tough). So not a good meal, for the high price.

We went to True Blue for our anniversary dinner and since I selected the restaurant on a whim, I was a bit anxious about what it would be like. My lack of research paid off!

While initially concerned it might be too noisy, the energy didn’t prove distracting as our table and several others are arranged in nooks or afternoon other plenty of space between them. We both had cocktails and my partner highly recommends the heat of the Amante Picante while I quite enjoyed the freshness of the Cat’s Whiskers. On a whim, we ordered the cheese and charcuterie board, which provided ample samplings of small batch cheese from in and around North Carolina, three different meats, and accompaniments of olives, crackers, amazing Dijon, sweet honey, and crispy almonds.

We each had a steak (Throwback and By the inch) and both were prepared to perfection. My partner was especially pleased with the preparation and taste of his rare Waygu filet. My tenderloin was delicious, but the “steak sauce” on top was a bit too sticky (microwaved?). The Stilton atop the sauce was amazing, however.

For dessert, we shared the pecan pie which was outstanding and, as much as we enjoyed everything else, the pie took the cake for us.

The staff were remarkably attentive and if our waitress became occupied by her 6-top, another staff member checked on us and helped keep things moving, but never in a way that felt rushed. In total, we were probably assisted in some form or other by 5 folks, everyone of whom was pleasant and seemingly genuinely interested in how we were doing.

While I tried True Blue on a whim, my experience taught me it’s one of a very small number of higher end Wilmington restaurants that’s worth a repeat visit.
