Trattoria Antica in Waxhaw, North Carolina serves a high-end Italian menu. The restaurant is especially well known for its fried calamari starter. There are numerous Italian dishes to choose from at Trattoria Antica, too. You could order the spaghetti and meatballs, penne, fettuccine alfredo or the linguine. Other traditional Italian dishes here are the eggplant parmesan, ravioli, gnocchi, chicken marsala and chicken Tuscan.
There is a full wine menu to order from at Trattoria Antica. The restaurant also has an extensive list of desserts available. Some examples include the cannoli, ricotta cheesecake, torta Charlotte, tortino di cioccolato, panna cotta and the tiramisu.
Trattoria Antica is a little gem in the heart of Waxhaw. The fare is unique, imaginative and delicious. The staff is friendly and on top of the service. We are so lucky to have a great place for special dining in Waxhaw.
Celebrated our anniversary at Trattoria while we were visiting the area and was not disappointed. Tommy did an outstanding job with recommendations and treated us like royalty. The restaurant had a wonderful vibe and the food was excellent! Will definitely be returning.
We were celebrating my husband's 75th birthday and our 45th wedding anniversary with our daughter and grandchildren. The service was impeccable, wine was wonderful, children's meals, perfect and adult meals fantastic. For a special meal, this is the place to come!
We love this place, the food is incredible and our waiter Alberto was awesome! Is got a real nice ambiance, worth a warm smalltown feeling.
Great food, great service. We went for dinner and had a great time. The wine list is good and pretty reasonably prices.
Service was not quite up to par. Our drink refills were not filled in a timely manner. They have plenty of staff, but they aren't attentive to refilling drinks. Food was very good and meal was enjoyable!
Consistently good.......come here often and never disappointed. Have recommended it to several friends and they enjoyed it as well. Grew up in NYC and am usually picky with my Italian food choices........I enjoyed everything I ever ordered here.
The food is outstanding-fresh,great sauces and the service by Antonio and Alberto was superb!!!!
The food was really good and everyone in our party of 8 enjoyed their meal and the apps. However, the big turn off from the beginning was the service. Our waiter was so rude.....we actually were relieved when he ignored us after taking our orders even though we didn't get refills. If we go back we will make sure to ask for different waiter.
The food was wonderful as were the servers who took our plates and refilled our drinks, etc. Our waiter, although did his job, was rude. In his attempts to be funny, he actually came off very insulting to my mother and my two children. He treated them like they didn't know anything and then got on my daughter for not eating all of her vegetables and then proceeded to tell her how expensive the mozzarella was in her gnocchi and she better make sure she eats all of it. My daughters are 15 & 19 and we are all very well versed in our palates & to be treated like they were 2 years old esp. from a waiter was less than par. When I asked if he would be able to check the ingredients in the Bloody Mary to make sure there wasn't any clam juice in it since I'm highly allergic, he told me that he would check on it when he had time. Not the right answer. We really like your restaurant and have eaten here many times and have never experienced this type of service from a waiter. We do hope to return but really hope this will be shared with him since this type of attitude will really hurt your business. We were not the only ones having this experience either. The table next to us was also having a similar experience as well.
Enjoyed another great meal at Trattoria Antica. Both our meals were very good. We enjoyed a shared Caprese salad prior to the shrimp pasta and the spaghetti and meatballs entrees, and couple of glasses of wine. Service was attentive and top notch.
We had a large group of 9 women celebrating a birthday. The food was excellent- our group ordered a variety of food including traditional Italian such as Lasagna, Ravioli, as well as chicken and fish dishes. Everyone raved about the food. My favorite there is Salmone Sciliana - unique presentation which includes black olives and capers. The service was very attentive and helped to make our evening out a real pleasure. This is our favorite restaurant in the Waxhaw area and definitely one of the top Italian restaurants in Charlotte (the other Conte Restaurants such as Mezzanote and Toscana are similar and equally good).
I love Trattoria Antica and continue to go back. The food is delicious. Unfortunately, the service is never good. After they deliver the food, they never check back on drinks and it takes a long time after done eating for them to take plates and check on whether we'd like dessert. It's so frustrating because the food is really good but the service is consistently unattentive.
Have been at this restaurant about a dozen times so far this year and we usually went during the week. This time we went on a weekend and the place was very, very, busy. All the other times the food was pretty good and the service excellent. This time however, the service was slow to say the least, and the food, well the food was just OK. In fact it was worse than OK. Very Disappointing. I has broiled Salmon, and it was like rubber, could not even chew it. I may give it one more try, not sure - but I would not recommend it due to my latest experience. Granted, the waiter die not charge us for my meal, but that is not the point. The point is that we went there to have a nice dinner, not walk away hungry.
We have gone to Trattoria Antica several times and ALWAYS raved about the food, however the service is awful - the place is too loud and tables too close together. This weekend we went for a special occasion and the bartender was also our waiter. He was nice and did the best he could but he was handling too much. You literally sit within two to three feet of other diners. The management of this place needs work.
