The food has greatly deteriorated since a year ago. We used to come here fairly often and the pasta delicious. Tonight, however, the pasta was overcooked and tasteless, and the sauce was watery and lacking in flavor. A huge disappointment.
We go everytime we visit Boston‼️
Average ribeye steak and below average seafood (scallops, shrimp, lobster) . Meatball appetizer was good.
What a disappointment. The mood was EXTREMELY rushed (not Italian) the food was meh (I’m Italian). I was greatly looking forward to a special splurge and I should have saved my vongole for a meal in Providence. I did speak to the person at the desk and he said “ it’s marathon weekend, we just acquired this part of restaurant and if you had eaten on other side you would have had an authentic meal “ too bad for me. It’s a tourist joint.
Great food, great service and would recommend to anyone.
Friendly service, traditional Italian food and drink for good value. We sat very close to the kitchen so it was a little
noisy and busy near us, but that did not detract from our dining experience. Definitely a go-to spot for North End Italian dining.
Pre Marathon meal.... the marinari sauce is outstanding as is the bread. Eggplant Parm was so delicious
Great food and fun energy in a great neighborhood. The main issue was the noise level is so high come prepared to only talk to the person next to you if you are in a larger group.
Food was good, atmosphere great, service was very slow. All the servers were very nice, but not overly attentive.
Excellent food in a very cozy authentic Italian restaurant.
Service was great no waiting for anything.
Of many options in the North End - I picked Trattoria Il Panino and it was a great pick.
We had reservations and were seated immediately. Even when there was a line in the hostess area.
We had the Grillata, veal saltimbuca, and Rigatoni Ragu. Only complaint was that the rigatoni was not hot asI would have expected. The wine and the rest were very good.
The bar scene on a Monday late afternoon was very good. I would recommend.
The lasagna was amazing. As were the mussels we had for an appetizer.
Terrific location in the North End. Had reservations for 6 ppl on a Monday evening. We were greeted at the door and immediately sat in the outside covered patio area off of Parmenter street. Our server was Paulo and he was prompt and courteous with good recommendations. The lobster ravioli, pesto trombetto, veal osso buco and lasagna were all delicious. One of our group added sausage to a penne dish but was disappointed with the outcome - sauce and pasta were both on point but the sausage was not good at all.
Overall, very pleased with our visit and would definitely return.
Amazing food and great service. We went for an anniversary dinner and ordered the meatballs and calamari for appetizers. They were great. For dinner we had the mushroom ravioli and chicken parm. The chicken parm was a little dry for me but the ravioli was outstanding. The service was great and the food came out quickly. All in all it was a fantastic experience. We were running about 10 minutes behind because of traffic and they were able to seat us quickly anyways. Highly recommend this place.
Fantastic food and service !
The Trattoria is the best in Italian food. Best in the entire region and consistently so. This has been our favorite restaurant for over twenty years and everyone who we bring to the North End insists on eating there. One cannot do any better.
Great food, great service, great choice! Everything was delicious, but the stars were the baked eggplant and homemade Tiramisu. Paulo, our waiter, was excellent! We can't wait to go back!
Best Easter Dinner!
2nd time going1st time with friends. We had some issues but our server David took great care of us and made sure everyone had a good food to eat!
Trattoria il Panino is one of our favorite North End restaurants. We have enjoyed dining there for more than 20 years. At our most recent dinner, the service as always was wonderful and the food keeps getting better and better.
This is hand down my favorite restaurant in the North End. It's my favorite Italian restaurant in the U.S.! It's the most authentic Italian food I've had outside of Italy and now that I'm moved away from Boston it's the one restaurant I have to hit when I'm in town. In a sea of pretty good restaurants in the North End this one should not be missed! Highly recommend the tortellini <3
My experience at Trattoria Il Panino was fantastic -- after we were seated. However, even though we made a reservation at 7 PM, we were not seated until 7:30. Meanwhile, parties that arrived after us without a reservation were seated before us (yes, you read that correctly). The manager kept insisting our table was being cleaned for the entire thirty minutes, to which we eventually responded, "Wow, it must be so clean we won't even need plates!" I understand that rushes can come unexpectedly, but those with reservations should always be seated first. I felt bad for the hostess, who clearly knew we were not being treated as we should have been, but was powerless to the manager. However, I will say that once we sat, our meals were very good. I hope this was just an unanticipated rush at the restaurant, as it was a Wednesday and quite busy, and not an every day thing. The food is too good for the service to be mediocre!
The front hostess desk in the new space was sheer chaos, with no coordination between hostess stations or waitstaff or the ability to provide any clarity on seating requests or time of seating, despite having made a reservation a week plus in advance on OpenTable. The male host was also arrogant and rude. This ruined an otherwise reasonably good experience, as of the six of us, four found the food to be quite good,
This place is a favorite of mine! Until I ordered 1 meatball and was charged $6 😳
We were visiting Boston & were so glad we found this restaurant - great atmosphere, amazing authentic Italian food & excellent service. We were treated like "family" from the minute we walked in the door. Would definitely recommend to others!
Have visited this restaurant before. Same great food and attentive service. Everything is fresh and the food is consistent (from 2 years ago). I would recommend this place if visiting Boston and want a great Italian dinner!
Went for restaurant week and it was such a great deal. Walked away every filled with delicious food for a steal!
Food was excellent. Dining room is enclosed patio. Has overhead heaters, but, much too cold for winter dining.
We got stuck in Boston traffic but called to say we were going to be late. They seemed appreciative of this and held our table for 4 enear the windows for us. We ate off the restaurant week menu; food was good and served quickly. Prosciutto appetizer was a favorite and all entries were delicious!
Great service, great food! Our waiter, Mike, was very attentive even with the 20 top he had next to us.
This is one of my favorite restaurant in Boston. They have amazing food and a really great service. I recommend the paccheri al ragu, which for me is the most exquisite meal in Boston. I strongly recommend this restaurant to any person looking for the best Italian food.
Food was outstanding. Service was friendly and personal.
We enjoy this restaurant and decided to make a reservation for four on Friday March 23 at 6:30pm. We were seated and looked for the restaurant week menu. We were told the restaurant was. Or going to honor the menu for this Friday evening. The waiter didn’t have an explanation so we asked the manager who told us no restaurant week menu was being offered and that was that. We had a confirmation and reviewed the web site and never saw any caveat that Friday would be a problem.
All os we’re disappointed. That’s the reason we travelled to the North End. The restaurant was so noisy we could speak with one another. All I all, not a good night. We won’t be doing that again.
The food was amazing. My husband and I go to the north end often and we felt that this was more authentic than most of the places we’ve been to.
When we arrived, we were immediately seated in a "heated" outside patio. We weren't asked if we had a reservation.
It was intermittently hot & cold.
When I used the rest room, in which I had to walk outside to get there , I discovered another section of the restaurant, which appeared normal. This was never offered to us. Pretty much a disappointment, & seated in the 2nd class section. Food was reasonably good, but the seating pretty much spoiled the experience. May be a good experience in the summer.
I went here for the restaurant week menu and there was a bit of confusion in the beginning (it was the first day of restaurant week, haha), but once we got the menu, it was smooth sailing. The food was phenomenal and our server was so funny and attentive. It was cozy and there were a lot of conversations going on which made the interior a warm hug against the cold outside. Everything was light yet filling and the serving sizes are generous. The dessert set on the menu was tiramisu and I don't typically like tiramisu until noww! It was the perfect balance of the coffee flavor with cream and a hint of rum -- delicious. This is definitely a dinner to remember and would come back for their normal menu offerings as well. My boyfriend kept seeing other people's dishes and wondering what they were so there is a lot more to explore here!
