Trading Post Restaurant
Trading Post is open for dinner from Wednesday to Sunday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday Brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Despite the reservation, we never had a dedication waiter. Our service bounced between the hostess, a bar tender, and a buser. The food was good, but I’d not return due to the dreadful front-of-house service. Could have just been an off night, but I probably won’t revisit.
Atmosphere is open and vibrant. Food is well executed with comfort food at heart, but with an elevated appeal to it.
The food at Trading Post is always reliable and the room is always warm and friendly.
I was surprised as I've been to this restaurant before and enjoyed the food and staff there. The waitress we had was not very friendly at all. In fact, she seemed annoyed. Maybe because we brought a bottle of Sparkling wine with us... She never checked on us and took a long time to get our other couple their drinks. It wasn't busy at the time. The food was on the lightly burnt side. The duck fat tater tot was over-fried but the flavor was good. Chicken Pot Pie crust was a bit on the burnt side but not as much as the tots. My burger was great but I ended up having a slight stomach issue during the night. Not sure what that was from... Not saying it was from this restaurant but thought I would mention it since my friend who had the Fried Chicken had a similar experience but not as bad as mine. Also, it was my B-day and when I've gone to other restaurants - they at least acknowledged a celebration. I did say I would recommend this restaurant because I do believe that places deserve a second chance. Maybe it was just an 'off' night..... That happens.
This was mine and my husbands first time here and it was great, the staff was amazing and the food was great
The food was great as always, delicious! The service was poor, the worst we've experienced in all our meals here. I believe this was because it was fully booked, therefore, possibly understaffed. The wait staff looked harried. Other than the water, we had to ask for everything (who our wait person was, could we place our order, where is our salad, where is our soup, where is our bread, etc etc). Our bill was brought to us without desert being offered to us, also. We had to ask if there were deserts for the night and what they were. This service made this special Valentine's Day date less than special.
We don’t drink alcohol so the server usually avoids us in catering to the people who drink! Our server came over at 8:30 to ask what we had ordered because he couldn’t remember what it was. We had a 7:30 sitting and we did not receive our dinner until after 9pm
Food was excellent. We had the potato tots to start, then the flat iron steak and pork chop. Both were outstanding, I was talked into the 2" thick pork chop by the waiter and was very glad! The service however (while friendly and energetic) was HORRENDOUSLY slow. In fairness to the restaurant, it was Valentines day and the place was full but we felt the serving staff was grossly understaffed for the evening when we saw how many tables they were covering. So the service issue seemed to be more of a management/scheduling opportunity than anything having to do with the servers themselves. Ambiance was great, very open and natural wood tones while still trendy without being pretentious. We'll be back to see if the wait time is better on a non Holiday night. If they fix that, this will be well worth our drive from Santa Rosa.
The food is always fantastic - never a bad meal here. Creative and uniquely wonderful dishes. The service is always lousy. Long waits - confused wait-persons. Weren't in any rush so the overall experience was v good - but that's totally due to this chef's magic touch. DELICIOUS.
Always amazing and Chef Jude made the best apricot almond scones. They were fluffy and flavorful... plus everyone’s eggs came out cooked to their preference. I couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience. Oh and there were 10 of us!
We arrived right at 9 for our reservation. Rita met us at the door and welcomed us in from a cold, dreary evening into this super cozy restaurant. We had trout and the cannelloni special and everything was perfect. We highly recommend the Trading Post. It was a new find for us in Cloverdale and was our best dining experience overall during our week long Sonoma County vacation. Well done Rita and the Trading Post Team!
Great wine choices the Cast, Blanc de noir, was amazing and the food was great like the old bread versus the skillet but the duck was awesome
Dinner was wonderful! We love seeing Chef Eric, he came out and chatted with us for a bit. It was quite a busy night but our waiter Chris was very attentive. The food is alway delicious and we never go away hungry. Just wish I could save room for dessert.
Fresh vegetables, great pasta, attentive service. Delicious meal. Will go back soon!
Our waitresses was not attentive or helpful with items on the menu. Our meal took quite a while to get.
My wife's meal was over salted. They did realize that things were taking too long and treated us to a delicious dessert... we appreciated the gesture.
We love this place, especially for larger groups. Good locals wine list.
Great dining experience. Food was outstanding, great service, everything locally sourced and creatively prepared. Will definitely be back.
We always enjoy our dinner, I think the deserts are the only disappointment
We have eaten there several times, food is always good, service can be hit and miss, New Year's Eve was right on!
The food was all great. Simply delicious and memorable. Had the greens and grains salad which was tasty, different and fun and main course was the fried chicken thighs. Yum, yum, yum. Excellent food all around. You can’t go wrong and the pricing was spot on for the amount of food we got. Well worth every bite.
Lovely atmosphere and delectable fresh food. Can’t wait to return. I just wish they had a full bar.
Amazing food and service!
Great location, ambiance and atmosphere!! Will be back and highly recommend to friends!!!
Ordered a happy hour flatbread with prosciutto for $9. The bill came and I was charge an additional $2 for the prosciutto. The flatbread with prosciutto on the regular menu is $12. Does that mean it will ultimately be $14? After a leisurely an relaxing dinner its a shame to have to be on guard when the bill comes to notice and deflect nonsense like this. It makes me much less eager to return.
The food combines comfort food with farm-to-table and creative, tasty combinations. If you've read Dinner At The Homesick Restaurant, you'll feel you walked right into it. There's no full bar but there is an extensive wine and beer list. The portions are large enough that we took some home, this is not a tiny portion "California Cuisine" sort of place. The fresh baked goods are astonishing!
Delicious food, new ideas and dishes but there are several things on the menu that don't change. You don't have to worry that your favorite entree will disappear! One of my favorite rooms of all the restaurants I have ever visited. Excellent service, too! Kudos to Chef Eric.
Best meal in town.
Great food and atmosphere.
Never dissapointed by this awesome spot , great brunch and diner with local ingredients , prepare simply and very well seasonned.
Thanks also for the great service and value.
No cocktails but good wine selection. Large serving sizes. Creative preparation of usual dishes. Will return.
Came for brunch...eggs Benedict, eggs and sausage,mimosas....all delious. Great Benedict sauce, patty sausage very well seasoned and tender, good potatoes as well as a delicious home made scone. Outstanding!
Another great dinner at the Trading Post. Love the local ingredients.
Our dinner was wonderful with friends from out of town. Every dish was delicious and service was great.
Interesting menu but pricey for the area. Burger was great and service was wonderful. We need a place where you can have a satisfying and fun meal but not spend $100 for two on a week night, especially for we seniors who eat less. Space is beautiful for large groups.
Took our out-of-town friends there and we all enjoyed our food. Three of us got two different pastas, two of us got the burgers. All the entrees were delicious...no complaints. We also shared two appetizers (zucchini and eggplant caponata, and calamari) and a dessert (strawberry shortcake). The appetizers were delicious, although the caponata was really chunky and not what I was expecting, it was very pickley. The shortcake was delicious.
The service was fine, friendly and helpful. We love Trading Post.
As usual, the food is great but the service is spotty. Our food was delivered after the table was cleared of all dishes and utensils. We had to ask for forks and knives... again.
Wonderful experience and food. Very courteous staff.
Great food! Our favorite upscale restaurant in the greater Cloverdale/Healdsburg area.
Trading Post never disappoints! Excellent food and service!!!
So very disappointed in our experience at Trading Post. Have been looking forward to dining here since we moved to Cloverdale this summer. We chose to go on on Anniversary last night. The Hostess was friendly and honestly the only bright spot in the service. We noted on the reservation and mentioned to the hostess it was our Anniversary. We were seated immediately, and then waited nearly 20 minutes before our server even acknowledged our presence with “I will be with your shortly, I have a few other things to do...the specials are...”. Mind you there were still empty tables, and not what I would consider busy. My Husband spoke up and asked if we could at least order drinks. When she returned to take our order there was still no “welcome” or acknowledgement of our special occasion. Completely unprofessional. It was 45 minutes before we received our bread. Ordered the cornbread and it was burned and stuck in the cast iron pan. We scooped out what we could because we were starving at this point. My fried chicken was greasy and the oil it was cooked in was obviously old. The chicken was still pink. Generally the food was all “OK”, the mushroom appetizer was undercooked and the mushrooms were chewy. The best entree was my Mother’s Cavetelli, but honestly it was underwhelming also. Our server did stop by once to ask how everything was (my mouth was full), before I had a chance to speak she was gone. She obviously could have cared less. I hesitate to ever complain at a restaurant, since I have worked in the industry and my Son is a professional Chef, but there were just too many unacceptable things going on to stay silent. We will not be back. There are too many other places in Cloverdale and the surrounding areas to spend another wasted minute or dollar at the Trading Post.
