The food was delicious and expertly prepared. What I especially appreciated was that it was not oily. They have lots of vegetarian options and we enjoyed trying some of the Nepalese style dishes. We had the vegetable momo dumplings, black dal, coco rice, salt lassi, naan and carrot halwa. Everything was wonderful. The service was efficient and polite. We were there on a Saturday night and it was not crowded or noisy. We would definitely go back there.

A hidden treasure in midtown West. The food is excellent. The service is helpful and friendly. Though they have yet to obtain a liquor license, the food more than makes up for what you might miss in libations.

We were looking forward to the meal - after walking round New York for 10 hours we got to the restaurant - they DONT serve alcohol and NO kids menu We were going to walk out and go elsewhere but they won us around - by telling us were we can buy wine and beers

This was our second visit, and we brought another couple - they loved it. The Nepali preparations are a different and delicious cuisine. They adjust the spice level to your preference. Service is very good. Portions are large and prices are very moderate. If you have specific dietary needs (e.g. gluten or lactose related) it's probably best to have the server ask the chef about the dishes you are thinking of ordering. BYOB! It is a few steps and a right-angle turn down to the restaurant. May be problematic if you use a wheelchair. Being on 56th St between Broadway and 8th Avenue, Tribhaanga is very close to City Center and Studio 54. The entire theater district is a short walk away. A great choice for pre- or post-theater dining. Highly recommended!

Tribhaanga is an excellent choice for Indian and Tibetan food. They have a large menu including many vegetarian options. They offer a wide range of beverages, including a full espresso bar, and are BYOB. Generous portions, moderate prices, friendly and knowledgeable servers, and modern décor. We really enjoyed the momo sampler (we got a combination of vegetable and chicken, steamed) which have excellent seasoning. The Tandoori lamb chops and the Pahadi lamb (also available with chicken or shrimp, cooked with Himalayan spices, herbs & coconut milk) are both also delicious. Try the Gulab Jamun (lightly-fried rice dough balls with a sugar syrup). Tribhaanga is an easy five-minute walk from NY City Center on 55th St so it is great for pre- or post-theater dining. Very highly recommended.

Food was good. Tries to be a higher-end restaurant but gives off a hole-in-the wall vibe. The waiters need deodorant. Place had a damp musty smell. Placemats had stains. Doesn't serve alcohol.

Our first time having native food from Nepal and it was delicious. Very quality owners who serve the table and take orders. Indian dishes are likewise delicious but do not miss having the Rice Pudding. It is exceptional.

Food was okay for indian people, relatively Americanized so more suited to the American palette and not super spicy. But still very flavorful. Service was amazing and very cordial. Super hole in the wall place so not a lot of people/noise

We really wanted to like this place. The staff and the room were quite pleasant and the menu looked interesting. However, the food just wasn’t that exciting in real life. There was one good chicken dish, but all the rest were nothing special. The various daals were bland. No liquor license yet, but you can byob.

While Tribhaanga affords an opportunity to try Nepali cuisine, I couldn’t help but think that the flavors were all a little too subdued, especially for sophisticated NY palates. Being well traveled and well informed, I think dumbing down the spice level and not identifying the more authentic dishes on the menu was a disappointment to us. Also- please serve water right away - that is the sign of a good restaurant. We had to ask for water glasses and water 3 times before we got some.

We really enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The servers were all kind and attentive. The food was tangy and delicious. My daughter and I enjoyed the butter chicken as well as the saag paneer with rice. We would definitely come back if we’re in New York City again!

A new good addition to the neighborhood. Had the sheekh kebab for starters. It came out sizzling and was delicious when it cooled a little. I had butter chicken which was also delicious. My friend had lamb rogan josh which he couldn't stop eating! I tried it and I understood why - again, delicious. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Only negative is that they don't have a liquor licence yet. But I highly recommend it for the food and service. I will be back.

Happy to try this new Indian-Nepalese restaurant after so many raves on OpenTable. I can report the menu choices, service and the food were well worth the visit. The Momo Nepalese appetizer is excellent and with eight dumplings there's plenty to share. The sauces for Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Korma were savory and the chicken was cooked just right with plenty enough to take home. Unfortunately, the booth seating is extremely tight for anyone 6' or over. Luckily there were only two of us. Chairs and banquets are setup in the back but appeared to be geared more for larger parties of six or more. Total Experience -- Enjoyable. We'll check out more of the menu soon but will be doing it via delivery to avoid the too tight seating.
