Delicious food and ambiance before going to a concert!
We were one of five tables present for dinner. We were seated quickly by a server who ran to grab another menu (they only had three) but then we were left alone for 20 mins. No one even came to give us waters. We finally flagged down one of the 6 employees who were standing behind the bar. A server brought us water (with a fly in one of the glasses). It took quite a while to get three margaritas and then another 30 mins for our food to arrive. Once it finally did, it was quite tasty! Highly recommend the French fries! Yum!
We enjoyed the Downtown Dining dinner menu. Serving was excellent, food tasty. Overall menu offers good selection. Will be back.
Burgers taste as if they came off a grill!
We enjoyed our Downtown Dining experience at Trio. First time there and we will be back.
It was just okay... Wasn't bad, but wasn't magnificent either. I'm in no hurry to return again. There was nothing special about it.
We had 7 people that went for Downtown Dining & everything was great. Good food, great price! We will go back.
It was downtown dining week. We ordered guacamole and chips, hamburger, chocolate cake. It took 40 minutes for the appetizer to arrive. The entree came out a few minutes later. We then waited for our waitress to check back and bring dessert. When she finally did, we were there for close to 1-1/2 hours. We got the bill and our dessert to go. Turns out our dessert was a store bought peanut butter cookie. They failed to mention this.
While the food was good. Except for the disappointing dessert switch, the service was terrible.
There were only 4 or 5 other tables of customers when my friend and I arrived at 11:30 AM. We were seated promptly and our order from the predetermined Downtown Dining event menu was taken quickly. I ordered the Chihuahua Burger platter (Chihuahua cheese, lemon garlic aioli, bacon, avocado, regular fries). Our server advised us that they ran out of regular fries so she suggested substituting sweet potato fries. I don’t like those, so I requested fruit instead. My friend ordered the only other Downtown Dining choice, the Cubano sandwich. We both ordered the only dessert offering for Downtown Dining, chocolate cake, along with coffee.
We then waited more than an hour to be served. When a table of 3 that arrived after us was served long before we were, we complained to the Manager. He apologized and said that he was short staffed.
Our server finally came to our table and asked if we were ready for our cake. We advised her that we hadn’t been served our entrees yet. She apologized, then turned her back on us to take the orders of the table next to us.
When our orders finally came, I had sweet potato fries on my plate. The waitress said that they were out of fruit.
I ordered the burger medium –it was well done. There was no cheese, no aioli, a few shreds of wilted red lettuce, and 1 very thin, partial slice of avocado. It did have mustard. Maybe they ran out of aioli.
We had to cancel the coffee and get the cake in to-go boxes because we had to get back to work. It took quite a while for our server to bring the boxes to us. We asked her for the check. She left again and never came back to our table. We opened the to-go boxes to see that they gave us cheese cake! Both of us are lactose intolerant, so we left both boxes at the table.
We went to the bar to ask the bartender if he could help us pay our bill. He went to find our server. She processed our payment and thanked us. Her tip was exactly $1.
Nice surprise. Large portions would come back
The food was great although they didn't bring what we ordered. The food came out quick but after that it was hard to get service even though they were not very busy
Had reservations for a different restaurant, but had booked the wrong date on a very busy Milwaukee weekend. Just about everywhere was booked...the only opening we could find for our group of 7 was at TRIO, which was a few blocks away. The place was relatively empty for as busy as Old World Third Street usually is. They didn't have a table ready for us yet when we arrived, but pushed two hightops together. The menu was bar food - maybe a bit better than basic bar food. No kids menu which was disappointing as we had two kids with us. Was hoping for a chicken sandwich - none available, although they offer grilled chicken breast as an add-on to salads. This seems like it would be a really fun bar. But as far as a restaurant, this wouldnt be my first choice. Food was decent, and service as good, but they really didn't want to work with us on any menu modifications for the kids, for Gluten Free, etc. And service staff was not really personable. Professional, just no extras out of them.
We came for a before playoff bucks game. Very glad we made reservations. Service and ambiance was exactly what we were looking for.
Brought a team from out of town to Trio for an after work get together. The restaurant's ambiance is really nice. However due to the poor service and the food I will not be returning. The waiter rarely came to our table. It took forever for our food to be served and for us to get drink. When the food did arrive I ordered the salmon was overcooked. It was a dry and unseasoned. Once our food was served the waiter never returned to our table. Mind you there were only our table and one other group that were in the restaurant at the time. We have to find him to get the tech and pay it. Service was just poor.
Trio was nothing special, just normal resturant. Disappointed in"event" menu. Extremely limited. We chose Trio because of menu we saw online.
To say our experience was a disaster would be an understatement. Our reservation was incorrect twice even though I called to correct it and spoke to someone about it. We were not greeted by a waitress for 15 minutes. It took almost 20 minutes just to get our drinks. Our waitress clearly forgot to put our food order in came back and we had to reorder.
our plan after eating was to be able to go upstairs and play some games. when I made a reservation I had asked the person if the game room would be open they assured me it would. When I had to call and correct our reservation the day before they again assured me the game room would be open. When we walked upstairs there was no sign to tell us it was closed for private party.
I think one of the worst parts was when our server came to tell us that she was sorry for the service. She then tried to claim that she was the only server on that day. I clearly saw four other servers and multiple bartenders.
We will not be going back.
Vg service, very large salmon salad and blackened chicken mac and cheese. Waitress was superb, and brought extra chicken as she thought perhaps there was only ltd chicken in the dish (there was plenty) but the offer was very much appreciated. She also found a house Reisling even tho' not on the menu!
Good food, great service
Good casual restaurant with unique appetizers and entrees. Fun atmosphere and great place to go before or after a Marquette Basketball game.
The best thing about Trio was its proximity to the Fiserv Forum and its willingness to take our large group. Unfortunately, multiple orders were wrong - which is understandable when there's a large group. However, there was no apology or courtesy, even after I took the wrong order so that our group could still make it to our event on time. Finally, it took over 20 minutes from when we asked for our bill for it to get out to us, which was frustrating given that it wasn't very busy in the restaurant and they knew the time of our event. Our food was fine, nothing special, and everything else was average or below.
The Appetizers were OK or we would have rated the overall food even lower. My Cheeseburger which I ordered medium was Rare, and two others who ordered basic Hamburgers medium-well said they were extremely over cooked and dry. My wife’s BLT had a nasty hard roll and the bacon was inedible, limp, like it was made 6 hours earlier for Bloody Mary’s but unused and set aside. We understand it was a busy day with both Marquette and Bucks games but after many great experiences at Brass Alley (apparently same owners, Trio being a new concept), this was a major disappointment. The ‘game day menu’ was extremely limited to begin with, that’s why we were ordering Burgers and a BLT for dinner. But even at that, it was well below out very limited expectations. The drinks were fine and the server was doing what she could. It was the kitchen (and whoever pulled together the ‘Gameday Menu’) that was the problem. No we didn’t send it back because this had taken almost 2 hours and we didn’t want to miss the Bucks game start with a half hour redo of some burgers. We just ate some of it paid up (gave a full tip for the server) and left with a bad taste in our mouths. That’s saying something if we went over to buy $11 canned beer at the pre-game rather than having another one or two at TRIO.
Ordered wings, over cooked and tough, ordered blackened chicken wrap, was ok but the blackened part was missing, beer was not cold. Stay away!
Google said this was a cajun restaurant, it's not. That was the first disappointment. First stop restroom where I found myself in a stall with no TP, ugh. Table was likely wiped with a dirty rag as it was streaky and not clean. Bottom side of my clear wine glass was covered with a damp thick white film from being washed upside down and left to sit. Both the bartender and server had to have seen that before it was given to me, it looked bad. I asked about the seasonal vegetables that came with my entree, was told it was zucchini and squash. "Great" I say, I like squash and zucchini. Well what I got was perhaps 7-10 pieces of dice/cubed zucchini, nothing close to a full serving. Lack of vegetables aside the rest of the dish was nothing to write home about. Last complaint... the kitchen was far behind, we were told by our server, because of a group of 15 who were eating when we arrived. Just my opinion, if you know you will be serving a large party (most groups that size would make a reservation on a Saturday night), would you not be sure you had the staff on hand to accommodate them as well as the rest of your patrons? This is the first on line review I've ever written but felt I needed to. If you just want a quick burger and have no expectations then go here. Otherwise there are many better places in MKE. I won't be going back.
We had 4 people out to dinner. 3 of the entrees arrived a full 15 minutes before the 4th entree was served. There were about 6-8 very drunk and loud people at the bar who were making quite a scene and the staff did nothing about it. Would NEVER come back here to eat.
Sonja one of the managers as well as Nikki our service were exceptional. Conversation and recommendations by both were spot on, Great people , great food, great service, great time . Thanks Trio for making our pre event dinning experience a good one.
PS : great Happy Hour 👍🏻
Free appetizers on Bucks game day
We had a great time! We made a reservation and we got there and they didnt know about the reservation but the hostess was awesome and got a table put together for 12 super fast and our waiter was awesome! We had an amazing time and loved the atmosphere.
I was called 2 hours before my reservation time to inform me that the entire place was closed for a private party, even though my reservation was accepted and confirmed by OpenTable. Please get your act together and do not accept reservations when you know that your entire facility is closed for a private event. My guess is that you guys knew about the event much sooner than 2 hours before my reservation.
Great atmosphere on a great street! Drinks started with the Berry Impressive which was very impressive. Husband loves Soul Boxer so the Old Fashioned was a hit with him. Starters included the Grilled Veggie skewers with hummus and pita which was healthy and yummy. Wings were awesome. I had the salmon burger which was flavorful and different than a basic hamburger which was welcome. Husband had fish tacos which he raved about. Couldn't find room for that chocolate cake, but wow....looks amazing and will have to be back to start with dessert!
We heard about the new Trio Restaurant from friends who visited there for dinner before Bucks game. We decided to try it this week, and we were extremely impressed by the great new menu, and friendly service. The place looks great, and we even went up to the second floor to play some games. The Manager stopped by to check on us, and gave us the low down on when they rebranded, and new menu. Everyone was very friendly, we definitely will be back. You need to check this place out if you are heading to a game or concert!!
Service was slow and wasn't busy, got a few things wrong on order. Food was ok, pretty standard for bar food, nothing that would draw me back to go here again.
Disappointed on several fronts. While the website acknowledged it was Trio, the menu is still from Brass Alley. I was expecting the Brass Alley menu and the new Trio menu was disappointing. Food was just ok. I ordered Mac and Cheese and it was pretty obvious that it had sat out for a while prior to being served. The service was very slow and inattentive. It took a very long time to get our food and our service was gone for long stretches of time. The place was practically empty so unless our waitress was also cooking, there wasn't an excuse.
There are far too many great options in Milwaukee, I won't be back.
Changed menu when website still had old menu which was the reason we went there. Very slow service. Dark, drab place.
Terrible experience. Waited 20 minutes to be waited on at the host desk....then was seated..no one came to get our drink order or anything. After another 10 minutes of watching a few of the wait staff walk by we decided we had enough and left. Won’t be going back.
The food was good. Very good shrimp seafood omelet although i thoght the menu added avocado. We were first served a cup of cold day old coffee which they replaced. The impossible burger sub of the old world burger was excellent. We came early and were the only customers but food still took 30 minutes. Would try again when they they have been open longer
We had an excellent time at Trio. It was the first visit for all 4 of us. The service was great, as was the food. We loved the Halloween decorations. Would definitely go back again next time we are in Milwaukee.
Trio is transitioning its menu over to a bar and grill menu from the prior restaurant’s New Orleans themed menu. The variety and flavors were good, but most of the food was very over seasoned - even the batter on the cheese curds and fried chicken. If the seasoning is better controlled, the food will be much better. Service was good. I would give this restaurant another chance after it’s been open for a little longer.
This has recently changed over, so many things were still a bit in flux, especially the menu. I think over time it should improve. The food was nothing special, ok, but not overly expensive.
