Buena comida y extraordinaria atención en el corazón del Theatre District
We arrived late to a mostly empty room. We were served quickly and the food was intoxicating. The wait staff was friendly and prompt and took extra care in providing every need
Great value for excellent food. My only disappointment was that I thought I was going to a classic NYC French restaurant. Instead of a hostess with a French accent, I quickly realized we were in a restaurant attached to a hotel. Notwithstanding, the food was terrific and reasonably priced.
This was the best place in Manhattan to celebrate a 60th birthday dinner.
Came at 9:50 for a 10:00pm dinner reservation. 2 people at the bar and no staff anywhere. the dining room was deserted and they were clearly done for the evening. we left and found a different restaurant. would never try again
The best thing about Triomphe is it is relatively quiet. It is expensive. A regular cocktail(Rye Manhattan) was $24. There is no pre-theatre menu so everything is ala carte which adds to the expense. Food is good but not great.
Great dinner before great theatre. Breast of Duck and Beef Wellington ... definitely not in Kansas anymore Toto!
The three of us each got the power lunch (3 courses in 60 minutes). What they fail to advertise is that even when they only have two other occupied tables, it'll take 30 minutes for them to get your order. But 3 courses in 90 minutes isn't much of a selling point.
On two separate occasions, the staff brought the wrong dish to our table. Their mistakes led to the power lunch taking over 60 minutes *even if* We didn't count the first 30 minutes.
Perhaps I'd be more content if the food was better. A disappointment on many levels.
Our favorite French restaurant anywhere. The food, service and ambiance are not only exceptional but also consistent. We are delighted with every visit.
Triomphe is an authentic French dining experience and it's absolutely fabulous! I say EXPERIENCE because it is something to enjoy and savor. Every bite was delicous! It's classic and very special, portions are moderate to large actually and our table of 5 took our time to enjoy a variety of items and delicious wines over 2 hours of PURE YUM! Although they have a lovely tasting menu at a very reasonable price we chose to order a la carte and share quite a few starters. Ingredients are all so fresh, and of great quality. Salads are accented with homemade dressings and many special touches ... figs, pears, chevre, pomegranate and a delightful citrus undertone for perfect balance to the palate. The oysters are pristine and prepared with hors radish and a hint of garlic - the freshest I've ever had! Sides of potatoes and green beans are plentiful to share but the highlight of the meal was the Beef Wellington - perfectly prepared, decadent and it melted in your mouth. Again, the best I have ever had - this is definitely the place to enjoy such a special dish - it's fresh, firm but tender and the pastry shell was crisp, light and flakey accented with the most flavorful fois grois. All of the tastes combined well yet kep their succinct and unique flavors in every bite. We finished off with espresso and baked alaska, again, the best ever and plentiful to share. It was magnificent and a good choice for a birthday celebration because it lights up the table! We dined at 745pm on a Saturday night and learned that they have a big rush for pre-theatre dining so it was quiet, intimate and slow paced at that time so I highly recommend a later dinner so you can enjoy conversation and the beauty of the room - ambience is lovely, decorated to perfection, as well, and they also have a cute and cozy bar and lounge area! The service is very good and we were attended by 4-5 staff and they all had a special role for the table - I highly recommend Triomphe!
Awful service. Drinks had to be sent back. Second ones just as bad. Tuna overdone. Bleak looking dingy room
It was quiet the food was very good and it was reasonably priced
We dine at Triomphe often (we stay in the attached Iroquois Hotel) often and it is always a very pleasant experience. The atmosphere is quiet, perfect for conversation, the menu is very good, and innovative, the food is excellent and well prepared and the staff is super! One evening when they were short staffed our waiter took care of a couple of tables, and served people at the bar, was friendly and polite, not stressed, he was fantastic. This was an extreme case, but the staff is always polite and kind. Highly recomended!
Very nice restaurant. Excellent for business lunch or quiet conversation.
Continues to be a hidden gem in the theater district. Food is well prepared and presented. Service is impeccable.
We had a wonderful pre theater meal. My wife had the lobster in a flaky pastry and I had the wellington. Both expertly prepared. We enjoyed our meal so much that we returned after the show for desert and coffee. The staff was very professional and friendly and we will be returning the next time we are in the city.
Exceptional tasting menu with very good wine pairings.
There wasn't a course that wasn't excellent and $35 for 7 wines and port unheard of in Manhattan.
A lovely experience.
Food was great but servers were very inattentive and there was only one other table
I have never been more disappointed in my life. I had been looking forward to dining here for months with my boyfriend, but the timing never worked out. Well, I finally got the timing to work out, and now I don't have the words. Awful? terrible? dull? never, again?
Very pleasantly surprised! We were looking for a nice place where we could bring our own wine and this came as highly rated....and true! Great service, food delicious and overall very nice evening. Would highly recommend esp if you want to BYOB!
The restaurant week menu was great, the food was delicious and the service awesome. In particular, the flexibility shown toward our children was much appreciated
We ate here before the theatre. There was only one waitress for the entire place so service was slow. When you need to ask for another glass of wine you know there is a problem. We ordered the Flambeed Baked Alaska for dessert, while the dessert was delicious the presentation was a bit of a let down. We ordered it as we saw the presentation at the table behind us (dessert lit on fire!). Ours didn't come that way. The Baked Alaska was just left on the table. When I asked the server if it was "missing something" he said, "Oh!" and left for several minutes before he came back with the "flame" part of the dessert, by then the moment had passed. The food was excellent, I just wished the service had matched it. I'd eat here again to give them another chance.
We've enjoyed many good meals at Triomphe but our dinner Thursday was a disappointment. As soon as other guests left for the theater, the room, though small, was practically empty without the festive vibe of other diners enjoying their meals and each other. Our waiter has been warm and gracious in the past, but he seemed particularly stressed on this night and his mood impinged on our pleasure. The food was very good but not spectacular enough to make up for the other deficits.
The food was great. We had the escargot, green salad, trout ( dad wasn't too happy about the string beans being to firm and the ends not cut), braised short ribs ( soft and tasty), WHILE CHOCOLATE PROFITEROLE, and FLAMBÉED BAKED ALASKA. I was so full I wanted to take my profiterole home but the waiter was saying the desserts would melt and wouldn't let me take it. Very weird because the profiterole was breaded with creme inside so I didn't understand his problem. The indian looking waiter who delivers the meals is a bit weird. He takes your plate very fast even when your not done. Didn't like that very much. Felt like they wanted us to leave.
This the first time I have been to this great gem but won't be the last. The staff was very professional and the food was out of this world! Great place!
Very nice dinner all around. The short ribs were delicious. The oysters so-so. The pasta was lovely.
We enjoy Triomphe very much. The food and service is very good. The menu is a bit limited, but there is always something different to get. We both had duck which was tender and flavorful.
We needed to find a restaurant near the theater district that was also offering a restaurant week menu. We were extremely happy with Triomphe. It is a intimate restaurant that does not have room for a really large group. We were a table of 4 and were very happy with service, food, wine list and nice additional treats from the chef. We will return even if it's not restaurant week!
service was sub par, all of the wine glasses were dirty, my hot water mug was dirty, had to get changed wine glasses more than once. waiter cleared a wine glass from our table before we had even finished our bottle, bottle wasnt left with us, wine was not poured properly.
20% included tip because of RW - wouldnt have given such a high tip if i had a choice. won't be recommending this place to anyone.
great for before a broadway show.
walked from restaurant to sondheim theater to see Beautiful.
Every thing about Triophe was quite wonderful from the bread with truffle butter to the escargot , fish course beautifully presented ,then the baked Alaska ,although that wasn't as good as I expected seeing everything else was so good
Delicious, meticulously prepared food with a French flair. Intimate, beautifully appointed dining space.
Loved the food and the service. The chef's tasting with wine pairings was a great value and thoroughly enjoyed. It is the kind of restaurant that will become a go-to for me.
First time to be disappointed in the main course. Trout Almondine was practically flavorless. Saju Bistro down the street offers a lovely fish far superior. Last time to visit.
This was a superb culinary experience. The degustation with the premier wine selection worked outstanding well. The staff were particularly knowledgeable, welcoming and obliging. It's not cheap but worth every penny.
Triomphe always deliver. Food is great, The staff is attentive but not intrusive. Tables are well spaced, and you can actually have a conversation. Also, good for theater because they will get you out on time.
Don't waste your time here. This is not authentic French cuisine and the waiters are not knowledgeable about he menu.
I ordered the Beef Tenderloin Wellington. It seemed as if the beef was not cooked inside the pastry but rather that the pastry was put on top. Lacked finesse and favour.
My partner's lamb was unseasoned and sloppily plated.
The decor is poor. Hostess was cold.
A complete disaster of a restaurant.
Quiet elegant spot not to big not to small. We were introduced to it by friends from Paris who thought it was superb too! Portions just right and served to perfection.
The staff was terrific but I felt the food was not special and expensive. The ambiance was lovely and it is delightful to dine at a restaurant where you can hear your companions.
