Restaurant was woefully understaffed. We were seated for over two hours (thank goodness we weren’t planning to go to a show); during that time we had wait staff at our table only 4-5 times. Water glasses remained empty on the table for well over 20 minutes. Menu options were limited, with nothing remarkable about the food or its presentation. This is the kind of place that gives “hotel restaurant” such a “meh” reputation.

The service at Triomphe was indolent and the food was overpriced and ordinary. Go elsewhere.

They have a very small menu. When the waiter came to take my order I was informed that they didn't have the two menu items I was interested in. Ended up leaving and dining elsewhere.

Arrived a few minutes before a 500PM reservation. They were not ready for business and after standing around unaddressed for 10 minutes we departed. Cannot review the restaurant as we were never seated and did not dine

The service was very slow and the portions were quite small. Given how expensive this place is, we just felt we were getting ripped off. Like the joke was On us. We have no problem paying for a great value but this felt really unfair.

The wine list was not available. They only had crushed ice for bourbon. No decent bourbon and the entire staff was not knowledgeable. Food was good but the amount small for the he price. No decent wine and the brownie was hard as a rock. Big disappointment. You

Beautiful dining room, lovely quiet atmosphere. Food taste was very good, but I'd have to say they took the French small portion attitude to an extreme. 3 of the 4 of use left decidedly hungry. Plus, personally I found $23 for a glass of unknown white wine pricey – but I'm not from the city, so maybe I'm uninformed. Service was pleasant but exceptionally slow–but it might have just been the night's staffing. Location was very convenient to Theatre Dist.

Fine for for pre-theatre but nothing special . On plus side quiet and Very warm and friendly staff. The service was too slow at first but in the end they came through and they got us out on time. But a little nerve wracking until food arrived. Limited menu. Bread excellent. Short ribs quite good; chicken Milanese just ok. Too bad they don’t have more than one fish choice. A little pricey for what you get. Steps to get in and out but doorman very eager to help.

Horrible experience. I would not recommend Triomphe to anyone whatsoever. I made a reservation on November 1st for Thanksgiving Dinner for 3. I invited two friends who had been especially nice to me this year. I received multiple confirmations asking me to confirm reservation, which I did. Each time I received notice that indeed my reservation was confirmed. The final confirmation was sent to me Thanksgiving morning. Again I confirmed. I arrived at Triomphe 10 minutes early to find the place closed. I walked around with 3 invited guest looking for a place on a cold and crowded Thanksgiving evening. The manager was contacted several times, when I finally spoke with her she was nothing less than rude. The place is closing in January for renovation, unless management changes, DON'T Go.

A lovely spot for dinner close to Grand Central...good access for commuters and my friends staying nearby. Our reservation was after the theater crowd left so it was quiet and intimate. A good choice for dining with friends who don’t live nearby.

We've been in New York for a few days in mid-November every year for the past 20 years and have eaten at Triomphe every time. Usually we are going to the theater afterwards, and the staff is great at getting us out of there on time without us feeling rushed. This year we didn't have any time constraints. The service was as excellent as ever, even though our waiter was new. The ambiance is elegant and quiet, although the noise level can go up a little if the small dining room is full. We shared our favorite appetizer, scallops with mushroom sauce, as well as a new favorite, the lobster dumplings. Our main courses, duck a l'orange and short ribs, were also wonderful. The duck was beautifully spiced and slightly exotic, the short ribs had all the best comfort food flavors. We also very much enjoyed the Israeli cabernet sauvignon. (Reconati, or something like that.) We were too full for dessert, but have had many memorable ones in the past. The restaurant is pricy, but probably no more so than any restaurant of this quality in NYC. (I did notice that they have added a couple of less expensive items to the menu, but that's not what we go there for.) We will keep going back!

We celebrated our anniversary last week and the restaurant was wonderful. The food was outstanding, and the service very attentive. A complimentary glass of champagne finished our dining.
Many thanks!

Delightful food in a small but tastefully furnished settting with a genuine, unpretentious feel. Unfortunately one of the waiters was unexpectedly absent but they managed to cover it well enough.
The scallops and the Barramundi were exquisite and the value may have seemed better if the exchange rate had been too!

We decided to have multiple appetizers and it was delicious.
To start...the bread was accompanied by homemade truffle butter, made with just the right balance.

Heirloom Tomato Napolean, Smoked Salmon Carpaccio, Jumbo Scallops (OMG - fabulous) and the Escargot with Garlic Hazelnut Butter (never had the hazelnut in it - excellent). I would definitely go back.

Please note...do not order Decaf Coffee. It was the only negative. Very watery and didn't taste like brewed.

I waited for twenty minutes in an empty restaurant for a staff member to even appear. They weren’t busy, they just couldn’t be bothered to do their jobs. I seriously could have robbed the place, as there was no one there. When I finally did get service, it was on par with a fast food establishment. All that for nearly $200. I won’t be back, and I highly suggest you never go!

It was bizarre. I felt like we were a burden to the servers even though we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while. We could hear them talking about us in the kitchen! Really expensive for small portions.

We stayed at the Iroquois hotel which made it very convenient to eat at Triomphe for dinner. The staff was friendly and attentive but the place is small and there were very few customers. We went around 6 pm for a pre-theater meal and it was perfect timing. I had the scallops and short ribs and my boyfriend had the lobster dumplings and the duck. Neither of us were disappointed. We shared the chocolate lava cake for dessert, it was a typical chocolate lava cake and it was good. The food we had for appetizers and dinner was wonderful.

Surprised that this place was wide open for pre-Broadway show dinner but it was 2 doors down from the hotel we were staying at so we took a chance based on the good reviews. My wife and I arrived and although the bar and high-top area were filled, the sit-down resturant area was completely empty...uh-oh. However, our concerns were soon alleviated by the excellent service and ambiance. The food was absolutely outstanding. We had the Lobster Dumplings and Grilled Octopus to start, followed by the Beef Wellington and Duck Breast A L’orange with a nice French Wine. So glad we picked Tromphe to have our anniversay dinner. This place does not dissappoint!

None of their dishes was all that special, except for the deserts. Their service was very nice and friendly, and for us most importantly, fast. We would recommend this restaurant for a quiet pre-theatre dinner for a couple or a family, but if you want really good food, you must go somewhere else.

We were most impressed with the attention we received from the staff. That, on top of an incredible escargot and generally good food plus a truly calm, lovely and quiet atmosphere make this a real find in the vicinity of the theatre district.

The food is fine; if a bit over-priced. Restaurant Week menu including skate wing as an entree was the reason for choosing Triomphe; and they didn't have it on the menu that night. Very disappointing. The waitstaff were very nice about it, but since it was the rational for dining there I wouldn't return.

the biggest disappointment was that both my husband and I had ordered the skate from the restaurant week menu. However, when our dinner arrived it was not skate but Branzino, much to our surprise. I understand that sometimes products do not arrive when they are ordered however under the circumstances I believe it would have been best if we had been notified before the dinner was placed in front of us. I must say that I mentioned this to the waiter and he immediately brought a complementary order of short ribs, it was delicious but, I would’ve much preferred skate. our appetizers and desserts were both delicious. We will return .

Fine meal at Triomphe, which was surprisingly quiet on a Friday night -- maybe because of the rain. We had oysters on the half shell, clean and just a little salty; they added horse radish and red caviar, leaving the only seasoning choice to be lemon, but the combination worked well with the slightly salty oysters. Scallops with mushrooms were delicious, but a relatively small portion (two scallops, one for each of us). Barramundi was perfection, in a delicious sauce, and the ribeye was done right. We had the baked Alaska for dessert, visually stunning though more impressive for what it was than how it tasted (not to say we didn't finish it). You pay full price at Triomphe but you get full value, and if you're looking for a sedate environment, this is it.

My first time dinning at Triomphe and it was great. My friends and I went for NYC Rest. Week and it was well worth it. The escargot were great and the short ribs were amazing. Also we had the lobster dumplings and they were out of this world.
