The menu focuses on northern Italian specialties such as the steak Florentine, double veal chop, seafood specialties of the Mediterranean, and unforgettable desserts.

The menu has plenty of options and the food was phenomenal. The atmosphere was great. Unfortunately we had three business men sitting at the table next to us playing the 'one up' game the whole time they were there, but once they left it was much quieter and more enjoyable.
If you want truly quality italian food with a level of service from the staff that you tend to just "not see these days", this is the place. Not just another copycat menu of chicken parm and calamari, but at the same time not so eclectic or pretentious that only refined eaters would enjoy. It's that perfect spot when you're looking for a high-quality high-service establishment for a date/birthday/valentines day/etc, yet dont want to book months in advance or have a menu full of bite sized food youve never heard of before. Forget the famous trendy names like Del Posto or Carbone unless you're truly a refined and discerning diner, and enjoy a comparable level of excellence in food/service, about 30% less cost than the aforementioned restaurants. Great location to take a stroll through central park after to burn off the calories.
One of the best italian meals I’ve had outside Italy. Found it the first time by just walking by. Staff is friendly attentive and well informed. If you don’t see on menu just ask
They sat us upstairs
Fantastic place - one of our favorite in the city. Great food and fun, friendly, professional staff. Perfect for pre-theater.
Never disappoints. Always consistently good food and service
Perfect for before or after theatre/Carnegie Hall/Lincoln Center. The vegetable bar is fabulous. Great truly thin crust pizzas and wonderful pastas.
Had a wonderful meal with friendly attentive service. The four of us all ordered something different, and no one was disappointed. The chocolate mousse cannolis are to die for!!!
Food is consistently good. Service is consistently good.
We were hosting a diplomat prior to attending a concert at Carnegie Hall. The wait staff did a wonderful job of making sure we could be out the door in a timely fashion. Everyone was delighted with his or her menu selection. I appreciated that the portions were just the right size--not massive, nor tiny, but a generous, filling amount. I was comfortably full at the end of the meal. I enjoyed the diver's scallops, and would most certainly order it again. One guest had the lobster risotto and raved about it, another had trout. The guest having trout had asked to have it served headless, but much to his dismay, it came with the head attached. The server, wisked it away and returned it, decapitated. Never-the-less, we all enjoyed our meals and the restaurant. If I could change one thing, it would be the noise level, but I am not sure that there is a way to change that.
Once again Trattoria Dell'Arte does not disappoint. It is a warm friendly home away from home even with its big presence, large menu and high demand.
From being greeted with a kiss at the door by Jeff Baskin to outstanding food and superb service by Anis the experience is always the best.
Don't miss the Veal Milanese and save calories for the vanilla merengue cake.
THANK YOU....Chef, Jeff and Anis!
One of my favorites whenever I’m in NYC and want to eat in the theatre district. I’ve been coming for 30 years; it’s like going home!
I like the food but unfortunately they being changed some of the items on the menu which made the place different from others. Beside it everything continues being good good for many yrs.
The service was amazing, along with the decor and classy style of the restaurant..
Best Italian food I ever had
I really have to leave a compliment for the staff. The place was a zoo, it was Valentine’s Day. Everyone, from the busboys, to the coat check girl, to the Maitre d’, to the waiter, were friendly and accommodating. They made every extra effort to make it a memorable evening. This is a place worth going to, for the food and the service.
I truly enjoyed my Valentine’s Day dinner it was amazing
Valentines Day at Trattoria used to be something special with special treats brought around to the tables. Chocolates covered strawberries, cookies, etc.. Those days appear to be gone. Too bad. Food is still good and service is still slow. Still worth it but maybe not as much.
Very disappointing meal. We love Italian food and the quality was simply sub par. The “101 layer lasagna” was dry and tasteless.
Best chicken and veal parmesan dishes, can take half of it home and even better the next night, and fried artichokes, excellent!!
The staff is so friendly. When you walk in you feel like family. Food was excellent and the service was great.
Great food choices Good service.
Very nice restaurant. Food was good. Worth going to.
It was wonderful!!!!! Took a while to get anyone’s attention when we walked in but other than that it was great!
Friendly staff, fun atmosphere and amazing food! An excellent place to eat after seeing a performance at the Met. Came based on a recommendation from a friend and so glad we did! Would recommend highly and will definitely go back during a future trip. Thank you!
Missed the red snapper livornese in the clay pot that is why we came very disappointed that it is no longer on the menu. I understand that I am not the only one who misses it- that everyone asks for it.
We were a party of 12. We were celebrating my daughter's debut at Carnegie Hall, so it was a very special evening. They made our evening very special in every way. The food and wine were good, as well as the desert. I loved that restaurant before, but now, I love it even more. They were no kind and attentive. Thank you for making our event so special.
A delightful evening - great food, attentive but not lingering staff. Good prices for NYC! I had a reservation and they took our party of 3 immediately - no waiting!
Excellent service and food. Loved every bite. Request to sit upstairs. Nice ambiance. Overpriced but typical for NYC. Definitely recommend.
Family birthday celebration. We were a party of 13, so they put us in the wine room at a long table, which we didn’t even know was an option, and it was perfect!
We were at a concert at Carnegie Hall, which is just across the street, and looking for some late night dining. This restaurant is very convenient and open late. There's a variety of Italian dishes. What we had was very good and pretty reasonably priced. They have a nice wine selection. This is a somewhat tourist-centric area, so I can imagine it being pretty loud inside at certain times and/or crowded, but that was not the case for us as we arrived about 1030 pm on a cold night. Service was friendly and helpful. Food quality was also good, although we had only a burrata and tomato salad and a pizza with some wine. Good choice if you are in the area late.
From the moment we stepped inside Trattoria Dell’Arte we were treated like family! Manager Yusuf shared the history of the restaurant and pointed out the amazing artwork throughout. Our server Joe was attentive and personable. Joe asked just the right questions to recommend selections from appetizers to desserts. Simply saying the food was superb isn’t enough. The cannolis were the best you’ll find in NYC hands down.
I have been here quite a few time, always a great experience. The tuna steak is a must for at least one person at you table, best tuna steak you will have. Also sharing the antipasto is a great way to start, always a great selection and just enough food to satisfy.
Most likely, owing to its great location across from Carnegie Hall, Trattoria Dell Arte was packed the night we were there with concert goers as well as some large parties. The greeters did an admirable job of seating people in the long line waiting for tables. My husband and I were happily seated in a little nook where we could sit side by side and hear each other, but the line of people in front of our table waiting to be seated and the clusters of wait staff trying to cross that line to get to customers was a bit distracting. That said, the food and wine choices were good, a bit expensive, but once out order was taken, the food arrived quickly. Very good, attentive service. My husband’s seafood mixture was hot and tasty, my vegetable plate arrived in a lukewarm state except for the steaming delicious lemon spinach. We even had time for a very tasty cannoli dessert. Overall, a very good experience.
The ambiance was good and the service staff was friendly, but the food was not as we would have hoped. I ordered spaghetti carbonara with lobster and it was either warmed up or stood under the light for too long as the carbonara cream sauce turned into oil and lobster pieces were dry and even crispy. We also ordered a 3 piece veggie appetizer. I guess they were out of 1 of the veggie appetizer selections so they just replaced it with spinach instead of asking what we would like to replace that item with. I was there with 3 kids and non of them liked the spinach option that was chosen for us. I did not get the value for the money we spent there.
one of the nicest and best restaurants I have been to in NYC. Staff could not have been nicer, food was fantastic- 3 course lunch for an amazing value. Home made cookies handed out at the end of the meal gratis. All in all, a terrific experience.
