Trattoria Demi has been a local favorite for over two decades. Eating here is like going to a small Trattoria in Sicily. Order the Italian classic Linguine Marinara with Meatballs, and you will find this to be true. The sauce is home made daily and the meatballs have a loyal following! Every dish is made fresh to order so special dietary requests are easily accommodated. Gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available.
At Trattoria Demi, patrons will always find an extensive wine collection to complement their dinner choices. Whether it is for a quick bite for lunch or a family gathering in the evening, this is the place to go for tasty Italian food.
We loved this place! Great food, friendly service.
One of many wonderful meals at this restaurant. The food , service and ambience are always A Plus! We will be back
Came here for my birthday and it was wonderful! Food and service were outstanding. Can’t wait to come and eat here again!
convenient place for after a movie--street parking--pasta gravy was fresh--good service--well paced--i'll be back
Consistently very good. Love the pasta dishes especially.
Service is efficient and friendly.
Really enjoy eating at Trattoria Demi.
Went back a 2nd time is was so good !!!!
Absolutely delicious !!! It was so good we made plans to go back next week !!
Well balanced menu. Really tasty. We got pasta dishes but the ladies at Ergo Salon next door say they often order the pizzas which they love. I took their advice and booked a reservation which is recommended because it fills up quickly. Will definitely go again.
One of the best restaurants I've eaten at recently. It's obvious they care about everything -- the food, the service, the prices. All food was excellent, service excellent, prices excellent. The menu was very broad with lots of vegetarian options. Would be helpful if they could somehow cut down on ambient noise, because while less loud than most restaurants, it still required raised voices to talk across the table. We're going back with other friends in a few weeks.
I read it was a small restaurant so expected that, I guess I expected tablecloths so the bare tables
were a turnoff. The service was fine, it got busier as evening went on, noise level low. The appetizer was delicious and so was each of our dinners. We felt it was a hidden gem. Wish I lived closer so I could return often. They seemed to do a busy take-out business too.
We were visiting the area for a Soccer ID Camp at Loyola. Found this little gem in Evanston. Great place, cozy, busy, and food was great! If we ever come back, we will go back there.
Nice local and quiet place to meet friends for dinner!
This restaurant is just OK. Nothing special. Wine list is very limited. Food was good but nothing impressive. I am sure there are better restaurants in Evanston.
Delicious. I frequent this adorable Italian place and every time is a great experience
Food always good at reasonable price
It was a cute place. Good food. A little hard to find. Our nav gave some strange directions.
The owners were active and involved in the serving.
Everything about the restaurant was average. The shrimp in my pasta was very tiny and there were not very many of them. The dish was not inexpensive. They had no airconditioning on a pretty hot night.
Not the best of experiences. My pasta sauce ( angel hair with artichokes) was still boiling when the server placed it in front of me. The server vanished and I had to wait a good 10 minutes before I could eat it.
The bathroom had no soap in it- again there was no one to remedy the situation...ugh.
Unfortunately we have crossed this neighborhood restaurant off of our list. Too bad
Tasty food. Graciously and promptly served. Sandwiches are an especially good value. Meatball Sammie was delish.
An enjoyable evening with delicious food and attentive service. We sat at one of the few sidewalk tables on a warm summer evening which was preferable to the conversation-challenged indoor space. We have lunched at Trattoria Demi several times but this was our first dinner there. We will definitely return to this neighborhood gem which offers good value for their well prepared, Italian influenced fare. The limoncello creme brulee with berries for dessert is not to be missed.
Food great! We didn't get any bread though. And the bathrooms...
Great food , friendly staff. I will definitely return
Trattoria Demi never disappoints. The pasta special was delicious, the salads fresh, and the service was professional and warm.
Went with friends - the salads are large and delicious, and the tagliatelle with mushrooms, and the steak were wonderful.
Trattoria Demi is a very unassuming simple restaurant with excellent food. We loved the grilled octopus /cannelloni and arugula small plate - the octopus was so tender and flavorful. And then the Cioppino! Truly the very best I have ever had! The dish included a generous selection of seafood and a thick rich broth. I can’t wait to return and order it again.
This was our first time to this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service prompt even though it was packed and the reasonable bottle of wine was also spectacular. We are planning on returning soon. It is a bit noisy when full and the tables pretty close to each other, but the quality of the food and the value for the meal was worth it.
3 adults went for an early Saturday lunch. Reservation were not necessary. All food selections were delicious and nicely presented. Will definitely return.
Farfalle with salmon was outstanding & large enough for me to take home half for a second dinner. My husband & son each had their own pizzas, which they report were very good. Crust is not super thin but crispy, not a preferred crust for my husband. Service was top notch.
We had a lovely dining experience, staff hopeful & cheerful, entrees tastily delicious, enjoyed the ambience of a smaller restaurant .
The food was excellent. The waitress was borderline rude, but the gentleman who filled our water and cleared our plates was very nice. House red was low quality. Because there were empty tables, it wasn’t loud but I’m sure if the restaurant had been full it would have been loud.
This is my new-found favorite in Evanston. The veal scallopini, chicken parmesan, and spaghetti and meatballs were delicious--amazing renditions of classics. The children's menu offers a variety of tempting options. Service was efficient. I will return soon to try one of the fish options.
Nice cozy and welcoming! Had a great experience here. Food and service were wonderful! Good value too!
Best Italian food I have had in a long long time. Everything in the menu is worth trying!
They did not have our table set or even knew about the reservation when we walked in. Kind of a unique or odd entry. You actually enter directly into the dining room where we were not greeted by anyone. The decor just feels old and the food was just average.
We were disappointed with our meals! The appetizers were uninspired, and the meats were overcooked. Perhaps they were having an off night, but this fell far short of expectations.
The service was a little slow But the food made up for it the Cioppino was the best I’ve ever had.
A wonderful restaurant! Great food, lovely environment, and wonderful service!
high quality food and impeccable service, there was great attention to detail and food was fresh and wll prepared
As always, creative offerings and yum!
Normally I have had a good experience here but his time the owner ignored us for a long time as she sat with other guests talking. I convinced my family to go there after seeing La Boehme touting the restaurant and then was embarrassed at the poor service.
