Trejo's Cantina - Pasadena
It wasn’t authentic enough. Chips were delicious good deep golden corn tasting with lime in it. But we got a small portion of chips for 6 people. Had to ask for more. My empanada was very good. I think everyone else in the party didn’t care for their burritos, bowls and tacos. Sorry I don’t recall getting black beans at a Mexican restaurant or curry. I wasn’t expecting it to be like that.
The food was ok nothing special got the salsa and chips with guacamole which were 9.50 which was over priced for the amount of chips a guacamole I received Im talking about 1 tablespoon of guacamole and a server must forgot we were there because we were waiting for her to come back to get refills on are drinks because they give these small cups for drinks something I would give my three year old.
Good meal, good value, food took a lot of time to arrive
The food was great but the service was not so great. The waitresses need more service training and be more attentive.
Well, what can I say, it was a tasty taco, but it didnt feel worth the price. $5 for an average taco, Guisados in LA or Pour Vida in Anaheim are much MUCH tastier for an equivalent price.
Amazing options for all types of diets. Recommend the BCR burrito.....wet. The sauce reminds me of home. Wondering if the bottle it and sell it.
It is especially convenient for eating before a performance.
The food was excellent and the atmosphere welcoming. I especially appreciated the service, our waiter was incredible honest and informative.
The beat burrito, tacos and quesadillas. the cheese is to die for.
I went here with my boyfriend and cousin and we all had a great time. The street corn was so good, the bowls had a lot of flavor and the atmosphere was pleasant. Its a bit on the pricy side, however. I think we should have gotten more food with what he paid for, but it was still very good.
Food was very mediocre and way overpriced. Cold and unappealing atmosphere. Margaritas were the worst I ever tasted. Will not go back.
Our first experience was back when it opened, food was delicious and the servings were generous. Last week our reservations was at 2:15, the restaurant side was closed. We were seated on the bar side. The music was extremely loud and the bar top was a bit uncomfortable to eat lunch. The bartender, service was very nice and friendly. When we received our lunch, one of us ordered a carnitas taco, boy you can count the meat on that plate, that's how skimpy the serving was. Our burritos were just ok, somehow the flavor was lost from our first time experience. I will not go back to the restaurant. It's over priced and the servings are just too skimpy.
Nice big, open, friendly space. Staff is very friendly and takes good care of you. Food is excellent, tacos, burritos, quesadillas, everything. Their signature salsa has an excellent rich flavor and not too spicy so everyone can enjoy.
We were quite disappointed by the quality of the cocktails that we ordered, and, after waiting over 20 minutes for an order of chips and guacamole that never arrived, we decided to ask for the check. The server was amazing and was disappointed that we waited so long for a simple appetizer so he gave us one of our cocktails on the house.
The wait staff was wonderful. For the prices of the cocktails, we were disappointed with the quality of the alcohol. The speed of the food service left something to be desired. We likely won’t be returning.
Met up with friends who brought their two young children. We were lucky to get a table that was big enough for the baby carrier and high chair for the older kid.
Exceptional all around. We will go again and tell our friends.
Fried chicken tacos were absolutely amazing! That is all. <3
This is a perfect place to celebrate any special occasion. I chose to take my mom to a Mother’s Day lunch here. My mom was so pleased with everything: the food, the ambiance, the restaurant decor, etc. My mom was happy. And, when mom is happy, the children are happy. :)
Food was ok. Thought it was pricey for what we got. We each ordered a taco, guacamole with chips, corn on the side, and two fresca drinks.
Service was extremely poor, then food disappointment on top of that. It took an hour to get our food. This is basically a bar that serves bad food.
We had a very pleasant time there. The food and service were good and we liked the restaurant environment. Would go back for sure.
Get together with friends
My wife and I, drove from Fresno Ca. We made a reservation with the curiosity of a celebrity restaurant. And very disappointed with the food. I had a burrito, and my wife had the nachos. Burrito came in a aluminum wrapping. Not dressed in any sauces, and nachos we're something that can easily be done by a fourteen year old. Overall experience was dissatisfied. Sorry!
It was VERY NOISY-- I don't consider that ENERGETIC which is what is on the form. I did not like my chicken bowl at all. My friend thought her burrito was OK. The service was fast.
This time not so good. Tortilla soup and cheesecake were great. Other items not as good as before.
Save room for the churro, they are wonderful.
Great food and great service! I’m vegetarian and love that they have multiple vegetarian/vegan options! We had tons of questions and our server was so patient, answered and explained everything, and was so accommodating! Fun music and ambience!
Food is alright. Horrible service. I do enjoy Taco Tuesday (its smaller version of their normal tacos but you get to have variety).
Service was so so, but the food was really good. However, there is ZERO ambiance. It feels like a restaurant at LAX.
Went to use pay by OpenTable, but the restaurant didn't accept it, even though they said they do on OpenTable
Not so good! Wanted to love it in the location next to the Playhouse but yech. Tacos expensive and bad, soup was awful, overall - go somewhere else!
Great food and service
Very poor service. Getting someone to serve us was quite the challenge. Wait staff does not appear to care if customers come back to the restaurant. And we won’t.
I celebrated my birthday there and had one of the best times ever. Food was great, drinks were awesome, and service was outstanding. Thank you for a great experience.
It was a perfect experience for a before show drinks and food. They sat us right away, wait staff was attentive and the food and drinks were well prepared. I would go there again definitely.
Only because of its close proximity to the Pasadena Playhouse.....The food was OK...but it didn't 'knock me out'.....Charging $2.00 for a tiny tablespoon-sized cup of guacamole or extra pico de gallo really annoyed me. I wouldn't have objected to the charge, but I expected a much larger serving of each for that price.
I loved it. Food was good, best guacamole I’ve ever tasted. Went on a game night or something so I get the noise at the bar.
Harsh lighting, waited 10 full minutes to be acknowledged by the wait staff, then they forgot half of our drinks, brought food out separately, then the dish was wrong -- wrong protein, no guacamole (never did arrive despite repeated requests). Then they cleared our drinks before we were even done with them. Will not be back.
Food was eh... ok. Extremely cold in the restaurant. They needed to turn the heat on.! Looked around and almost everyone including me were eating with their heavy coats on. Kind of uncomfortable to eat while all bundled up! And the noise!! Noisiest restaurant I’ve ever eaten in! It’s all hard surfaces and nothing to absorb noise! My friend and I could hardly hear each other talk. Won’t waste my time or money there again. The location is so convenient for Playhouse goers but this is about the fourth reincarnation I’ve been to there over the years. Nobody seems to make a go of it there.
I would recommend their margaritas, but not their food.
