TRIO Ratings and Reviews
We went to celebrate a birthday. The food was excellent but the service went down hill in a hurry. I dont think our server did more than drinks at the start since we never really saw her again. Our family now has a running joke since we asked more than 5 separate times if we could get a bread refill and never saw one. The dessert took about 25 min to arrive after apologize and management was kind enough to take it off our bill.
I've gone to both lunch and dinner here and been very happy in the past but it wasn't the best experience to show off the restaurant to out of town parents...
I have forever ordered the grouper sandwich. But the last several times the portion of fish has been exceedingly small and represents a poor value. This is disappointing. Otherwise quality, service etc are consistently excellent.
I was pleased that I asked for a table in the back area and they gave it to us. Our waitress was really accommodating. Our food was delicious. The side salad was just enough . ( Sometimes they are so big that it ruins the dinner) All in all a lovely experience.
The ambiance was nice. The waitress pleasant, but not very attentive. We had the Shrimp Bruschetta appetizer which was not warm at all. The cocktails were very weak, couldn't even taste the alcohol. The food portions were very small and pricey. The Grouper on the Sandwich was half the size of the bun it came on. The wait for meal was longer than expected. Way over priced for the experience, won't return.
I have been to Trios many times and was very disappointed in the food. It was Restaurant Week and I chose Trio's because of the menu. My halibut was dry, overcooked and bland. The squash also was dry. Our service was blah also. With so many great restaurants in Cincinnati , I will choose another next time.
STARTED OUR EVENING IN THE BAR WITH "HAPPY HOUR" PRICED DRINKS...BEST BLOODY MARY EVER! (THIS IS THE ONLY RESTAURANT/BAR THAT WE KNOW OF THAT HAS THE NEW OCEAN SPRAY BLOODY MARY MIX). "BAR" LIQUORS HERE ARE HIGHER QUALITY THAN MOST;EXAMPLE:SKYY VODKA! OUR WAITRESS WAS WONDERFUL! (I WISH I COULD REMEMBER HER NAME!)NEXT, WE ENJOYED THE SPECIAL GREATER CINCINNATI RESTAURANT WEEK DINNER. THE LOBSTER BISQUE WAS SOMEWHAT DISAPPOINTING..LACKED FLAVOR(WATERED-DOWN?)AND HAD NARY A PIECE OF LOBSTER IN IT. HOWEVER, THE HALIBUT WAS SO DELICIOUS THAT IT CROWDED OUT OUR DISAPPOINTMENT WITH THE BISQUE! THE "SIGNATURE DESSERT", BANANA CREAM PIE, WAS AS ADVERTISED...TASTY AND A UNIQUE PRESENTATION.HAD TWO WAITRESSES WHO WERE ATTENTIVE TO OUR EVERY NEED!
The shrimp bruschetta was excellent although it could have been done without the shrimp.
The service was ok. Waiter was very kind; drinks very slow. Probably could have done a better job trying to whet our appetite for dessert.
We lingered for a while. Wait staff did not rush us but could have come back and asked about our interest in an after-dinner drink.
We were at the restaurant on a Saturday evening and we invited friends to join us. They had never visited the restaurant before this. The problem was that the alarm system went off almost 4 times making it hard for conversation. We were continuously interrupted and it made it very difficult to pick up the conversation. In addition we were not offered any type of offering because of the sound issue which was upsetting. We were celebrating 2 birthdays and we were not told that we would get a free dessert so we also ordered a dessert and had to pay for that. .....My feeling was that 4 desserts was way to many for four people.
The halibut dish was very good .
The food is excellent and the service is top notch. You won't find a friendlier staff or a better menu anywhere.I have NEVER had a problem with any meal and that's why my wife and I keep coming back. Reservations have never been hard to get on the web site but, of course, we usually get them about one week in advance. On the several occasions when we wanted a last minute reservation for Sunday Brunch, we had no problem at all. All in all, this is a great place to eat a very good, unhurried meal.
The food was fine, although not as exceptional as we remembered it to be. We had a Niçoise salad with ahi tuna added - the salad was great but the tuna was tasteless. Service was very spotty. There was bread delivered when we said we did not want it. One glass of wine arrived, but the second took quite a while longer. They did accomodate a request to move tables since the first one was very cold (under the AC duct).
Service was outstanding! Our waiter and the manager were wonderful. The problem was the food. Last several times we were at the restaurant the food seemed to be slipping. This time food was horrible. Ordered steak medium well, first time it came out rare. Sent back to the kitchen, second time came out rare to medium. Staff let me change the order and brought that very timely. Wife had scallops with bacon hot slaw and shaved brussel sprouts. It looked like a pile of a mess on the plate with 2 scallops. Scallops did not taste very good.
Food is not as good as it used to be several years ago.
Trio is consistently excellent. I had a chicken salad without the bread, because I am sensitive to gluten. It could have used more greens and tomatoes to spruce it up on the plate. My friend had a salmon salad with tons of greens and a tasty dressing. Our server was attentive and did not rush us at all. I had the vegetable soup which was full of broccoli and cauliflower. I probably would have preferred more carrots, peas, corn etc., but the broth was very good. The dining room is well-appointed and somewhat fancy; if you want a little more relaxed atmosphere there is an enclosed "porch" that is also very nice.
