We are local residents and Valentine’s Day dinner was our first visit. We absolutely loved it! The service was terrific, the food was delicious (portions were perfect) and we felt the price was reasonable. We especially liked the ambience, the fact that the background music was soft, the lighting was perfect, and the tables were spaced enough so that it did not feel crowded. We also liked the room we dined in very much, a very beautiful setting. Needless to say, we will be back. Thank you for a very special dining experience.
Fabulous atmosphere, the dinner was amazing, the grounds are beautiful. We will be back!
The entire experience was wonderful. The service was excellent and laid back yet polished. The food is outstanding. Portions good value for money as well. The design-led ambiance with the fireplaces and lighting is perfect. This time we had the Bibb lettuce salad which was great and the short Rib with Romanesca was the best I’ve ever had - anywhere. Outstanding food and wonderful experience yet again. Can’t wait to come back.
We for either myself othe place but just not enough food for either my wife or myself, but otherwise it was nice
This is a treat to go to this location and have such a wonderful meal. The noise level is quite high, especially in the evenings so some effort to bring it down would be appreciated. This is by far the most sophisticated restaurant we have in this area.
Lovely evening. Imaginative cuisine. Beautifully prepared and served. Highly recommended.
Beautiful, relaxing dinner for 85th birthday.
Our server was exceptional & went out of her way to make our experience fun & memorable.
The Grimaldi Family
The food was outstanding. I rarely eat everything on my plate and both my partner and I left our plates totally empty. Every single bite was delicious — I got the crispy chicken and he got the short ribs.
Loved the food, history of the property, interiors and ambience. Overall outstanding. Will be returning soon.
A lovely, elegant but rustic restaurant. Top class food and service with an excellent affordable wine list and a long list of high quality cocktails and beer on tap. The service is friendly and casual but very professional. Dishes of note included the pasta, the terrine and the excellent beet salad.
I will be back!
The food at Troutbeck is very good, but the past several times we have been there, the kitchen has been completely overwhelmed. The span between appetizers finishing and entrees arriving was over 45 minutes tonight. The last time it was even longer. While they offered to comp drinks and dessert which is very nice, the problem seems to be chronic. I hope they get this issue resolved because it’s a lovely place with good food. One note is that the past two times we were there, there were two tables of ten in the dining room. This made it very loud and was cited as the reason for the delays.
My husband and I loved Troutbeck! Food was great and the service was perfect!
Food service was very inconsistent! My daughters meal was served ten minutes after the other four entrees. Our water glasses were not refilled the entire dinner. Dessert was the best part by far!
Another excellent dinner at Troutbeck, this time for a birthday. The evening would have been far more enjoyable if the people at the next table hadn’t felt that they wanted everyone in the restaurant to hear what they had to say. The main dining room suffers from inadequate sound proofing, but otherwise the experience was terrific.
Three friends celebrating a birthday - surpassed expectations and we are definitely returning.
Great service with excellent food and ambiance
The Troutbeck experience is elegant, yet country hospitable. The service is unrushed, but crisp. The menu meets varied tastes. No matter who you are, you deserve the Troutbeck experience.
If you're looking for a well-appointed property where you can relax in a nicely designed hotel, you'll find that at Troutbeck. However, if you're someone who has a weekend home or lives in the area, you're likely to find an over-priced restaurant with little to offer. The menu is extremely limited and the burned grilled cheese I had wasn't great. The staff members are very nice. The building itself is interesting and the decor is a decidedly nice version of Scandinavian/Soho House/minimal comfy design. There is great art (that comes from a gallery in Chelsea and the piece I loved was 20k). Overall, it's out of place for something in between Sharon and Amenia. They could do some work to offer a little more to people who love that corner of the world instead of existing as a foreign entity awkwardly living amongst it.
Overall, food was fine. Desserts were outstanding. My wife’s octopus appetizer and steak entree were very, very good. My lobster gnocchi appetizer and squab entree were just okay. The wine list needs to be expanded. The first bottle of wine served was corked (happens to the best of us); but at the end of the day, the list would benefit from a wider selection. Service was very good, room is awesome. Cocktails and bar are great too.
Delighted to find such great food nearby in a perfect setting for this area! An architectural gem
with outstanding food is a winning combination.

We live right next door to Troutbeck and it is a great pleasure to be able to come to our "neighbor" and have such a good dinner. We have learned to make our reservations for sunday evenings, if possible, so that the noise level, which on other nights is waaaaay to much for us, is very doable.
we think the food is excellent and the service has gotten progressively better and better.
I was very disappointed that troutbeck did not honor the price fix menu that was offered during Hudson Valley Restaurant Week. Worse, there was no attempt to accommodate my party of 2. I expected some attempt to accommodate, but nothing was offered and the restaurant was practically empty of diners on that evening.
This our3rd visit since they have reopened. Well worth the 45 min. Drive from our home.
Gorgeous setting. Unique property. Attentive staff. Attention to detail. Impeccable
Cozy. Outstanding on of a kind
A wonderful fine dining destination. Lovely setting.
I felt the portions were very small & the menu quite limited.
This restaurant was exorbitant in price for a Brunch. I would never recommend to anyone. Eggs Benedict were $24 which is absurdly expensive.
We have been using Hudson Valley Restaurant Week for over 7 years to try different restaurants in Dutchess County. We had many wonderful experiences as their motto is "Chef's will feature their best dinners to promote business". The new owners of Troutbeck have done a fabulous job of remodeling the Inn and service is top notch. However the three course dinner only offered three entrees: a small eggplant & noodle dish, beef stew or a hamburger plate. Are you kidding me ! My wife does not eat beef and she ordered the eggplant which was good but petite. I was not going to order a hamburger for dinner so choose the beef stew. Had a lovely kale salad and then my stew arrived. I found 4 small bite size pieces of beef and 2 tiny tiny purple potatoes in the broth. I had to wait over 5 minutes for waitstaff to ask for a spoon as only a fork & knife were supplied. I am glad Troutbeck uses local suppliers but really this is not the way to promote business. Maybe they really do not want to participate in Restaurant Week.
Stew was way overly salted. Little meat. The ice cream was poor , not creamy. Dollar store quality.
Waitstaff was topnotch.
I love Troutbeck! Food, rooms, staff, overall cozy ambiance! Wonderful!
Great Brunch with Great Service. Troutbeck is a wonderful place to have a meal for stay for the weekend.
Amazing. Chef is top notch fine food elaborate flavors and presentation.
Great food in a beautiful and tranquil setting. Great outdoor activities!
Very pleasant meal, locale and service...Sunday brunch menu a bit lean, but it had what we were looking for.
Wonderful meal and service. The food was great and even satisfied the palate of a 10 year old that is notoriously finicky.
The menu is very interesting, innovative and well prepared. The restaurant is very warm and friendly. Glad to have Troutbeck back in our area and wish them a long and succesful time.
This was not our first visit, we enjoy returning, and we are never disappointed. The renovation of this historic property is exquisite and the grounds are beautiful. The dining room is very comfortable and the interior design is tranquil and pleasing. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and very willing to accommodate requests and to indulge diners time for their private conversations. The cocktails and wine were delightful. The appetizers, main courses, and desserts were all excellent and inventive. The octopus and artichoke appetizer was so delicious that I didn't even want to share it! A wonderfully welcoming and comfortable evening.
Beautiful location. Attractive restaurant. Good food. The service was friendly. Our table was a bit large for 6 guests (It was able to accommodate 8-10) - but once we filled it with shared appetizers it made sense.
I would recommend Troutbeck for the ambience and location - not for the food. We had a good time but it was not because of the food.
