Trombino's Bistro Italiano Ratings and Reviews
I just lost the entire review...Oh well. Bottom line: veal way overcooked after reminding our waiter to make sure it wasn't! I had made reservations with the note that this was my husband's 70th birthday. We have been here several times & had wonderful service by Jay & another very tall young lady. Thomas was terrible! We had to keep asking for more bread, wine, etc. etc. Doubt we will ever return. Sooo disappointed! This was our place for dinner, when we visited Albuquerque.
One of us at the table ordered lobster. It was cooked beyond being edible. She couldn’t even get the meat out of the shell. She then ordered crab legs. They were so extremely salty, they too were inedible. We all have eaten at Trombinos in the past and loved it. This was the worst food experience for one of our diners.
Not our first time, won't be our last. Started with the bruschetta, had never ordered before, the bread was toasty garlicy deliciousness and the topping was fresh. I had salmon cooked perfect. An Eggplant dish , chicken piccata and chicken Marsala were ordered by the rest of my party. They were all extremely pleased. All the staff was attentive and on parr for what we paid!
Thanks! Great meal. Seafood Diavolo is BOMB! Thanks! Great meal. Seafood Diavolo is BOMB! Thanks! Great meal. Seafood Diavolo is BOMB! Thanks! Great meal. Seafood Diavolo is BOMB! Thanks! Great meal. Seafood Diavolo is BOMB! Thanks! Great meal. Seafood Diavolo is BOMB!
we celebrated a birthday here following a day at the balloon fiesta. we were taken on time for our reservation and the wait staff were friendly and efficient. the two of us had ravioli: one lobster and one meat. both were delicious. the side salads (little italy and garden) were fresh, crisp, chilled and delicious. and a special cupcake for my birthday topped off the evening.
It was my birthday celebration from two of my friends. The Veal Parmagiano was good, not great. The spaghetti and marinara on the side was o.k. The bread and the olive oil was good. The Tiaramasu was outstanding! The Peroni Beer was great! All in all, it was a great dinner. Our waitress was great, very entertaining.
Definitely not the best experience we've had at Trambino's. It was homecoming so there were a lot of big parties. Service and food was very slow. Refills were difficult to get, I had to get the sweetener myself, and my daughter's pizza was soggy.
The food was wonderful. Also my husband left his phone and when I called to inquire, the manager personally called me back and had found the phone. I was able to go and get it before the restaurant was open. Very accommodating. Our family enjoyed the food and the service was outstanding. Definitely be back.
Excelllent meals. Everyone was more than satisfied. Portions were large and very filling. No one had room for dessert. The restaurant has been around for a long time and always serves great food in a great atmosphere. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Absolutely fabulous restaurant - it is bigger on the inside and looks and feel much better than the outside view! The atmosphere is very authentic, great décor and ambience with a European flair. The service was outstanding and the food just as good. Great menu selection and far removed from boring chain restaurant food. The location is ideal for nearby hotel visitors who don't want to venture far to find great food and yet experience a very unique and delightful meal with good company. Highly, highly recommended!
We celebrated my in-laws 65th wedding anniversary. They are full-blooded Italiano and this is the only restaurant in Albuquerque that even comes close to authentic. Our server was great and everybody was very accommodating. The only reason we gave four stars for service is that when I made the online reservation there was a place for special requests. I indicated that we wanted a small cake with Happy anniversary on it. That never got delivered or feedback that it couldn't get done. So much for special requests. It was a wonderful time for all and the food was excellent.
We had a 9:15 pm appointment. There was no one at the front and we waited until we realized that if we don't ask to be seated we will probably still be standing here. The staff was all hanging out at the bar and we were told the hostess left. We were then taken to the booth area and the booth was dirty with crumbs and oil. All around us was messy and it seemed they were closing. Three other couples walked in after us. One loud couple behind us made it unbelievably awful for us to enjoy our meal. At one point I could not hear my husband. We finished out meal and left. Our server was the usual polite. Nothing extraordinary that would make me rate this as a 5 star service as we have had in the past. They probably shouldn't offer reservations after 9 pm if staff is ready to close shop at 8:50pm.
Overall acceptable. I am from NYC and have a high bar for good Italian restaurants, thus somewhat prejudiced. My only meal at Trmbino's was a standard capellini with meat sauce and
meatballs. The pasta was cooked properly, al dente, and the sauce was good but not exceptional. The meatballs were a bit of a disappointment, rather bland which I assume is to make them palatable to a general clientele. More italianate seasoning would be in order (oregano, garlic, etc.), although I understand the difficulty to make sauces and seasonings appropriate for "all audiences" in a family-style restaurant and thus toned down a bit. Generally, the menu selection appeared very good, even with some veal on the fare, the prices seemed adequate, service was fine and food quality and preparation in the 3 and 4 star area.
I would recommend Trombino's to others and would certainly revisit myself. Not quite up to a NYC Luna (now defunct), or a Carmine's or San Pasquale's, but without the volume, specific clientele and access to raw materials available in New York this is to be expected. Thanks.
