Quiet, easy to hear conversation. Gluten free options. Big wine list. Small and cozy. Very nice staff, they gave us free desert treat.
Great!! Loved it
Beautiful little spot. Very friendly service. Lovely outdoor patio, enclosed but enchanting in winter. Food was good, not great. I would go back for service and atmosphere.
After crashing a local wedding, hungry and cold, we stumbled into a cab with no specific location in mind. As we scrambled to find an address for our confused driver, a quick google search for "good restaurant near me" produced the name that came to be our savior: The Tree Bistro. Dressed to impress and starving beyond belief we sauntered into the small entrance and was welcomed by a warm wall of friendly staff and impressively quirky, yet intriguing decor. With little to no knowledge of French cuisine, the waitress provided us with suitable options for the night: salmon and the tree burger. We were overwhelmed by their taste, and the burger's dangerous girth. After a meal full of satisfied moans and lots of laughter, we were offered a free dessert by the gracious owner. 10/10 on all fronts. I can not wait to go back, especially when the weather changes and the garden opens. Thank you Tree Bistro!
It’s an average food. I travelled 1:30 hr each way to get here as Trip advisor said it’s number 4 in New York. I have to unfortunately disagree. I am sure there are better places in New York than this.
My new favorite restaurant - anywhere in NYC. Wonderfully intimate, with an incredibly friendly owner and staff. Nothing was too much trouble and they took care of us - including very specific allergies. The food was nothing amazing! - Perfectly garnished, flavorful, cooked to perfection. The duck breast was without a doubt the best I have ever tasted. The goat cheese souffle was to die for. The service was perfect - and the entire team made our experience special. Come here. You will not be disappointed.
The food taste is really special. Short menu but enough. Always there are some additional daily suggestions. The wine list can cover your desire, I am sure.
Good staff, small place, cozy and the most important: the food is amazing. Taste explosion!
Second time there and reliably delicious food and great service. It was worth the freezing walk to, and from Chelsea! Thé cassoulet, roast chicken and steak droites are all excellent., but every dish that went by looked appealing.
Great atmosphere. Good food. Excellent staff.
Overall a very enjoyable experience.
The food and service were incredible.
The perfect girls night dinner. Impeccable food, great cocktails, attentive but not pushy service. Truly ideal.
Delicious, they gave us free dessert too! Totally going back
Awesome restaurant!!! Wonderful eclectic decor, service was terrific and everything my best friend and I ate from appetizers to dessert was incredibly delicious. We had three bread basket refills!!! For all the delicious food we had the price was amazing. Highly recommend to everyone!
We had a big group different ages and VERY different tastes. Everyone loved it. Good wine. Appetizers unique...fried goat cheese...loved desserts espicially keylime pie and Oreo desert.
Found the place last minute after searching for a late NYE date night option, ended up eating some of the best food we've ever had! The staff and owners were incredibly friendly and fun, very energetic and talkative while ensuring good service for customers. Perfect place to ring in the new year with great people that once were strangers, can't wait to eat here again!
food is fine , for the main course , i donuts prefer , because its a bit salty !
but the truffle fries is excellent ! There is a waitress who is very polite and sincere .
But the other lady , who take care of the wine , she looks a bit rude and arrogant !
for me , i wont come 2nd time .
this is a small bistro , nice atmosphere and environment .
But overall , not worth that price .
We went there for dinner as a whole family. The restaurant has very cozy setting. The plants, family photos on the wall, dim light and etc. The waitress greeted us warmly and immediately served a basket of bread. That is the most amazing bread we have ever had since we left France two years ago. For appetizers, we ordered escargot and trio sample plate. We love the escargot the most. We used the bread dip the sauce left in the plate. Literally, we finished everything. For main courses, we had pork loin, duck, steak and seafood linguini. The steak came with truffle fries. Best Fries ever! The duck is tender and juice. Not dry at all. For dessert, we had creme brûlée and panna cotta. The restaurant is not near major attractions in NYC but it is worth to make a special trip to.
Great service, excellent food.
We will be back!
Tasty food, impeccable service. A little chilly sitting in the outdoor seating area during the winter months.
Fried goat cheese is the stuff that dreams are made of
I have never encountered a more accommodating, friendly owner and staff than those who wok at this restaurant.
Add a cozy atmosphere, very good food, a nice wine list, a garden, and extremely reasonable prices, and it is difficult to find room for improvement.
I hope that there will be room for us next time.
Fabulous neighborhood find. Food was outstanding for a very reasonable price by city standards. Very small venue but intimate without feeling crammed in. Owner on site and very welcoming and attentive. Restauarant was highly rated and lived up to its reputation. The roast chicken and coque au vin were the most tender and flavorful we've ever had. Definitely will visit again!
We walked three miles in a snowstorm to get to our reservation and we'd do it again tomorrow! It was one of the best restaurant experiences we've had in the city. Attentive (but not overbearing), friendly, helpful service. French eclectic music at medium volume. Warm & cozy. The Coq Au Vin was excellent coupled with recommended wine. The kale salad, escargot, parsnip/carrot soup and french onion soup were delicious. Even the baguette met my high expectations for bread. We will certainly be back. Yum.
Tree Bistro was an excellent choice and even for a cold day in December the heated patio was plenty warm. The food is excellent and the tasting board is not to be missed. There are tons of options and the beer and wine list is extensive. The service was quick and efficient and everyone enjoyed their meal. We would go back for another business dinner.
Not knowing New York, it took us a minute (20j to find it so neither of us were in such a great mood upon entry. However, the owner and his wife were extremely cordial and we both enjoyed the meals. I had the special appetizer of zucchini spaghetti and shrimp. My husband enjoyed the steak and Frites. The key lime pie was great and we know our key lime pie. The owner also sent us their special beignet with crushed Oreo inside. Awesome surprise.
The Tree Bistro is worth a visit, great food, great service and excellent ambiance.
Exceptional place! We ate dinner at tree bistro before going to a show. The wait staff were all attentive and very helpful with their wine and food recommendations. The French Onion Soup with Spanish onions and veal stock was among the best we’ve ever tasted. The Green Peppercorn Brandy Sauce that came with the NY Strip was exceptional. And the Rabbit and Gnocchi special was not your usual special. We would definitely choose tree bistro again.
Food and service were excellent. Will definitely be going back.
lovely night. rabbit stew special was amazing, service was great.
I've always enjoyed the relaxed and friendly atmosphere of Tree, but when I was there on Saturday the music was too loud. We kept asking for the volume to be turned down. It made it very hard to hold a quiet conversation, and now I'm not sure I'll be back.
Over rated by TripAdvisory. I ordered a pork loin chop but it was very dry. The dish is very very salty!
Excellent! Better than expected. I do recommend the grilled salmon.
Outstanding food and service. This is the kind of restaurant that makes dining in NYC such a pleasure. Perfect food, intimate ambiance, amazing service. Come to this restaurant.
excellent food and service and lovely conversation with Colm the friendly Irish owner. onion soup and roast chicken were particular standouts
Tree was absolutely wonderful. The staff were accommodating and kind. We had excellent food, an amazing wine list and the owner even showed us around and told us the history of the restaurant. The garden had not yet been winterized, so we could not sit out there, but because we were celebrating a Birthday, they made sure we had the best table in the house. I will most definitely be back and will recommend to all my friends!
I came for the linguine with clams and mussels in a saffron broth. Been hearing about it for the last couple of years. It was everything I had hoped, and more! The steak frites was also terrific. Slightly disappointed with the escargot though. I think they add lemon and dill to the garlic butter sauce which threw us off a bit. Not bad but not expected. Otherwise, an amazing experience.
Really cool place and warm atmosphere ! The food was especially tasting and the wine list so precious! I'd love it !!!
We chose this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews and we were not disappointed. We were first seated in the garden room which was not fully closed off as the weather has been unpredictable. We asked to be moved to the main room and were immediately accommodated. Great food. Cozy. Warm and attentive staff. Will be back
Charming French bistro with an Irish chef and friendly service. Food was excellent, cozy, quirky atmosphere on the back patio, reasonably priced. We all enjoyed tree and would recommend to friends.
This is a small, quaint restaurant in the East Village. We sat on the enclosed patio which was lovely even though it was cool and windy outside. Service was efficient and friendly. Two of us had the sirloin steak which was delicious. Would definitely return.
