Nothing spectacular here. Mediocre food and the paper table clothes really detract from the overall experience. When we spend over $100 for dinner (plus wine) we expect a little more effort. The salad was really bad. It tasted like it had been soaked in mayo. Our server was curt and actually asked for a better tip (we did tip what we believed was fair - over 15%.) We won't be back, ever.

Food's usually good, but the NOISE, downstairs especially, is a spoiler. So is the abrupt and perturbed attitude of the "Maitre d'"
We had a good server, upstairs, but Maitre d' denied us the table we preferred and requested because "it was reserved". (We had a reservation, I hasten to add.) That deuce remained open for the entire 90 minutes we sat there, uncomfortable, at another table very close to the stairs, dealing with the draft, updrafting noise, and general sense of lack of stability in that spot.
I go to Carnegie Hall concerts probably 10-12 times a year, but isn't likely any longer to be my restaurant of choice....

One of our favorite places in New York. We enjoyed several items from the extensive antipasto menu. Both of our fish dishes (branzino and red snapper) were superbly prepared, nicely seasoned, and elegantly presented.

Lemon pie with Crème brûlée topping was an excellent end to a superb meal.

The restaurant was crowded, and the staff forgot one of our items. They more than made up for the confusion with complimentary items.

Consistently delicious with a warm & friendly atmosphere despite the volume of people to serve at once. Our favorite pre-theatre pick when going to Carnegie Hall or City Center.

Food was ok. The lasagna was too soft, not al dente. The branzino was very good. Place was very noisy and crowded on a Friday night.

This restaurant has and continues to exceed our expectations. Over the top service. The food is fresh and creative. The pizza is the best I've ever had! The service is personalized & attentive. With so many Italian restaurants to choose from in the city, this one stays at the top of our go-to list.

Food was served all at once, cold, dropped on the floor without apology, we had to ask to replace it, and the bill included wine we didn't order. I do not recommend this restaurant. Maitre D' did not seem to care

Surprisingly excellent food
The Lobster pasta was perfect - not too much cheese or bacon and the artichokes were crispy and delicious.

We have been going here for years when we visit New York. This time was pretty bad as they were overwhelmed and began to seat people in the basement. I had a 7:30 reservation and I had to fight my way to the podium to let them know I was there. The line was next to tables and I can"t imagine seating at one of these where people are hovering all night next to the table. The host greeted me and said "I have a perfect table next to our fireplace". Right! Next to the kitchen door where if I stood up I could get a glimpse of the fireplace. Prices have soared since our last visit in June of this year as well. With that visit that will mark the last time we go to this herding machine.

Trattoria del Arte, is a no level restaurant. Noise level loud due to pre theater crowd. Suggest dining 7:30 Or later. Pizza was light as a feather and delicious, we had it as an appetizer. The risotto was creamy, tasty. Our friends had chicken, veal, liver dishes, all well prepared, delicious.

We chose this restaurant based on good reviews and it’s proximity to Carnegie Hall where we were attending a concert.
The food was ok, two orders of the veal picata got mixed reviews. One of our party said hers was chewy the other said his was good. I had the short ribs with polenta. The polenta was smothered in gravy and tasted like it had freezer burn. The ribs were just ok. The “star” of the dinner was the lasagna bolognaise. Lots of meat and flavorful but the noodles were over cooked. It’s also big enough for two to share. All sides are a la carte. The prices are too high given the quality of the food.
The restaurant is very busy, noisy and the service was perfunctory.
They do have a good selection of Italian red wines. We had a bottle of the Brunello which was very nice and reasonably priced.

My group of 6 was stuck in traffic coming in to the city and we were going to be about 30 minutes late for our 6:15 dinner reservation. The hostess couldn't have been any nicer over the phone when we told her we would be late and once we arrived they seated us right away so we could eat and get to our 8:00 show at Carnegie Hall. The restaurant was absolutely filled when we arrived but they never gave away our table and took excellent care of us. Did I mention that the food was also great! I will definitely be back.

I asked for a quiet table on Open Table and we were seated in a perfect little alcove. Our server was attentive and helpful. We did not want to rush even though we had concert tickets. It was well timed. The bread was crusty and chewy, very delicious. We selected the buratta and 3 apps.
All of them were vegetables were seasoned nicely and not overcooked. We enjoyed the paper thin crust and sauce which was very flavorful. Cappucinno and cannolis completed a wonderful dinner.

The spaghetti with clams was superb. My husband commented that he was over-fed with the huge lasagna. We adored the artichokes. But what I like most about the Trattoria del Arte is the vivacity of the environment. One feels happy here.

A madhouse of a place good only because it's across the street from Carnegie Hall and close to City Center. Brash waiter service, no appologies when they bump into your chair repeatedly because of too close spacing. Unremarkable food at ridiculous overpricing. Left with a headache. Manhattan streets seemed quiet in comparison!

We were first shown a table for two in a hallway which I rejected. They then brought us upstairs and we sat beneath a window that they use to call or signal each other. There was so much traffic going by our table that it was unpleasant. It was also VERY busy. Yes it was before a concert but that's not unusual for the location. The food was good. Large portions.

A friend and I enjoyed dinner before a concert at Carnegie Hall, across the street. Service was enthusiastic, friendly and accommodating to our schedule. Portions were ample. The three antipasti we ordered, as well as the thin-crust pizza, were wonderful, as was my friend's "101-layer" lasagna and my veal piccata. For reasons of both time and over-ordering, we passed on dessert, but will return and leave room at that time! Noise level is very high, even in the more intimately scaled low-ceilinged front upstairs space, and our table was crammed into a small space next to the top of the stairs, but we managed.
