Trattoria iL Gusto Wine Bar
Consistently good food. Generous portions, at fair prices. Very good service. Energetic volume, but quieted down once the 7pm Saturday crowd departed. Good place to dine with friends.
This lovely restaurant saved our evening; we thought we had a reservation somewhere else and needed a last minute Italian dinner before going to a Broadway show. Staff was wonderful friendly and accommodating, and all of the food was absolutely delicious we were a big group ranging in age from 15 to 55 and everyone was thrilled!!
The salad was good, but the pasta dish was ordinary. For the price, it should be very good.
Good drinks, pleasant service, beautiful weather to eat outdoors. All made for a really nice evening with friends.
The best Italian on the upper West side
Table spacing excellent: not a crowded feel
Great food. Great staff
We had a great time here. Table of six, so extra patience from waiter was very appreciated. Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant! Enjoy!
I had a scruptious pasta with red sauce with veal. My husband had a pasta with a butter sauce and sausage and brocolli rabe that he thoroughly enjoyed. The house chardonnay was especially good, and when hubby ordered rye, the bar poured him a generous amount. Some restaurants don't even have rye. We intended to eat outside, but when we walked inside, the restaurant was so lovely that we decided to eat indoors. Great location on Columbus Avenue. Good prices.
Love coming here
Lunch was delicious. The food was fresh....enjoyed ourselves very much. Service was great.
We dined early on a weekend evening so don't know how if the quiet is typical or just a function of the restaurant being only 1/3rd full but at least the music was thankfully set at low. Food was excellent and the pasta was served hot and stayed very warm for a long time which is rare. Service was polite, efficient and appreciated. Portion sizes on the pasta were generous. Prices were middle of the road.
The only complaint I'd make is the dessert menu. "cheesecake on a sponge base"??!! Who wants spongecake with their cheesecake? Chocolate mousse also had sponge. What's with the sponge? Ended up not ordering dessert as everything was $9.00 and nothing really appealed.
Good food. Noisy inside but not outside. Nice service. I’d like to see a bit more variety in the menu.
Nice dinner. Nice atmosphere. Our primary waiter was great. Breaking in a new assistant. May have been first shift. Kind young man nevertheless. I’m sure he’ll get better. Only had small impact as we were not in a hurry.
Very good service; waitstaff very attentive and friendly; thoroughly enjoyed my veal dish as did my wife enjoyed the tortellini
This is one of our favorite UWS restaurants. The food is consistently delicious, the service top-notch, and the staff and kitchen go above and beyond to bow to guest's dietary issues. This is a warm, friendly, and inviting restaurant....so, GO! You won't be disappointed!!!
Great local find! Food was fresh and delicious. We will be back for sure.
Very nice atmosphere, food and service were very good. Staff attentive
This is our favorite Italian neighborhood go to and we're even a bit out of the neighborhood but worth the trip. The staff, the food and the atmosphere is wonderful.
Polite staff good food excellent experience. Will be back. Liked that you could reserve outdoor table
Great staff, family friendly, nice outdoor space
Good food, cozy atmosphere and they have outdoor seating available.
Pleasant, quiet ordered lamb chops and have to say it was pretty good.
Good and consistent food and service
Hidden gem on the upper west side! Food was delicious and staff was very attentive
We love Trattoria. We love the ambience.
The servers are great as well as service and food and beverages! We have taken several guests over the years.
This is one of my favorite places in the city. In nice weather (such as I enjoyed today), eating outside is heavenly. Everything was exactly what I expected!
I’ve been to this restaurant many times in the past before renovations & new owners, always a nice neighborhood restaurant.
Visiting the restaurant under new name & owners, I was impressed by the new decor & the food but the service was terrible. Our waiter took off, not to be seen after serving our first course, my husband wanted another coke & gave up, my second glass of wine took awhile to arrive, after I asked another waiter & at the end of my dinner. They took so long to bring us the bill that we walked over to cashier & then our waiter appeared, I used rewards to pay a portion of the bill & that took them another 15 minutes to figure it out & they seemed annoyed. I will give them another chance but was very disappointed.
Love it! Great food and lovely people!! A joy for any meal!!
We have been going to the "spot" for years. It was our neighborhood go to when it was Pesce Pasta. Since we moved, it has been given a face lift and is now under a new name but with the same (or even better) excellent food. The service was outstanding, and the food was even better. There is room in between the tables so you can have pleasant conversations with your table and not with the ones next to you. The wine list was very good and very reasonably priced. Salads, and soups were homemade and so fresh. Main courses were also outstanding and hot just off or out of the stove/oven. The prices are also very reasonable.
I highly recommend this restaurant if on the UWS or suggest making it a destination if not.
My family and I had a wonderful dinner here! We each loved our dish and the wine was great. Pretty authentic Italian fare, and I think I found my new neighborhood favorite!
The cuisine seemed to take a step back. Blah tasting. Presentation not so good. Food just sort of slopped on.
Reserved for 9 in this lovely neighborhood gem. They were incredibly accommodating with owner Gus clearly directing with high expectation from his people. Attention to details was impressive. The service was discreet and thorough. As to the food, it is world class. It is as good as some of the 3 stars Michelin fancy restaurants I’ve been to. For a neighborhood restaurant it is an absolute gem!!!
This restaurant used to be called Trattoria Pasta & Pesce. It was consistently awful. The owners and chef have changed and they've spruced the place up. I've given this new Trattoria a try several times in the last couple of months and we haven't had a bad experience yet. In fact, the food is excellent, the staff is polite and helpful, even when you have boisterous children with you. It's my favorite to local go-to place. Especially not that the weather is warming up and they have such lovely outdoor seating.
Relaxed and quiet - a perfect dining experience at Trattoria iL Gusto Wine Bar! My husband raved about the Bronzino (Mediterranean sea bass) while I thoroughly enjoyed the Bolognese with a meatball - the sauce was perfectly seasoned and light, the meatball was spot on and cooked to perfection, and the pasta had a delicious, buttery flavor. Needless to say our wine selections were wonderful - Sancerre and Barbera D'alba, Marchesei Di Barolo. Our excellent waiter (from Croatia - I wish I could remember his name) was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. We met owner Gus who checked in on us to make sure everything was perfect. We will be back!
The food is consistently delicious. I had the chicken solare which was wonderful. I’ve had the pasta bolognese, seafood pasta, salmon. Every dish has been great.
They serve a delicious tomato purée with the bread and at the end of the meal they offer a complimentary glass of port or limoncello.
The service is super friendly and attentive and the restaurant is charming.
It’s a great neighborhood place.
One of the best Italian spots on the Upper West Side wasteland of restaurants. The staff is professional and always welcoming.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere!
It was thoughtful and smart for the owner to come to our table and enquire about our satisfaction!
Always the best
