Trattoria Antica Ratings and Reviews
Celebrated our anniversary at Trattoria while we were visiting the area and was not disappointed. Tommy did an outstanding job with recommendations and treated us like royalty. The restaurant had a wonderful vibe and the food was excellent! Will definitely be returning.
We were celebrating my husband's 75th birthday and our 45th wedding anniversary with our daughter and grandchildren. The service was impeccable, wine was wonderful, children's meals, perfect and adult meals fantastic. For a special meal, this is the place to come!
The food was really good and everyone in our party of 8 enjoyed their meal and the apps. However, the big turn off from the beginning was the service. Our waiter was so rude.....we actually were relieved when he ignored us after taking our orders even though we didn't get refills. If we go back we will make sure to ask for different waiter.
The food was wonderful as were the servers who took our plates and refilled our drinks, etc. Our waiter, although did his job, was rude. In his attempts to be funny, he actually came off very insulting to my mother and my two children. He treated them like they didn't know anything and then got on my daughter for not eating all of her vegetables and then proceeded to tell her how expensive the mozzarella was in her gnocchi and she better make sure she eats all of it. My daughters are 15 & 19 and we are all very well versed in our palates & to be treated like they were 2 years old esp. from a waiter was less than par. When I asked if he would be able to check the ingredients in the Bloody Mary to make sure there wasn't any clam juice in it since I'm highly allergic, he told me that he would check on it when he had time. Not the right answer. We really like your restaurant and have eaten here many times and have never experienced this type of service from a waiter. We do hope to return but really hope this will be shared with him since this type of attitude will really hurt your business. We were not the only ones having this experience either. The table next to us was also having a similar experience as well.
We had a large group of 9 women celebrating a birthday. The food was excellent- our group ordered a variety of food including traditional Italian such as Lasagna, Ravioli, as well as chicken and fish dishes. Everyone raved about the food. My favorite there is Salmone Sciliana - unique presentation which includes black olives and capers. The service was very attentive and helped to make our evening out a real pleasure. This is our favorite restaurant in the Waxhaw area and definitely one of the top Italian restaurants in Charlotte (the other Conte Restaurants such as Mezzanote and Toscana are similar and equally good).
I love Trattoria Antica and continue to go back. The food is delicious. Unfortunately, the service is never good. After they deliver the food, they never check back on drinks and it takes a long time after done eating for them to take plates and check on whether we'd like dessert. It's so frustrating because the food is really good but the service is consistently unattentive.
Have been at this restaurant about a dozen times so far this year and we usually went during the week. This time we went on a weekend and the place was very, very, busy. All the other times the food was pretty good and the service excellent. This time however, the service was slow to say the least, and the food, well the food was just OK. In fact it was worse than OK. Very Disappointing. I has broiled Salmon, and it was like rubber, could not even chew it. I may give it one more try, not sure - but I would not recommend it due to my latest experience. Granted, the waiter die not charge us for my meal, but that is not the point. The point is that we went there to have a nice dinner, not walk away hungry.
We have gone to Trattoria Antica several times and ALWAYS raved about the food, however the service is awful - the place is too loud and tables too close together. This weekend we went for a special occasion and the bartender was also our waiter. He was nice and did the best he could but he was handling too much. You literally sit within two to three feet of other diners. The management of this place needs work.
We spent a wonderful evening visiting with out of town friends. The ambience is perfect for visiting - not too loud. Appetizers are very tasty, food is fresh and delicious, and the service is friendly and helpful. Would not hesitate to recommend this place.
We had been before and it was wonderful. I'm not certain why we had not made it a regular stop but we will now. Just a fabulous meal: Service, wine, food flavor and presentation. They really get it right. It's very obvious someone has a real culinary touch and knows ingredients.
This is our favorite Italian restaurant by far in all of Charlotte...although it it just south of us in waxhaw. Worth traveling to. They have an incredible menu, great ambience and the best waitstaff of any restaurant we've been to. Believe me...you won't be disappointed. I rarely review any restaurants but this one is amazing. And they take reservations and actually honor them.
Food is made to order and very fresh. Dinningroom is small and reservations on week-ends is a must. Wait staff is mature and very experienced. It is a neighborhood place so expect to see lots of locals. This restaurant is a Gem in Waxhaw. Dress is fashionable and the bar area is a place to also enjoy a fabulous Italian meal. The fish is very fresh and made to order. Lots of free parking
Carlos and his entire staff never fail to make us feel special. The food is fantastic, but it is the staff that has made us regulars at Trattoria. Whether it is just my wife and myself, our entire family, or with a group of friends, we always have a warm and memorable experience. This is our favorite restaurant. (and yes, we are both Italian!).
We made a reservation, confirmed it on-line and we were seated immediately upon arrival. Fantastic food! The only issue I had was when our party was finished eating we had to wait a very long time to receive our check. Our waiter was great but the wait staff was sparce and the restaurant wall full.
This was a very small restaurant. The wait staff was very attentive; they had very strong accents which gave you the feeling of being in an authentic Italian bistro. We had a 6pm reservation, we arrived early and was seated immediately. The food was beyond delicious, more than we expected! I would definitely go again!
Late night reservations, arrived about thirty minutes early so we told the female hostess we were early and she tried to put us at the bar. We said we will wait at the bar until our seats were ready. We had a very hard time understanding her because of her very thick Spanish accent, so we had to ask a few times if she understood and finally she did. We waited almost 20 minutes for the bar tender to get us a drink. He finally brought us a beer and a vodka cranberry. I asked if it would be ok to take the bar bill to the table and received a story back, so I just decided to pay at the bar. Meanwhile it was 15 minutes after our reservation time and I looked at the hostess and she said one more minute. So we waited for her and my change back from the bar tender. My wife gets seated and about 5 minutes later the bar tender comes back with all singles for my change, I guess he expected a much better tip than I left.
So back to the table now. My wife orders the monk fish and I order the short ribs, plus a calamari app as well as an antipasto.
Our antipasto comes out which was very good, then the waiter (Spanish) comes back and tells my wife they are out of the monk fish so she orders something else. We waited and waited, I asked about the calamari and I got a smile...I guess he didn't understand English very good.
I guess our waiter didn't want us to have it.
Food comes out and it is good no complaints. We finish and I notice the tale next to us gets 2 free brandy's, I was like that'll be nice. I guess not for us. The waiter didn't even offer desert so I had to ask for the menu.
Long story short, good food, bad service and long wait even with a reservation.
We accidently made reservations here and thought we were making reservations somewhere else. When we got there we were very disappointed in the restaurant week menu (because we pciked from a different one and had our hopes up for it). When all was said and done - we had an awesome meal and the best bread pudding I have ever had. It was the best mistake we have ever made and very thankful we got to try this place. REgular prices seem very fair. We will be going back!!!
We dined at Trattoria Antica with neighbors and once again had a wonderful experience. I mentioned a food allergy when I made the reservations, and the wait staff was aware and ready for us. Two of us ordered the fresh pasta special which had lobster and crabmeat and we were surprised to find a half lobster and additional lobster meat as well as many large shrimp cooked perfectly and served with a fresh sauce over linguini. The other members of our party had different veal choices and report they were wonderful.
I am planning to return during Queen's Feast this year as I understand they will be participating. That should be great.
We have visited the Trattoria many tie as it is one of our favorite restaurants. Again we had a great experience except for on thine. I had the Ravioli special and although the pasta and filing were cooked to perfection, they chef did not drain the pasta enough when they put it in the butter and sage. This resulted in a watered down sauce.
Trattoria Antica is close to home and offers dependably good food that is well prepared. We were seated near the bar and our server, Tommy, who also tended bar, was excellent. He recommended wines and took good care of us. I ordered my favorite Italian salmon entrée and my husband ordered the chicken marsala. Both dishes were very, very good.
