Fav restaurant in salt lake! I always enjoy my experience here. I would recommend any of the cocktails, any of the appetizers, the mushroom gnocchi, meatloaf, country chicken, and steak entrees.
The quality of food was good. The quantity of food was not. For some this restaurant might be more about the experience than the quantity, but for me if I’m going to pay this much for food, I’d like to leave satisfied.
I always ignore review requests but not this time. I'm a fairly regular customer, but didnt realize HOW regular until the staff greeted me and brought me thank-you Brussels sprouts. I truly love this restaurant. I've never been disappointed-small plates, entrees, brunch, all delicious!
Always love the food here however the service was seriously lacking tonight.
I love the openness of the restaurant and the natural light that fills the space. The food was amazing. We order the beet salad, cheddar grits and the steak. Each dish was absolutely delicious. We like to explore the food scene in SLC and this is at the top of my list.
The evening of Saturday, May 11th was my first time to try Tradition. I was impressed. The food was very good...I had the pork chop and it was cooked perfectly. We had great service and the value was excellent. Highly recommended.
Awesome drinks and food done nearly perfectly! Thanks to our fabulous bar tender who we loved for her expansive knowledge and open kindhearted attentiveness to our requests. Thanks again for the tasty beers, and cocktails! We loved every appetizer and then the ribs special!
Great food, great service, and right next to Liberty Park. I will be back again.
Great food, presented uniquely with style and excellence...
This place is awesome. Great comfort food.
The food is excellent, presentation is beautiful and the is very knowledgeable. The chicken and dumplings, Reuben sandwich are my favorite entrees. You really can’t go wrong with any of the appetizers, especially the grits, creamy and delicious! Comfort food with a gourmet twist.
Very nice evening. Excellent service and food. A little loud - but that's too be expected in this style of a restaurant.
This was our first visit to Tradition. This is one of the loudest places to dine in SLC. The service was adequate but we felt like we were being rushed along, maybe the server was getting off soon as our reservation wasn't until 8:00.
The food was average, I ordered the Gnocchi. I received 9 little Gnocchi served over a tiny bed of squash with mushrooms that were drenched in salt. For $18.00 I expected a lot more in some of portion and actual execution of the dish. Our other dish was the fried chicken sandwich that we ha heard good things about, it was average at best.
Very disappointed with the entire experience.
We asked to be seated in Tradition’s bar since on a prior visit we could barely hear each other in the dining room. We ordered the chicken and dumplings and the Utah trout. Both choices were outstanding. The trout was moist and properly cooked, with seasoned, beautifully cooked skin. The dumplings were herbed and pillow-soft, the broth was creamy and unctuous, punctuated with a sprinkle of spiky tōgarashi. The pieces of roast chicken were definitely in a supporting role. Ceza, our server, was knowledgeable and gracious and excellent at her job. An enjoyable experience. We are happy to have Tradition in our dining repertoire.
This is the third time we have dined at Traditions. All aspects of our experience makes TRADITIONS our "go to" restaurant"!
Third time visiting Tradition which centers around comfort food (aka calorie laden). My husband loves this place so thats why #3. We had a lovely bottle of wine and the brussel sprouts appetizer to start with. Both yummy. Then we ordered the grits which were too rich for me. My husband enjoyed the pork chop and I ordered the gnocchi. Most of the dishes are meat oriented and I don't eat meat so not many good main dishes for vegetarians. All of the food was good and our server was very attentive. The restaurant itself lacks for ambiance unless you get to sit on the patio. Overall. I think we will just order apps & dessert next times.
This first time I went to tradition the food was amazing and the last three times it’s been good but not great. I keep coming back because I am craving the experience I had my first visit. It’s a super cute place and the food is always good. A lot of times we look on open table the night of to see which restaurants have room then book. We did this the other night with tradition and showed up and said we made or reservation too late. Make sure you reserve a few hours ahead of time.
The food was okay, but the noise level was so high that I couldn't hear what the person inches away from me was saying - I basically had to read her lips. It was impossible to hear or understand the person sitting across from me. It all gave me a headache, couldn't finish my meal, and asked for the check so we could get out of there into the relatively quiet outside. People were packed in, the tables being close together, and with the kitchen & serving station exposed, it accelerated the noise of the packed house.
Tradition may become one! Intriguing location with parking. Comfortable seating and decor. Fabulous made from scratch apps, entrees and APPLE PIE! Took a chance on Tradition with business guests and was soundly thanked for the meal by all parties. Best local trout I ever ate!
Delicious! So my favorite new place, well done folks!
The food was excellent. The service was excellent. Very tasty comfort food.
Amazing food!!! The absolute must try are the Brussels sprouts.. could’ve just eaten those for my whole meal.. the chicken and dumplings was amazing as well.. yum!
We needed to wait twenty minutes for a table that had been reserved in advance. There's nowhere to sit or even stand without being right over someone else's take.
Did was great once we got to it.
Very good food. I like Traditions a lot. Parking is a little problematic but there is neighborhood parking available. Fried Chicken was served at the right temperature but Short Ribs were cooling. I will certainly return.
Excellent restaurant. In town, visiting from L.A. and found this place on a whim. My concierge told me this place was good, but it was much more than that. Great plates, good drinks, lots of food and very tasty. Get the cheese grits and the collards, so good! I’ve already recommended this place to several people and will definitely be back when I’m in town again.
Good food, great service and craft cocktails. Will definitely go back.
Tradition is a nice hidden gem in downtown Utah. We are very excited to try out their brunch too.
Tradition always serves delicious and fresh plates, and we sip and savor every time we visit. Definitely one of our favorite spots in SLC.
I been here with friends on several different occasions, so I’ve tried just about everything on the menu, and it’s all to die for. Grits? Love Em. Meatloaf? Come to mama.
You’ll love this place. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The building has a great history behind it, too! Located right by Liberty Park. Easy parking.
We had a very good dinner for a party of six. We made the reservation through OpenTable and our table was in a good spot waiting for us as planned. The food was great. “Comforting” without being overly fatty and with subtle flavors. Service was as expected for upscale casual. The location by Liberty Park is convenient. Nice decor. I recommend.
Great to share a few dishes
Loved the broccolini, mushroom risotto and ginger berry pie
A must place to try. You will be glad you did!
The only downside was that it was a bit noisy due to the open nature, but will be going back...SOON!
Fun place, great food! 🥰 The Blueberry pie was to die for...
This restaurant is fabulous. The watercress and warm goat cheese salad is amazing. Wonderful flavor. And the short ribs were incredible. Tender, juicy and almost better than homemade. And the prices incredibly reasonable. Staff was extremely attentive but not overly in your face. This place is an absolute must when you are in Salt Lake City.
The restaurant is very noisy and difficult to have a conversation . The service is extremely slow. Ordered a cheeseburger medium came out well down . My guest ordered meat loaf is was too spiced to eat. Would never go back
The cardamom blueberry pie was amazing! Such a nice meal!
And if I could give the service six stars, I would.
Outstanding restaurant that is no longer a secret, busy even away from downtown. Signature drinks in the bar are enjoyably unique. Service remains consistently good and the vibe is appealing. It is time, however, for a menu refresh. Looking forward to those new items...
