I have been to Trios many times, but it was several years ago. I wanted to try it agian, but doubt I will be going back. Ina nutshell, I thought it greatly overpriced and the food OK at best.
My friend and I took a long lunch to celebrate the holidays. As always a reservation is highly recommended! The chef's special soup, a seafood chowder, was full of seafood and flavor. The chef special whitefish was superb. We got a place in the back which was a little quieter than the other parts of the restaurant filled with holiday cheer.
Typically I enjoy my lunch experience at Trios. My dining partner had a salad with salmon and said hers was very good. My ahi tuna salad was not up to normal Trio's standards-the salmon was cut in a large piece-which made it difficult to eat and not very flavorful-could have used wasabil. The greens were very lightly dressed-could have used more of the wasabi cream. The server did not inquire why I had left so much of the ahi left-typically servers at Trios would have asked about this. This is the first time I've dined there that I was not happy with what I ordered.
Our family was celebrating a birthday and Trio was a great location for us to celebrate. The food, service and ambiance was outstanding. Keep up the good work.
Trio has great service. A numerous amount of servicers always moving makes it so you don't have to go without. The biggest issue was the noise. It was busy on a Thursday and once you open the door its booming with noise. Food was okay, nothing to really brag about. Small menu with a little bit of everything.
I hadn't visited Trio in a few years and was glad we chose to do so last Thursday. There were several holiday parties in action that evening, so we got the little table in the back near a kitchen door. Our server was slammed, but once Sean intro'd himself, we completely forgot the door and settled in for the best meal we'd had all week. All of Sean's recommendations from the Butternut squash soup to the Brussel Sprouts to accompany the Short Ribs were spot on. I will remember Trio when I travel to the Cincy area next year
A textbook example of how inattentive service and a sarcastic waiter can conspire to spoil a pleasant evening. Our first bad experience at this venue, but probably our last.
A great variety of good food that is over and beyond hamburgers and sandwiches and the normal salad fare
Wait staff very responsive to questions and needs.
Have been there several times and am never disappointed. The food is always good as well as the service.
Trio's has to have the best Chilean Sea Bass preparation I have ever had! When I want fish, this is where I go.
Food is always good here; has never disappointed. Given we were dining during the busy holiday season, we never felt rushed and our server was pleasant, helpful, and checked on us often. Food was as described, hot and fresh. Fast becoming a go-to place for us!
What I like best about Trios is that I know whenever I go there I will get great food and excellent service. No gimmicks...just a excellent dining experience. Is always a good choice when treating friends to dinner.
I am from Louisville and was meeting a cousin, who lives in the area, for dinner. She recommended Trio over all the other restaurants in the mid-to-northern portion of the metro area. Seating, ambiance and service were excellent, as was the food. We each had fish: salmon and Mahi-Mahi. Ther presentation and savory flavors were the best! I don't get to Cincy ofter, but I will return next time for a romantic evening with my wife.
Very polite staff, food was excellent and everything came out in a very timely manner.
I have eaten at Trio's many times and am always pleased with the food, the food presentations and the excellent wait staff.
I took my 21-year old daughter to celebrate her progress in college so far. Food and service were excellent, as usual. The house salads were very tasty. I had the Mahi topped with lump crab and a lovely cream sauce. Squash and zucchini were grilled nicely. Taylor had the 6 oz filet with mashed potatoes. She, being a meat and potatoes person, loved both. For dessert, we enjoyed the apple crisp a la mode and banana cream pie. Both were wonderful.
While Trio is a pricier restaurant, it's great for speacial occasions or just for an opportunity to treat yourself.
I had high expectations and they were not met. Always heard this was comparable to Embers or Eddie Merlot. It is not comparable. Atomosphere and service met expectations, but food did not. Both my husband and i ordered filet mignon, both were overcooked. They took them back and even took them off our bill, but the new steaks were just okay. Not anything special, could use some flavor. Maybe it was an off night in the kitchen, but i don't know if we will go back to find out.
My wife & I were there celebrating our 36th Anniversary, we were treated like royality. Not sure if the fact one of servers in a very good friend of mine but I' guessing that this is the way all guest are treated.
Super warm, super food, super service and a value price. What could be better?
Fantastic food and even better service. We had requested to be seated by fireplace and the hostess found the perfect table. OUTSTANDING service and food.........looking forward to next visit!!
We've been eating a Trio for 21 years. This our 2nd experience with food that was okay but not fabulous. The MR burger came M-well, the Seafood Pasta came over sauced and scallops and shrimp were over-cooked, & the goat cheese medallions were on bread points that were greasy with greens that resembled a chopped salad and was way over dressed. I would've chalked this up to an unusual experience except that it was a Friday night when they should have a top staff on, and I ate lunch there on Nov 8 and had a similar experience with friendly by mistake-prone staff and some food was excellent, but some was definitely lacking that special quality. I have to question: what's going on at Trio?!
Trio is one of the places I know I can count on each and every time to deliver a quality meal and excellent service. I recommend it to anyone living or working in the northeast part of town as a great spot for a lunch meeting. Always a good experience.
Fast, friendly and professional service always at Trio. Both my dining partner and I enjoyed the Tomato Tarragon soup. My guest had the grilled gourmet cheese with saratoga chips with BBQ sauce. She said it was delicious but very filling. I had the Ahi Tuna Salad-needed a bit more dressing on the greens and wasabi would have made it a nice touch to enjoy with the Tuna.
I enjoy Trio especially when ii can expense it. When I pay my own way, that is when I notice small portions and high prices. Service is always attentive and prompt. I did notice especially this last visit that the carpet could use a good steam cleaning and prices steam cleaning. It does have a bit of an odour.
Thoroughly enjoyed the brunch!
We enjoyed the buffet and the omelette's were perfect!
Service was also very good, as always!
We love Trio!
Loved the attentive service from the moment we walked in and were seated in a lovely vibrant area. Special recognition for our friends celebrating 36 years of marriage was a pleasant surprise for them. The food was delicious, loved the dinner salad with their house dressing. The Salmon and Grouper had a beautiful presentation and was very tasty.
Not a big dessert person however the banana cream was incredible! The service flowed, very attentive and friendly making for a special evening and experience.
We ordered "small plates" for dinner and a bottle of wine to share and we were absolutely delighted with it all! My daughter and I showed up early on a Friday evening for dinner. But the small plates - appetizer sized dishes - looked so delish we decided to order several instead of entrees. An extensive wine list was proffered with an offer for 50% off any bottle up to $75. We chose a modestly priced merlot - at half price it cost us $20 and it was a very nice wine! We were crazy about the pecan crusted goat cheese served on a flat bread with salad greens. But we were almost as crazy about the grouper sliders and mac and cheese. The three dishes were more than filling. Services was perfect.
Trios is our favorite restaurant. Trios never disappoints.
This was our first visit to Trio, despite living in this area for years. It was a rainy evening and the cozy booth and semi-darkness of the restaurant seemed just perfect for our Friday night date night dinner. We enjoyed our half-price wine bottle very much, along with our flatbread and pizza.
Trio's is like a favorite pillow: you love it, you take it for granted, but if you lose it you are in real trouble without it. We hadn't been to Trio's for a while and I found a coupon which was expiring soon, so we did the jaunt from Western Hills to Kenwood and without a doubt it was worth the trip. They are restaurant pros and it shows: warm greeting on arrival, waitress who is friendly, knowledgeable and there to help, food that was perfect (grouper special for my wife, grouper sliders for me, French Onion Soup which was perfect, a Caesar salad which would make the Mexicans proud, a friendly chat from the manager, and a pleasant "Good Night." It was an unexpected thrill to have such a wonderful experience and we'll be back soon.
Wonderful for lunch, absolutely no complaints
Food was tasty and service was very good. My granddaughter's frenchonion soup was very tasty
Ordered a vegie flat bread. Had a half inch of grilled vegies and was burnt-for $15! Was grossly overpriced. Waitress handled it very well however. Will never go back.
Once again great service, attentive servers and good food make for an excellent meeting place for our far flung greater Cincinnati family. We always enjoy meeting here and having a great girls lunch out. Trio's never disappoints.
I go to Trio often for business lunches, and occasionally for dinner. I have probably dined there 50 times. I have never had a bad meal or dish. In fact, the food has been exceptional on every occasion. The service is the same; always prompt and attentive.
Great food and drinks. Nice quiet atmosphere.
the food was awesome , great atmosphere and great wine and beer list. this was one of my best places to eat and I will definitely go back.
THIS REMAINS OUR FAVORITE, NEVER DISAPPOINTS, FOOD AND SERVICE ARE ALWAYS PERFECT,LUNCHES AND DINNERS DELIGHTFUL
Trio is our go-to-lunch spot in the Kenwood area. A big menu of creative options. Excellent salads and flatbreads. Efficient, professional service. Prices aren't low, but fair for such a good overall experience. In a little strip mall on a side street, it can be hard to find the first time.
