Trattoria I Trulli
Trattoria i Trulli in Encinitas, CA is proud to offer high quality, wholesome food to people in the area. The eatery also has a range of wines from which you can choose on the menu. Some of the great antipasti on the menu include the bruschetta, filet mignon, fried eggplant, calamari, smoke salmon, fried eggplant, fresh fruit and more.

Lovely little Italian restaurant in the off season, crazy in the tourist season. Best "coteletta alla milanese" in San Diego county.
Great food friendly staff, and great, very fast service even though it was a busy evening.
Very good Italian food. A bit noisy when a full house but good none the less.
A regular spot for us - never disappoints. Food, staff, ambiance , and location are awesome!
We love this neighborhood restaurant and can always count on them to deliver delicious and fresh food at reasonable prices!
Best Italian food in San Diego
You won’t find better Italian food anywhere. Everything is fantastic, staff, wine, specials, pastas, seafood, deserts. I’ve been here over 100 times, each time I get something different and each time I’m amazed.
The best Italian food and service. Always amazing food and impeccable staff
Staff eating food in front of customers and counting paper money in open view of customers was unappreciated and unprofessional.
This place is the real thing! I am an Encinitas resident and this is my go-to "boutique"-size and "special occasion"-grade Italian restaurant. Service is consistently good, food is extremely flavorful and carefully prepared with high quality ingredients. Located near Hanson's Surf Shop and world famous Swami's and their publicly-accessible meditation gardens in downtown Encinitas. The only challenge is it is very small inside and will be quite cozy--thus reservations are a must on any weekend evening. They have a mini wine bar if you arrive early. And, if you bring your well-behaved 4-legged friend and can do without wine, they have a few tables along the sidewalk too.
Always a great experience! Friendly staff, delicious food & yummy wine. One of our fav spots.
The food is outstanding.
Love this restaurant. We are regulars because the staff is so wonderful and food delicious!
Always a great experience. Staff is super friendly and always willing to make recommendations.
The salad was large and tasty. All the food was good, the ciopino was very good. The fish had a fishy Oder but was ok.
We were very welcomed and the staff made us feel at home.
Good quality food, super service with appropriate pricing. Plates not warmed and tournedos came out a bit cold. Recommended wine on special for day - just average for price per glass. But Halibut dish and veal were perfect.
We are in the area a few times a year and try to make a point to always come here. We always love this place. The food and service are always great. The place is small but it is never too noisy. Great selection on the menu and we are always happy with everything we order.
ALWAYS a pleasure to dine there. Never disappoints.
This restaurant is small and loud. Tables are very close together. Though we had a reservation, they did not have a table ready for us. There really isn’t anywhere to stand to wait (“bar area” is a tiny bar counter with about 4 chairs), so it felt a bit claustrophobic. It was a full restaurant, therefore it was noisy and we had a hard time hearing each other. Our food was good, though they served warm bread and a cold marinara sauce, which we found a little odd. The staff was friendly and food was served timely, but for us, the atmosphere was lacking as we felt very crowded in at our small table and couldn’t enjoy leisurely conversation due to the noise level.
When you go and you definitely should go, have the COTOLETTA ALLA MILANESE.
The food was superb and the service friendly and expert.
I found that the food used to be a bit better. The items we had today we're smothered with diced tomatoes. Perhaps there was a sale...
Only complaint on the night was that hostess FORGOT MY OPENTABLE RESERVATION. maybe because I was dining alone - but I DID reserve the bar space. When I got there at 6:55pm for my 7:00pm, she sat a couple/two where my spot "shoulda been". The waiter, Bryan, made up for that bad start, the meal was excellent as always (I should know, been coming here for 18 years). SO . . . still seating about my reservation, but will go back. JG
We were excited when we got there. The place was packed.
Awesome meal as always! Our favorite Italian food
Great food, amazing service. I will be back!
I would recommend this restaurant only if my friend(s) were not adverse to a very loud environment.
Love this restaurant. It is our favorite place to go for Italian. Great food, great service.
Really great food and fun atmosphere! This was our first time at Trattoria I Trulli. We were a group of 8 and ordered the gamut...from the Ossobuco to the Branzino special and it was all delicious. The restaurant is reminiscent of a mom and pop small italian restaurant you would come across somewhere in Rome, noisy, a bit warm and a bit crammed but happy. The staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. All in all a great meal with friends.
I’ve been there three times over the past few years. Very good food and timely service. When busy there is plenty of conversation going on but no blaring music so it is easy to talk.
Love this place!
Food was good. We inquired about items that weren’t on the menu and server told us - no problem. They were very accommodating and adaptions were tasty. Prices were reasonable
Restaurant was crowded and tables were close together so noise level was high. Time from order to receipt of food was a little long.
The food was terrific. The only problem is that we had to wait 45 minutes to get it. We have eaten there several times and have never had such a poor experience. We were right on top of tables on either side, so definitely not the place for private conversation. Not sure if we will return, but, as I said, food was really good.
Great food and service. Real Italian food. Try the oddity buco.
Excellent service, great wine selection. The food needs more flavor in my opinion, but the ingredients feel fresh.
I had been to this restaurant many years ago and had fond memories of my food and experience. My recent visit was even better than I remembered. I had the cioppino and it was amazing. A very generous serving with lots of seafood. The flavor was delicious and I highly recommend ordering it. My dining companion had a chicken dish which was also very good. Great food and great value!
Fantastico as usual. Consistent quality. Capacity is tight, ability to have a 4top conversation is very difficult. BUT, could not ask for better Italian!
Food was better than ever...great evening with friends. Encinitas is a great area, parking a little challenging.
My favorite dining experience during the two years I have lived in San Diego. Excellent selections, tasty and healthy options, terrific service. Will be back!
It was incredibly hot inside:(
