The food was good and a great value for Boston. However, it is a very loud restaurant and the ambience is definitely geared more towards large and energetic gatherings. We got moved to accommodate a larger party. Our waiter was very courteous and eventually comp’d our desserts. Although the service was very good, I would avoid this for more intimate events.
Great food, very disappointed with the service.
We waited about 20 min for someone to come over to take our drink order. We were also asked to move over to accommodate a large party, which is ok, but I would have expected them to take better care of us in the other aspects of our meal. Our waiter was fine but didn't seem to make an effort to ensure we felt taken care of and the overall experience was frustrating. I live in the North End and have had much better experiences elsewhere-- comparable food, much better service.
Excellent North End joint with a great menu selection.
Best meal I had in Boston. The chef came out and greeted us and asked what we wanted. He really customized the meal to suit our preferences. The food was incredible. Savory Italian flavors and healthy wholesome food. The service was really excellent. Beautiful rustic romantic interior looking out over Hanover street. Highly recommended.
I’ve really liked every meal I’ve had at Tresca. The veal chop is outstanding and the veal piccata was melt-in-your-mouth. The atmosphere is casual and the service is professional and attentive. It does get a bit noisy when all the tables are occupied. I would give Tresca 4 & 1/2 stars if I could
Food was amazing. They even give you an option to substitute pasta for zoodles , which were prepared perfectly. I would highly recommend Trescas
Our dinner was wonderful! We were eating there the night before the Boston Marathon so I opted for a plain pasta dish, but everything they had was amazing. The desserts looked heavenly, although I didn't indulge since it was before the race. It's such a great atmosphere and gives a true "North End vibe"--of the old homes that were converted into a restaurant. It's a wonderful spot for a true Italian dinner.
Delicious food in a quaint restaurant
We were in town for the marathon and wanted a good pre race meal! Tresca delivered on everything from service, great food and value!
Outstanding food before the Bruins game this weekend. Veal par was one of the best I have had. A bottle of wine also not 3-4x times the usual dine in price. Suggest the Quilt from Napa. We will be back!
Amazing restaurant. Staff was so nice and food was absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend and come back.
Tresca was a great place to celebrate our ten year anniversary. The food was delicious. The portions were more than generous. Our reservation time was respected. The staff was helpful. We split the Tresca salad, which was delicious. My husband ordered the tiger shrimp pasta and I had the bolognese. Both were very tasty. We would definitely come here again.
Everything was great except for the loud buffoons coming down the stairs to exit. Wait staff were great.
Love the north end. Had a great time. Got to meet Ray which was cool. Staff very attentive. Food great. A great pre concert place to go.
Nice! Loved the variety of the menu
Overall expected a better dining experience. Made reservation ahead for celebration of our son’s 23rd birthday. They first attempted to seat us at the worst table on the first floor. Asked to be moved to upstairs and still sat us at a rather poor location. There was nobody else dining and plenty of tables open. Window seat would have been nice overlooking the street.
Waiter was ok. Never went above and beyond other than to do the bare minimum. He just lacked enthusiasm and finesse.
Food portions were very large on the main entrees. Appetizers were good and wine selection good but steep in price. Hubby had the Ray Bourque special and was still eating in the next night for dinner it was so big. Son had the chix parm. Said it was ok but he likes it crunchy and it was not. Daughter had another chix dish she liked and I had chix Marsala which was ok. Chicken was small cut up pieces that seemed odd. The sauce was excellent.
No parking unless you find some by luck in neighborhood. If you are there on Sunday it’s free street parking til 6pm then you get tix. Trust me don’t be there after 6 or it’s $40 tix!
Small bar on first floor. Seemed ok. Overall I think you can find a better Italian dining experience in the North End of Boston. Too bad since our son is a huge hockey player and fan. Just needs some Italian hospitality. The host wasn’t good either and didn’t seem dressed professionally. Never even said goodnight or thank you as we were leaving after dropping more than $300.
I loved every aspect including the view from second level.
Great food. selection of fish and wine. Our highly knowledgeable waiter, Christopher, was excellent. Gave us a fantastic description of the different types of fish and preparations, impeccable service, which made our experience very special.
Beautiful ambiance, fantastic bar. Highly recommended!
Tresca is my go to restaurant for the North End and once again I wasn't disappointed. The Nacho Bolognese were excellent and the chicken parmesan is so big, I have already had 2 meals out of it. Richard and his kitchen help all the way through to the servers are top notch.
Tresca is the only restaurant we go too in the North End. We always sit at the bar and get amazing service. Richard Ansara the head chef makes every dish to perfection. We highly recommend Tresca.
Average food. Many other choices in the North End
Tresca is one of our favorite spots in the north end. The food is to die for!
I love it there, but please bring back the turkey kabobs. They were absolutely delicious.
Excellent experience !
We spent Easter week-end in Boston (from Montreal). Fantastic food, great service.
Will go back again!
Fantastic meal. Did not disappoint. Authentic Italian fare creatively presented.
Love this place! We came during restaurant week but opted not to order from the dine out Boston menu. We had the fried calamari app along with the eggplant melanzana app - both of which were fabulous and freshly made. Calamari was light and crisp and the eggplant was seasoned perfectly. I got the carbonara for my entree and it was probably one of the best carbonaras I’ve ever had. The chunks of garlic indicated that this dish was truly authentic and “homemade”. It has pancetta in it and is topped with fresh shaved parm cheese - highly recommend. This dish stole the show. My limoncello martini was enjoyable and our server was great - personable and friendly without being overbearing. We have dined at tresca a few times now and seem to enjoy it more each time.. can’t beat that it’s in the heart of the north end.
Thank you to the Chef for coming out and recommending what to order and pure hospitality.
We had a wonderful experience at Tresca! It was my fiancé's first time to Boston, and first time trying North End Italian cuisine! So worth the trip and the price. The cost was very reasonable by East Coast standards. The staff were very friendly and helpful with tips on things to do and see in the area. I highly, highly recommend Tresca as a destination when seeking delicious food with warm, friendly service.
The restaurant was extremely noisy but mostly because of a table of rowdy men. The bathrooms were not very clean.
Absolutely delicious! Staff were friendly, attentive, and great.
The food was overall fine. Service could have been better
Great Italian food in the North end. We ate there for restaurant week. The fra Diablo spices were adjusted to my taste.
Good food, good (but a bit of an in-your-face demeanor) waitress, but not fantastic atmosphere. I was looking for a darker place, more homey, more feeling that I was in the North End. The upstairs dining area could have been in any city or town. So, if you're looking for an airier, date-like feel room with a waitress who's at the top of her game and energetic, it's good.
Great Atmosphere! Food was excellent!
Everything was good. Service was friendly. Food was delicious. Found it to be a little loud and tables very close together on the half booth half tables up stairs.
So happy we came! Food was great and service was good. The only downside was the noise level(too loud)
Tried this place for Boston Restaurant Week special event. The food was good and the service was amazing. It's worth trying.
Hat trick! The pre meal bread and oil were awesome, the appetizers were great and the entrees were perfect. I had an amazing dinner with my family and can’t wait to go back. My new North End favorite.

Only one server, who continued to forget to put our order in or thought someone else has brought a drink or food. She was over whelmed , and I don’t fault her for the position they put her in. The food was not good at all the pizza was way too salty and the turkey tips were dry and the risotto was not cooked. For a north end Italian restaurant, Italian food was not on the menu.
