Tre Trattoria @ The San Antonio Museum of Art
Great location on the river walk, right behind the SAMA. Loved the ambience inside and the open kitchen. Service was great and quick. Came here for a day date and the food/drinks lived up to our expectations. The pasta is all handmade in house. I highly recommend the gnocchi and smoked Gouda/truffle pasta. The only thing that was a bit underwhelming was the house salad. We will be back to try the pizza!
Great evening out for valentines dinner. Dinner was a bit overpriced but better than a lot of other restaurants.
Always good when we dine! Food, atmosphere and service A+++!!
Start with the pulled mozzarella! You won’t be disappointed!
The food was wonderful and the menu was generally pleasing. The service was amiable if on the slow side of acceptable. The wine list was minimal but covered the basics. Parking was confusing and the one unisex toilet for the entire restaurant was totally unacceptable. The offer of restroom facilities in the (closed) museum and the dark and generally abandoned plaza just didn’t cut it. I’ll leave this place to visitors and conventioneers for a while and then give Tre another try.
We've chosen to eat at Tre Trattoria three times in six weeks. The setting at the San Antonio Museum of Art is so lovely and handy when seeing an exhibit there. We've been inside when the weather was a bit chilly and rainy, and on the terrace overlooking the River Walk when it was warmer. The service is excellent. The pizza is very good, the pasta is very good, and the protein entrees are very good. The wine list pairs well with the food.
Free parking across the street from the Museum and you can walk through the Museum to the back courtyard to the restaurant without paying a fee. Indeed, we recommend you use the restrooms in the Museum, which are larger than what the restaurant can accommodate in its historic building.
Lovely Sunday lunch with out of town guests. An ugly weather day made beautiful with art and great food. My brother from DC had last eaten at Tre’s former location on Broadway. Was delighted that the SAMA location was every bit as good as he remembered.
What a gem! We were in town, from Seattle, and met some friends for brunch. Fabulous location, amazing food, great service! Don't miss a chance to experience Tre Trattoria in San Antonio!
Enjoyed a birthday dinner with my family. Pretty, intimate ambience, delicious food.
Prom date. Great food and atmosphere
Everything we had was excellent. The trout , pasta, salad and appetizers. We’ll be back.
great staff, attendant but not overwhelming
Although we ordered from the restaurant week menu, we had to add one of the cast-iron pizzas as the trip would not have been complete without it ;)
I always go here when it’s restaurant week. You really get the bang for your buck. The crispy trout is so wonderful, tasty, one of the best meals I’ve ever had! I’m not too crazy about the Nutella dessert but my other friends have really enjoyed it. You’ll never have a bad meal at this wonderful establishment. Bravo Chef Jason!
Kitchen and wait staff were having an 'off night' by the server's admission. It did take a good while to get ordered items to the table.
My date and I split the Market Salad that was delicious!!! It has strawberries, apples, seeds, and plenty of Parmesan cheese : ) They even plated it on two separate plates for us. We also had the hand pulled mozzarella with buttered toast, delicious garlic flavor! As for our entrees we had the spaghetti and meatballs and the campanelle bolognese. The spaghetti noodles were a bit under cooked and the marinara was very sweet, with an odd cough syrupy aftertaste. But my date and I both agreed that the campanelle dish was by far the best!
We loved the new location...everything was fabulous...food, great wine list, service. We had a wonderful dining experience.
Great team - Jason Dady & SAMA.
Excellent meal with professional service in an interesting setting.
What a wonderful experience. From entering through the San Antonio museum to the restaurant itself. The lighting and setup of the restaurant is on point. We had a four course meal tonight and it was amazing. The rainbow trout was our main course and the taste and setting of the fish was just to good. Taking small bites so it wouldn’t finish. Service was great always there to help. Refilled your water every time. They have a beautiful patio and brunch on the weekends. No pictures with today’s review because it’s a place to experience yourself.
I visited during lunch for Restaurant Week as I wanted to do some light reading and enjoy some tasty food and that's exactly what I got. I had the lobster bisque which was incredible and the pappardelle bolognese which was delicious and quite satisfying. Eddie kept the coffee coming while I finished the last chapter of my book and didn't make me feel at all uncomfortable for staying after my meal to enjoy my coffee(it wasn't busy at all so it's not like I was hogging the table).
Food and service were wonderful. It’s a beautiful place.
Dinner was very enjoyable. Just had my steak over cooked. Asked for medium-rare and came out done.
Dined outside on the patio overlooking the Riverwalk. Easy, relaxing evening. Brisk January night, but stayed nice and toasty warm with the tower heaters beside us. Delicious antipasti - white beans, golden beets and farro. Enjoyed the chicken. The trout was tasty too! Loved the dessert- RICH: Nutella x3. Definitely will come back to taste the pasta dishes. Thank you, Brandon, for giving us tips on the entrees.
Til the next time we dine.
The outside deck is lovely for lunch. The crispy trout with verde sauce was superb. I'll come back for that alone, not to mention the great service & cool atmosphere.
My lady friends and I had a wonderful experience for a birthday lunch. Seems if its a birthday, they discount some of your food and drinks, and if you are a museum member, there is a discount. We are looking forward to going for dinner some evening. The ambiance is quite attractive, our waiter was attentive, the food was delicious. I am so happy that Tre Trattoria has found a permanent location, I hope, and the the museum has a permanent facility. I am a great proponent of museum tearooms and restaurants. I try to hit them all when I travel.
Excellent restaurant. We will return soon. Good location
I brought a friend to lunch here for several reasons: 1) I had joined the SAMA, 2) wanted to see the new location, 3) wanted to catch up with my friend, 4) add to my Restaurant Week experiences. Tre Trattoria exceeded all my expectations. The ambiance was great, the noise level was perfect even though the place was pretty crowded and our waiter was so very attentive but not a nuisance. The food was exceptional with perfect portion sizes. It is a definite recommendation for friends and I will certainly be back. My only complaint was that the guy at the front desk of the SAMA did not bother to tell me I was entitled to a discount at the restaurant on my over $50 lunch bill.
This lunch was the culinaria restaurant week menu so the value was great and the food was still 5-star.
Cold day so sitting outside along the river was not an option. Inside ambiance was only OK
Great food and great location! We love it!! Will be back a lot.
The 6 of us were there during Culinaria. The food was very good, especially the crispy trout. The house salad was fresh with a dressing that was a little too vinegary for our taste. The day was cool and we were seated at a table right in front of the door so it was drafty. The server was attentive. Overall it was a very good experience . We will return to Tre when the weather is a little warmer as the patio looks very inviting
Wonderful food we had 14 and all were thrilled
Service was excellent
Great dinner and service. I’ll be back.
The restaurant was great overall! We dined as a group of four for a birthday celebration and ate in the outdoor dining area. It had a great environment near the river walk and was nestled between the SAMA and the walking area, so it allowed for good people watching and enjoyment of the nature around us while dining on delicious Italian cuisine!
Everything was perfect! Great food, service and ambiance!
Everything was fresh and delicious. We has the trout and I’d definitely recommend it. Good wine list too!
The service was so bad we had to laugh. A waiter came out more than once and asked at different tables if they had ordered it. Our waiter brought the wrong desert and began to try to convince us it was what we had ordered.... is the wait staff all smoking weed in the back???
Met friends at Tre before a Majestic Theatre performance. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Those who had the Lobster Bisque said it was delicious. I loved my Market Salad , and the Crispy Trout was excellent!
We had a lovely table on the terrace for dinner.
Loved the setting! The patio looking over the river is great!! Prime location!!
The food was awesome!!
The service was good.
It was a special occasion and I had shared this in my reservation on Open Table. Unfortunately, they did not acknowledge the special occasion. I was disappointed in this. However, it really is a great location and good food!!
Yum! Great service! I will definitely return!!
The atmosphere was nice, our table overlooked the San Antonio River, but no one in our party really liked the food very much. If you want a relaxed setting with good atmosphere for a drinks then I'd say go for it, but if you're looking for really good Italian food I'd have to say try somewhere else.
Having followed Tre to various locations, we are not new to the experience. This location has it all! Great food, wonderful service, and a location and view that are spectacular! After enjoying New Years Eve here we returned later in the week for a casual pizza feast. Both experiences were amazing! The lights on the Museum reach of the river were an added bonus!
