This a great restaurant for a special occasion because of their attention to detail and fine menu selection. We have continued to go there through each ownership. It has always been consistent. We have never been disappointed.
Second visit to Tris. Bar none, my favorite place. When my expectations couldn’t possibly exceed the first visit, Tris wowed is from start to finish. Our service was perfect. The time spent with the Sommelier pushed it over the top. As a native east coaster eating blue crabs my entire life, I’m an aficionado when it comes to crab cakes. The crab and kimchi cake is the second best crab cake I’ve ever eaten. Fresh jumbo lump back fin crab was the star of the plate. That sweet little drizzle of balsamic on the wedge elevated a classic into a new era of what a wedge should be. The A5 wagyu simply melted. It was a birthday celebration ever to forget. Tris is up there in price and it is worth paying for. When you look around the dining room even the patrons know to put in a jacket, wear a dress and had smiles all night. Leave your jeans at home and enjoy an evening at Tris. My only hope is that their management actually read these reviews.
Chef Austin wanted to personally Thank You for your feedback and kind words about your experience. Chef is going to take your experience and pass it on to his TEAM members at TRIS. He and the TEAM looks forward to seeing you again in the near future at TRIS!
Great meal with family, great service. One steak was overcooked but all else was good
Tris (formerly known as Hubble and Hudson) is one of our all time favorites in Houston. We went to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary for a late lunch. Everything was amazing. For over 12 years we have been going and they never disappointed. Stay for all 3 courses and you will be back for more.
Mitchell was fantastic, attentive and informative of the background of each dish and of the restaurant. The Korean Poached Crab and Octopus a La Plancha made us want to lick the plates. The sauces on every dish was the star clearly.
Only points of improvement could be adding some lower price point wines to the mix of such a vast selection of excellent wines.
My girlfriend and I went for our two year anniversary and experienced the absolute best service we have ever received at any restaurant ever. The food was delectable, the staff conversation was amazing, the attention to detail is unparalleled. I would highly recommend the dining experience at Triss to anyone!
Outstanding restaurant, great food, professional staff!!! Can't wait to be back!
Everything was perfect!
We are so lucky to have such a high quality interesting restaurant in the Woodlands.
Have been a fan of Chef for many years.
Overpriced. Poor food prep. Actively telling others not to visit this place.
Great food and service. Lobster bisque was divine
Superb, as always!
Overall my husband and I had an awesome experience. Waited just a few minutes at the bar before being seated at our reserved time. Had the TRIS wedge salad which was divided for hubs and me. Pork belly was a delicious treat as well as the candied pecans. I had the seared scallops with the risotto and spinach - absolutely yummy. Hubby had the striped bass - he cleaned the plate, so that tells you it was good. We were treated to the crème brulee bread pudding as it was my birthday - all graciously served. If we had a minor compliant, it would be that we were seated at a very small table . It was noisy. Next time we'll request a booth!
We went to Tris for lunch. He had the poached crab as an appetitzer which was excellent. I had the Tris burger which was also very good with truffle fries. My friends got the steak ravioli and the chef burger. The lunch was enjoyable, the service was excellent. I can't wait to come back and try Tris out for dinner.
The special selection meat board was superb! All elements of the meal and evening were flawless, and we enjoyed celebrating my daughter-in-law's birthday with family at TRIS.
For the price the dinner was mediocre. I had the striped bass which was bland and dry and the key lime tart which had the consistency of jello and was disappointing. Our four other guests gave mixed reviews. This was our first and last time
It was really good but I just don’t know that I can justify the price. Menu had options for New Years but the venison was over cooked in my opinion and the crab was just weird and a bunch of flavors that didn’t really seem to meld. Those were both main courses.
Great early dinner on New Year's Eve.
Excellent service from the first step entering..
Food excellent, especially given the holiday occasion.
Timely and well done, near perfect execution by front and back.
Beautifully creative menu options, well balanced and approachable. Nice without being arrogant or intimidating, which was a plus with us bringing our elderly parents along!
How was TRIS you ask ? Well, one word, amazing!! 4th time here. Korean crab app, lobster bisque out of this world delicious- ness. I had the simple delicious and will order again scallops. Other people who had the filet( wagyu) was stated by both as the most delicious and perfect steak they ever had. Desserts. We ordered 3. In order of faves - Bread pudding. Banana Pudding. S’Mores.
Highly recommended. You’ll thank me later. Enjoy .
Met a friend visiting from out of town. The cocktails were fantastic. Charcuterie...burrata was a bit
Don't know, maybe we just happened to visit on an off night at Tris in the Woodlands. The Yelp reviews were all very good, so we went with the crowd and tried a menu that is a bit different from the usual - many times that is a good thing, but not on this night. There were 4 of us dining, and after a couple of misses with red wine suggestions by the waiter, we decided to order a bottle of white - but they have a VERY limited white wine list - only two (2) Pinot Grigio wine offerings. After our 2 flight wine tasting, we settled on a decent wine and I ordered the recommended lobster bisque, Thai Patagonian Toothpick fish with shared sides for the table. I enjoyed the presentation on the lobster bisque - a bowl with 4 cubes of lobster meat was placed in front of me, and then lukewarm to cool bisque was poured over it. It LOOKED delicious but was way off temperature and so rich with cream it gave me a stomach ache. The fish was described to be "sea bass-like" but was like an old lump of white fish long forgotten in the bottom of the freezer. I only ate 2 bites ($24 a bite) and the waitress must have known how bad it was because she didn't even bother to ask how my meal was cooked. Our tab for 4 with tip was almost $400 -
I was truly disappointed in the food and cannot recommend and will not ever return.
This was a Christmas Eve dinner for my wife, her pen pal from England (of 60 years!), and her penpal’s son and partner. It was such a treat to take them to one of our favorite restaurants. The service was perfect. And the food...wow! It’s always delicious for us, but our guests haven’t stopped talking about their meals. Thank you so much for making their Christmas visit such a special one.
Courtney made the night so special. It was my birthday. The food and service were amazing.
The food and service are amazing!
Every review speaks about the food, and our dining was no different. Awesome! Well deserving of a 4/5 star Houston restaurant.
What is not often noted, is the wine list. Fairly good domestically, a bit thin on the French & International wines. I approached their wine Sommelier (Josh) and asked if they had some additional Red Burgundy's not on the list, as there was only 1 Red Burgundy on the wine list (for over $400). He was absolutely fabulous. I described my price point, and what I was looking for. He had some Burgundy's that he didn't have enough bottles to place on the list. After just a few minutes of discussion, we agreed on a wonderful Pommard wine (& price, which is negotiable when not on the list). THAT is the type of additional service you just don't find often.
We dine 2 to 3 times a week in Houston, (where we live, at all price points) and rarely go up to the Woodlands., We had a special occasion to celebrate, and asked our friends that lived in the area for recommendations, ALL suggested Tris.
Our tastes and quality standards are a bit picker than most (beyond the overused "foodies" designation). This is the first high end restaurant in the Woodlands that we would gladly recommend, and return. Many "nice" dining establishments up North, but none near this standard.
Kudos! Well worth the visit, but be aware, you will pay for this high quality, but IMO, well worth it!
I can’t give enough praise for this wonderful restaurant. Everything was beyond perfect, and was a great way to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary.
Great food and service. We will definitely be bacj
The food was great.
Wonderful as always! Always treated with the most exceptional customer service and every time we go is such a great experience. Incredibly grateful for the wonderful hostesses, wait staff, managers, and to Chef Simmons who makes it so great.
Phenomenal! Busy Friday night two weeks before Christmas so the noise level was pretty high. Aside from that, this is not a place to “go eat”. This is a place to enjoy a true dining experience.
The wine list is extensive and full of wonderful surprises. Our Sea Smoke Ten Pinot paired beautifully with our starters. Any oyster lover will flip over the pei oysters that came on a smoldering charred plank. As soon as it arrives your senses come alive from the visual presentation to the aromatic delight that graces the table. We were warned that they take a minute to prepare, it was worth every second!
We enjoyed our wagyu filet and seared scallops. The potato truffle gnocchi may have stolen the show. It’s rich but it was not over served. Enough to enjoy for both of us. Scallops were seared to perfection and the filet came to the table cooked exactly the way I wanted.
Then there was dessert. Banana pudding. Full disclosure, I am a banana pudding aficionado. I make it. I eat it. I love it. This however was like nothing I’ve ever had. Deconstruction that was just sick! For me....the ice cream portion I just didn’t like. That was fine, my wife ate it. I ate the rest. A banana diplomat cream, meringue bars, brûlée’s bananas....Jesus, Joseph, Mary and all the Saints. If I was in death row, this would be my final meal. I would have a triple order of cream with a double order of bananas every night if the week. Whom ever created this belongs in the dessert Hall off Fame.
Will we return to Tris? Is tomorrow too soon?
The wife and I go check our places we’ve never been to for our anniversary and this place came highly recommended. It did not disappoint! This was the best combination of great food and great customer service we’ve ever had. Chef Austin Simmons even stopped by our table which never happens to my wife and I because we look like we’re 18 and nobody pays attention to us ever. This place did and along with the outstanding food, they’ve got themselves customers for life.
I’ve never been disappointed at TRIS, and this continues. The food really shines, the pancake crab starter is so good we had to ask for bread to wipe the plate! I love how even the guys doing valet are knowledgeable about what dishes they like, and they ask what you ate, I have never seen anything like that before!
Food was phenomenal we enjoyed scallops with truffle risotto with shiitake mushrooms! Banana pudding was beyond believe!
Great all around.
The service was excellent, as always and the food was phenomenal. They always manage to put something new and exciting on the menu and execute flawlessly every time. They made special accommodations for our party cheerfully and we genuinely enjoyed our waiter. It really made my husband’s birthday. We’ll be back!
The food here it’s absolutely outstanding!! It gets everything perfect. Price and flavor are a perfect match!
We enjoyed the Big rib, Sea Bass and my daughter (vegetarian) had a Thai bowl with tofu. A tasty lavender rosemary infused lemon drop martini and a buttered bourbon. The wait staff bar manager and chef were amazing as usual. My husband celebrated his 61st birthday and it was very memorable. Go there and see why they are the only 5 star restaurant in The Woodlands, and maybe Houston as well! Very class act! You will not be disappointed!
Anniversary dinner for my son and his wife. We had a wonderful time. Max, our waiter was attentive friendly and informative. Had the poached butter crab and octopus, both were outstanding. The steaks were prepared perfectly and a friend of our son treated us to a dessert board filled with truffle candies, creme brule bread pudding, deconstructed s’more and a fabulous piece of carrot cake. Everything was crazy good !
Server was knowable and very nice. Enjoyed it overall.
The food is very good but overpriced. The wait staff are very casual for such a pricy, upscale restaurant. They spilled water on the floor every time they refilled our glasses(two different waiters), very chatty. The waiters were nice though. For some reason my open table reservation made weeks before was cancelled the day before. Good drinks. Lobster Toast was delish!
Outstanding as usual !
