Food was really good and ingredients fresh. Excellent value
Okay for a fast meal.
Everything was fine, good, but almost nothing was great. Perhaps because it was Taco Tuesday, and we went with a tacos only meal. Best taco was far and away the jackfruit, though I didn't have the carnitas, and others at my table were raving about that. Beef Barbacoa was good, but spicy shrimp wasn't really spicy, and chicken and cauliflower were both kind of dull. The Trejo Cerbeza was fine, nothing special. While table's hot sauces were very good, there was no salsa. Would have liked to taste their take on that. Guacamole appetizer was great if small for sharing. And beans side dish was very good, too.
Great place and they were so accommodating also they made sure we were comfortable 😊
Food ok, same as chipotle. Save your money. Went there to try a spin on Mexican tacos. Nothing special.
The tacos are very creative and tasty. Delicious vegetarian options. The chips are guac are not worth it though—$9 for rather crappy guac. Stick to the tacos ($5-$6.50 each) and the burritos. The tacos are relatively large. Lots of great flavors. Healthier than most Mexican food.
It was our 2 year Anniversary and our first time at Trejo's. It was very nice, waitress was amazing. Food is a bit pricey, over $5.00 for one taco and no sides, not even chips and salsa. Appetizers were delicious, we had the empanadas, only get one per order; however very tasty. We'll definitely go back again....Oh drinks were FABULOUS.
Great service, drinks and food. The salsa and guacamole tasted fresh and home made. This is a place worth checking out.
Cantina atmosphere and food at high end prices. El Portal has much better food and atmosphere.
Delicious food- cauliflower and salmon tacos were amazing! Street corn was interesting with the popcorn...My husbands mushroom burrito and my carnitas bowl were worth the value and scrumptious. Tons of choices for alcohol- a definate place to visit for a foodie! Service was outstanding!
Food was great and service fast and friendly.
We are vegetarian and they had great selection for us. Can't wait to go back!!
Good experience. Wish the drinks were a little bigger. Waiter was amazing! Food tasted great!
We were seated at the very first table by the door. Not ideal for conversation.
I thought the food was very good with exception of the salad that I ordered. It was drowning in italian dressing that was very salty. I never asked for dressing on my salad at all and my waitress never asked if I wanted dressing on my salad. She did not bother to come back to our table once my wife told her about the salad. So we gave her tip to the nice valet parking crew. I loved the blackend taco. It was wonderful, I look foward to coming back, hopefully I will get better service next time.
The guacamole and chips was amazing with pistachios. The spicy shrimp bowl was so good! Took a bite of the barbacoa burrito and loved it as well. We faced the outside and the weather cooperated. Good time for all.
First time. Loved everything about it. The food was amazing. Had the Blacked Salmon bowl. The drinks were amazing as well. Our server was named Tobi and she was amazing. She made our experience even better. She was very helpful and so friendly to us. All servers should be like her. Definitely coming back to eat again soon.
I was extremely disappointed at the quality of the food. Service was okay. Being a latina, I expected more. The price was way to high.
Prices are fair, but the flavor was short. My carnitas tacos were so soggy, the tortilla split and they had little flavor same with the other taco choices. The best thing were the empanadas. Get those and save yourself the disappointment.
Great local beer selection. Chips and salsa were good. Worst shrimp taco I have ever had. 4 tiny shrimp on a cold corn tortilla with a not so fresh taste. I ordered the Baja fish taco but received the blackened salmon. It had a small slice of dry salmon. The barbacoa taco was a good size and flavor. The wet carnitas burrito was had a good flavor but man were they skimpy on the wet sauce.
Great food. Especially for vegans. Love the mushroom tacos! Lots of flavor. Attentive service and fresh food.
My daughter and I ate here before a show at the Pantages. There were very few people there- probably because it was early mid-week. We had several different individual tacos, each delicious. I ordered an avocado infused margarita, which was surprisingly good, and my daughter had a traditional margarita. The service was friendly and quick - we had plenty of time to walk the few blocks to the show.
Great staff, super quick with the food.
The Mushroom Asada Burrito was the best thing we ordered!
First visit to Trejo’s - chose the Cantina as it was walking distance from the Palladium. They have plenty of parking options nearby including a valet lot in front of their restaurant. Noise level was loud but not so much that you have to raise your voice. Service was slow despite the restaurant not being very busy. Might have been the kitchen as our server was attentive. Nice selection of taco choices or you could have a bowl or burrito instead.
Food was good I have had better tacos. But overall it was good I would go back.
The food was great! Appetizers were huge, but bowls were on the small size. Still, the food was excellent. And the restaurant itself was beautifully decorated.
The breakfast burrito was awesome.
The restaurant was freezing! And the food was just so so.
It's a casual restaurant, but it serves up really tasty Guacamole and chips, and a nice selection of tacos and burritos - including several vegan and vegetarian items,w which was good....the food was filling and the prices moderate.
My family of 5 enjoyed the Cantina. The food was excellent. The only thing that was missing which our neighborhood Mexican Restaurant provides was an unlimited bowl of chips with the salsa which they refill without asking you.
We heard about Trejo's while watching a Sunday morning interview show with D. Trejo. I was so impressed by the concept as well as the fact that it gives offenders a second chance. When friends came into town, we decided to see it for ourselves. Overall, we were very happy with our visit. The server was attentive and helpful, but not overbearing. Most of us tried the tacos and the general consensus was, "DAMN GOOD TACOS". I like that they offer them individually, as it allows you to try a selection. I had the Mushroom and Baja Fish Taco's, but tried bites of the Carnitas, Asada and Brisket. The tacos are so flavorful and interesting. I definitely would go back to try all of them. The only disappointment of the night was dessert, specifically the Churros. Both my friend and I were so excited about fresh Churros. Unfortunately, both orders (and yes, we each ordered our own because we did not want to share) were quite overcooked. This rendered them extremely hard and with a bitter taste. However, they came with two dipping sauces that were delicious. One a thick chocolate (it might have had chili because it had a great smokey taste) and the other a tart berry puree. I could have eaten them with a spoon though. That will not stop us from returning to try more tacos. Now, I need to check out those Donuts!
Casual. Good atmosphere
First timer & I must say I'm hooked. I'm from the OC but I occasionally go to LA for different reason. So now when I go down I will make it a point to stop & eat at Trejo's Cantina. This place is AWESOME, & the food is off the hook! I also got a chance to meet Danny Trejo himself. Took pictures with my family & I & was real OG, down to earth & the ultimate gentlemen! Thank you Danny for your hospitality & being so friendly to me & my familia! God Bless, & we'll be back very soon.
Went to the Cahuenga location for lunch on Saturday.
The servers were friendly and attentive.
My friend really liked the Shrimp bowl.
I had a double IPA and a Asado Steak wet burrito. Adding the sauce adds about 25% to the cost of the burrito. Received a lot of chips. The burrito was okay, pricy compared to my enjoyment of the meal.
The couliflower tacos are pretty good
We were eating prior to going to Pantages for a play and they got us in and out without delay. Food was wonderful.
This was a treat! I left California 30 years ago to join the Army and after 25 five years there and another 5 in Seattle, I decided to come home. I went to eat there with a friend and we enjoyed it!!! I had three different tacos and chips with guacamole plus wings. My bud had the spicy shrimp burrito and appreciated that too. My beer, perfect and his horchata was exceptionally good. We had to order some to take home to our ladies, and that was well received on our return home. On top of it all, Danny Trejo sat at the table next to me... seemed to be a way cool guy and he eats his own food... another good sign. He was in a business deal it seemed, but really seemed at ease. This whole place was on and I will go back again. Thanks Danny and team, you got this one figured out.
Went out for lunch with my mom and aunt wanted to try something new we were going to see a play at the Pantages, this place is a must try!!! Service from when we walked in was awesome!! The food was really good!! And the value for what we paid for was great!! I am recommending this to all my friends and family! Will definitely be returning soon!!!!
Food just wasn’t good, mixed drinks were less than tasty as well.
Made reservations and they had no table for us. We were going to the Pantages so had no time to wait.
Food was great, make sure to try the churros! Cole was awesome; a fantastic server! We also met Aloe Blacc here, it was nuts!
