Trattoria Carina is a casual neighborhood Italian restaurant from the same family as Pub & Kitchen, focused on providing delicious food and a welcoming atmosphere at a great value. Located on the corner of 22nd and Spruce, it’s a charming and easygoing 32-seat trattoria, whose name means “Little Darling” in Italian. The menu changes seasonally, but always features a variety of homemade pastas and classic Italian dishes made up of the freshest ingredients. Trattoria Carina has a small bar program, featuring Italian wines by the glass, seasonal beer options, and a selection of cocktails including Negronis and Aperol spritzes. Should guests choose to BYO, there is no corkage fee. Trattoria Carina is open seven days a week for dinner starting at 4:30 PM.

Had a delicious brunch of whipped ricotta cheese on sourdough toast points and a bold pasta dish of tomato, crabmeat and Calabrian chilis. The trattoria was gracious enough to substitute bucatini (a personal fave) for the shells in the pasta dish.

This reservation was arranged through my FoundersCard Elite Concierge, with clear and specific requests submitted in advance: outdoor seating in a quiet area, attentive service, and a strict no-pork dietary restriction. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not reflect those expectations. Upon arrival, the hostess instructed us to seat ourselves at an outdoor table, something I’ve never encountered at a full-service restaurant. There was no escort, no greeting beyond a brief mention that menus would be brought out. For an establishment of this caliber, that lack of hospitality was surprising and disappointing. Once seated, we waited approximately ten minutes before our server arrived. Initially, it was unclear whether the no-pork request had been acknowledged, but I do appreciate that it was ultimately respected in the preparation of our food. The dishes themselves were excellent, and our server was kind. However, it took over 30 minutes after our food was served for anyone to return to check in on us, an inexcusable delay in even the most casual of dining settings, let alone a restaurant of this reputation. In addition, our request for quiet seating was completely disregarded. The area was noisy and did not offer the calm, private atmosphere we were assured of. Overall, I left feeling disappointed. Trattoria Carina has built a name for itself, and while the food met expectations, the service fell well short of what one would reasonably expect, especially for a thoughtfully coordinated reservation.

Great food and atmosphere! A little crowded indoors but they do a great job pacing the dishes to not fill up the entire table. Will definitely be back!

The restaurant has a lovely aesthetic and is in a quaint part of the city. It's a visually appealing restaurant, but don't be fooled by the looks. The food left much to be desired, and the price point didn't match the quality or the taste. However, the service wasn't bad, and the house wine was good, worth the price point, and the highlight of the meal.

Currently our favorite place. The food is incredible!!!it’s very cute inside and out. The only downside is it’s small and the tables are very close together. It can get loud between the music and talking.

The weather for our 5:15 reservation was perfect so we decided to take an outside table . Even though it was rush hour the scene on 22nd street was very pleasant, no honking horns or heavy traffic fumes. Our server,Nora, was very relaxed and welcomed us as first time diners at Trattoria Karina. She explained the Trattorias approach to dining and took our drink orders. All four of us enjoyed our menu choices immensely . We told Nora how pleased we were to have dined at Trattoria on this beautiful May evening.

Food took over an hour to arrive. Drinks were forgotten. Food was good but it’s had to enjoy when you see other people being served while you wait forever
