The service was impeccable. The bread, which came from Lost Bakery was outstanding,it was served with olive oil and hot chili oil a great combination. The martini was perfection however I didn't love the wine by the glass. The chicken Milanese had a root salad which was unique, my husbands pasta was al dente. The best part of the meal were the desserts made in house. Tiramisu and an upside down apple cake were delish. My husband also had the home made sorbert. Would definitely go back.
Friendly and attention service, very tasty food with good size portions. Downside was we had very bad seating location in between two groups of six. Made for a very loud experience and disappointing considering we had a reservation.
First time dining at this new incarnation of this restaurant location. So happy to have good vegetarian options!
Very rarely does a restaurant excel at all aspects of a dining experience, but Trattoria Carina did it on Thursday night. Service was warm and professional. Food was EXCEPTIONAL. Unique flavors, like the eggplant appetizer, and the gemelli special, were incredible. Ambiance was perfect - it felt like we were in Europe (until a biker almost collided with a car and we got some Philadelphia spice!). Cannot recommend enough - thanks, Katherine & Sam & Dan!
Wonderful meal. Everyone loved their meals. Real treasure.
I had the spicy crab Arrabiatta which was incredible - highly recommend.
Our favorite restaurant!
Went here after eating at their sister restaurant the Diving Horse in Avalon. Got the special which was Hands down the best pasta dish I have ever eaten! My husband had the chicken parm which was also amazing. Will definitely be going back to try more because everything on the menu looked amazing.
Had a wonderful meal. Great food and very friendly service!
Let’s just start off by saying prior to our experience today, we had dinner at Trattoria Carina and loved it. However brunch today was extremely disappointing. We ordered the French toast, meatballs, and pasta with a poached egg. After waiting for approximately 45 minutes our food to arrive, the meatballs were cold and the French toast was burnt to a crisp, making it inedible. To make matters worse, it seemed as thought our waitress knew we were going to be upset because after delivering our food, she never came back to check on us. After taking 15 minutes to get her attention, she was unapologetic and removed our dishes. Although the majority of our meal was comped, the lack of professionalism from the restaurant is unbelievable. It’s a shame, as we really did enjoy our first experience but will probably not be returning.
The Meatballs are the best part
Food was outstanding !
Food was incredible, as always, but the service was exceptionally terrible this time. Very long wait times. The waitress forgot our desert and put it on the table after we were standing up to leave.
Fantastic! Attended as part of Restaurant Week and the service was top-notch.
Came here for restaurant week / to celebrate my best friend’s birthday early. I had been meaning to try this place for so long and decided to take advantage of restaurant week. The restaurant itself is adorable and sits on a nice corner in the Rittenhouse/Fitler Square area, which makes for a nice experience when you sit outside at Trattoria Carina. The fact that it is BYOB and has its own cocktail menu is awesome. Most importantly, however, all of our food was excellent and super delicious. For entrees, I ordered the catch of the day — tuna — which was seared and seasoned to perfection, while my friend ordered the cacio e pepe, which was both decadent and simple in the best way. Service was good also. Overall, we had a great experience and I will definitely be coming back quite often.
Went here for restaurant week for lunch. Food and Service was amazing, we will come back
Everything was amazing!
I LOVED the arugula salad and the egg sandwich. My husband’s Caesar and carbonara were not anything special. We love coming to this spot—since even before it became Carina. It is so quaint—perfect for brunch or a romantic dinner date.
However, we are partial to restaurants where there is a little more space between tables. We could partake in our neighbors’ conversations on either side, and that can be very uncomfortable. We would rather pay more in our check to have less tables crowding this beautiful, little enclave.
Decent meal. Food wasn’t spectacular, but it was good. Service was decent as well; however, they became less attentive and more rushed towards the end of our meal.
SO great! Loved the Cacio e Pepe, and our server was so nice and helpful!
The food was amazing and I loved the decor! Such a cool place to go out to dinner.
We have been there several times in the last few months and as always we are delighted with the food, presentation and wonderful flavors. Our only problem is that we eat too much! Definitely recommend.. Sitting outside on a perfect summer nitfgt only added to our doing leisure as well as the friendly efficient wait staff.
Amazing as always! Might have the best meatballs in all of philly. Everything is so good!
Service was good, restaurant was clean and byob option is great. Definitely was hungry after we left though. Was disappointed in the portions especially with the pricing. My breakfast was so small we joked about it the rest of the day. The coffee was super weak also.
table set up so that you are sitting very close to other people... and also noise level is high.. .so while food is great.. did not like the lack of privacy and intrusion.
Always a great experience here! Great neighborhood spot for catching up with old friends over a good meal! Service was great, food is always delicious. The bright atmosphere is an awesome plus!
Noisy atmosphere without many people. Meatballs served raw. Chopped salad inedible, way too salty. Server never asked how salad was, so I didn’t eat.
I had a wonderful 29th birthday at Carina, the staff and food was amazing as usual.
Was really excited to try this local spot! The food was fantastic and the restaurant was very cute and different. Definitely stop by.
Unfortunately, the service staff did seem overwhelmed. Took almost an hour after placing our order to get our food. After being told our ticket was next up, we saw other food being dropped to other parties. Our server graciously comped some of the items to make up for the delay! Really appreciated that!
Also we did sit at the communal table with a party of two (which the host posed as not-the-best-seat-in-the-house when preparing us to walk over making sure it was ok). We’ve sat at similar situations at other restaurants and enjoyed it! Their play on the communal was a bit tight though. There was a larger party near us that made the communal table a little snug and loud. Would recommend to them to only place smaller parties here. Let the larger parties spread out at a larger table!
Overall pretty good. Will stop by again.
If you're looking for a more contemporary Italian food experience, this is the place to go in Philly. If its nice outside, sit outside! Everyone on the staff was friendly and fun. The pasts is made in house and everything was delicious. If you're in the mood for Italian food but don't want the old stuffy ambiance of more established Italian restaurants in the market, head here! Fresh, lively and did I mention BYOB??
Food and service the best! Wonderful corner spot in Philly, a must try and you will keep going back!
Order the famous meatballs...you won't need dinner!
Chicken parmigiana was over cooked and the cheese was burnt around the edges
A plus consistently great food i love this place
have been here 3x in the last month and it might be my new fave....
Trattoria Carina is a fabulous Italian restaurant. They make their pasta fresh every day, and it is outstanding. I have eaten here many times and it never disappoints.
Bread was great, the apperitives were also nice though we didn’t like the the compote on top of the ricotta very much. We ordered two plates of pasta and they were AMAZING: the amatriciana and the special with basil sauce. Service was great too, and it’s a nice plus that the restaurant is BYO. Overall, great experience!!
It was great food. small inside. You feel rushed with everything coming out. They won’t you let you order just apps and then place your meal order they make you place it all at once. Would like to try it again but sitting outside due to the tight space. It’s also a family style table with multiply party’s next to each other not much arm room
Good food. Good service. Reasonable prices. Liked that you can byob although they have a liquor license.
Favorite neighborhood spot.
Food is always amazing and service is impeccable-always!
Amazing food! Best Italian BYO in the city
