Designed after a Tuscan artist’s studio, the rooms include half-finished paintings, oversized sculptures of fragmented body parts, a gallery of Italian noses, a wine cellar dining room, and candle-filled private rooms.

We attended the Downton Abbey exhibit, this was a perfect spot as it is around the corner. Lunch special is a good deal, my friends were more than satisfied with the branzino and burrata ravioli. I ordered the fennel sausage and roaster pepper pizza, it came out cold but was huge. I've had better pizza, The shock came when we ordered dessert and received the bill. The dessert tray was brought to us with no mention of prices. $11/single canoli that was not that large and $16 for a Tartufo. RIDICULOUS costs even for NYC!
The food was average. Bread with some plain olive oil on the side was boring. Dinner was fine but nothing spectacular. Spaghetti with White Clam Sauce and the clams were small and only two in shell. Sauce was a little bland. Even some fresh chopped parsley would help. Lasagna that was very heavy although the sauce had good flavor. No garnishes to make the plates look good and you do eat with your eyes first. The best part was the old school energy of the place....busy, bustling fun italian and chatty staff. It just would have been better if the food matched that. The coat check person, hosts and waiters all had great energy.
We dine here frequently, but last night was so bad, I cannot imagine returning anytime soon or ever for that matter. Warning, NEVER sit upstairs. Wait for a table on the main floor. You are forgotten on the 2nd floor and not only the servers their b group, but they have a long hike to the Kitchen. Waited for bread for 20 minutes, no knives when the food came. By the time the knives came, the Food had become room temperature. This is not an inexpensive restaurant and it is unacceptable to have such poor service. I am aware there are a lot of favorable reviews, but, what an awful night. If you are 6’ or over, if you sit upstairs, it is like a dollhouse and not a good one. Sorry, but we took the time to write because it was that bad.
Food was excellent although we would have appreciated being advised that the size of the portions was beyond generous. Service was very friendly but not first tier. The waitress offered a muffin and then started to place it directly on the table; had to stop her and ask for a plate for it. Tea cooled before we could get the requested cream. Prior experiences have been much better.
The moment my wife and I walked in we were greeted by a friendly waiter who gave us a glass of Proseco! We sat in a very nice and cozy area of the restaurant. The appetizers were delicious as was the entree. For desert we ordered the Trimasu and chocolate mouse, both were made in the restaurant and were out of this world. The wines that we ordered were very nice and good paring with our food. The entire staff was very friendly and professional. We would certainly recommend this restaurant .
Repeat customer. My best friend and I met up in NYC and as far as we were concerned this was the only place to have lunch. Delicious food, awesome service, friendly staff, clean. Server was personable and took the time to have a short conversation with us. Little things like this make a huge difference. No one makes better cannoli!

Referred by family who always has a go to. Table ready on time even though we were early. Maitre'd & Hostess courteous and professional. Wait staff on point. Food was awesome. A little noisy/busier feel for my taste BUT I knew that going in and it was as advertised. Would definitely return.
Loved this establishment! Greeted by the maitre d with a BUONASERA and an offer of coat check. Packed house but never felt neglected. Joey D aka young Tony DeVito was our waiter and he was the best. Ordered the Pesto Ravioli and it was delicious. Joey highly recommended the canoli ("best in the city") and it did not disappoint. Only complaint is that the tables are a bit too close together but other than that I would highly recommend
Excellent Italian food, rapid attentive service but the crowd was really the overwhelming component, and while service handled it well despite SRO numbers, it detracted somewhat from overall pleasure of the experience. So, less than perfect but still very good and I'd go back - just not during the Holidays.
I booked this restaurant as our anniversary dinner 3 Days before we came to New York with high expectations. Much like many of the reviews I had read in advance, the restaurant was crowded and the service suffered because of a shortage of staff.
Though we had reservations, we were seated next to a dirty dish collection station. We asked to be reseated, and were seated against a wall next to a busy corridor with waitstaff constantly passing by. No tablecloth, no candles, nothing decorative, nothing special about the ambience.
We were not served complimentary bread while many tables around us were. This has been a well documented shortcoming of the restaurant. Consistently inconsistent I suppose. Our waiter was extremely preoccupied with all of his tables, and we had to wait long periods between sightings.
While the appetizers were nice, the Works pizza and the pepperoni chicken parmigiana were mediocre at best. Big servings though. The dessert was good, though I had asked for something special to celebrate our wedding anniversary when I made the reservation, this request was completely ignored or forgotten.
Bottom line: this is probably a decent restaurant for a large party, when you intend to make more noise than the ambient volume, which is pretty loud. But it’s not an intimate environment for a special occasion for a couple.
Busy Wednesday night pretheatre. Had reservation and placed by front window cold and tight spacing. Found the food to be disappointing and overpriced. For example a thirty dollar plate of pasta with white clam sauce had two clam shells and one clam, was over cooked and was
over spiced. The staff was agreeable. While the location worked on a very cold night providing
proximity to Carnegie Hall I would be hard pressed to recommend. This might work for
folks from out of town who have limited dining options but does not distinguish itself
among comparable dining establishments. Wish we could have reported a better experience.
