Avenida Brazil - Southwest Houston Ratings and Reviews
We were on time for our reservation, but the hostess sat multiple other parties that arrived after us, none of which had a reservation. We were forced to wait nearly 20 minutes to be seated in the restaurant, despite it being less than half full.
Salad bar offerings are a 1/4 of Fogo and Texas de Brazil.
Drinks from the bar took nearly 30 minutes.
The worst though were the meat offerings. I had to ask for filet as they do not bring it out automatically. It was served cold and was extremely tough and chewy. The scallops, which I also had to ask for, tasted old and spoiled.
Never again will we dine here!
my wife had reserved a table for our 17th wedding anniversary yesterday december 31 @ 3pm. we arrived a little early at 2:30 and totally expected to sit at the wet bar for a couple of drinks before our dinner. upon checking in with the hostess she informed us that they would be closing at 3pm to prepare for the dinner service. wow talk about the disappointment, and i then said well let’s go somewhere else! and my wife said “really” then the hostess informed us we could still eat and that we would not be interrupted. we deside to stay. WE ARE SURE HAPPY WE DID!
this was the best dinner we have had in a long time simply and absolutely the best food. this was our first time here but not our first Brazilian style restaurant but it is now our favorite one. our server a very nice lady well mannered and very attentive our water and beverage glasses never went empty and she always had a clean plate waiting on us and it shames me that i can not remember her name cause she is a credit to your staff and restaurant. i will message you her picture. she also took our pictures for us in front of the pretty christmas tree, which was our first pic this year in front of a c-tree. we can not wait to visit your restaurant again and bring friends and family.
We dined late on Christmas Day after the Steeler/Texan game. Not a lot of people but the food was still amazing and the staff was even more amazing! Way better than Fogo. Only thing I missed from Fogo was the polenta fries but their potatoes au gratin was very good. Definitely worth the travel time!
The food was amazing as always. The service was perfect. The servers knew the kinds of meat and how each person in our family liked it cooked and kept coming to make sure we had exactly what we wanted. I wanted scallops and they made sure that they brought them as soon as they were ready. Love this place!
Staff needs to learn what the red and green cards mean. As soon as we sat down from the salad bar, staff kept bringing meat to the table, even though all our cards were red. We asked them on at least 10 separate occasions to wait until we were ready. We had a party of 8, and they would force themselfs between the guests and interrupt us to ask what kind of meat we wanted. It was very rude and annoying to the point we wanted to leave. What was supposed to be a nice night ended up making my guests mad. For a bill over 500.00 that should not happen.
Had a reservation for 7:30 pm, but wasn't seated until after 8pm! Once we were seated, everything was perfect from that point. Food was great, drinks were great. Our waiter was very attentive to our needs. All of the servers were nice. We will definitely go back.
Annual team Christmas party which has become an important tradition to my folks. As always, the service, the food, and the overall experience was extraordinary. They may have changed their name this year, but if anything every visit is an improvement over the last. Thanks!
It’s been a while since I have updated. By far, this is my favorite restaurant. I took a Brazilian and a never had Brazilian food coworker here tonight to celebrate our very close birthdays. Of course Vanderlei, head chef and one of the owners greeted and seated me before my company arrived. I had a delicious caipiriñha and munched in pao de quejo while waiting. I ordered a Malbec and was suggested the Luca that went beautifully with our dinner. My friends arrived and the newbie tried my caipirinha and wanted one and we had wine drinks and ready for the salad bar. Excellent as always and my friends, new to the restaurant and one Brazilian loved it. They took their time on meat saying “I want to have dessert!” Which they did. We had our sides. My gosh the potatoes au gratin are amazing. We got some black beans and faroafa to round it out and were in heaven. The meats were amazing as always. The service outstanding thanks to Vanderlei and “Ed” and my dessert was a Nosotros Malbec which is out of this world. The girls had a “taste”. I had a glass and then wrapped it to take home. They had flan and papaya creme. I’ve had both the are outstanding. Then I had a cognac for my own dessert. So my rating is a 5 compared to all the competition in town. The newbie said “this is just amazing”. Our Brazilian said “this was outstanding much better than fogo or any other place I’ve been”. Tonight I went a little pricier as it was by birthday gift to them but easily you can do this inexpensively with dinner and just drinks. And it will still be amazing. Guys want to impress a lady and enjoy a meal yourself. Come here. Ladies want to suggest a date to your guy? He will live it and so will you. You can have as much or as little as you please. What is great is I’ve never met anyone who has called Avenida de Brazil anything other than amazing!
We were celebrating a birthday and could not have had a better time. The planning was made easy by the staff, their custom cake was both delicious and a work of art, ambiance was pleasant and the food and service were excellent. Everyone left full, happy and most impressed by a wonderful evening of food and fun.
We had been to Avenida before, when it was Tradicao. Other than the name change, everything is the same. Great food, excellent service. The only disappointment was that there was a wedding reception going on at the same time and their music was quite loud. We have not experienced this before on previous visits. We like to enjoy a more quiet atmosphere and enjoy conversation. It is not a major complaint, maybe when booking a reservation remember to ask if there will be any parties with music playing.
First time I wrote a review for this restaurant, I lied. I said it coudn't get any better.
But it did. The meats and service are still beyond compare. And now they have added
the best Au Gratin potatoes I have ever tasted as one of your free sides. I would pay
the price just for those potatoes. But since I was there anyway, I took full advantage of
top cuts of meat anywhere. Top sirloin, bottom sirloin, ribeye, filet mignon, best
lamb chops ever. I've traveled to 50 countries and 45 states and haven't found a better
place to eat.
My family and I had an excellent experience here. It was our first and certainly mot our last visit. The wait staff was very punctual. We didn't ask for anything except for a pillow. There was an abundance of food. Too much to eat all that was being offered. I am not the one to eat salmon, but on this visit I had quite of view pieces. Pleasantly surprised. We had to tell the rest of family members and friends about our experience here. I informed them not to eat anything before they go(lol). We had so much that we couldn't dare tackle the desserts. This most definitely has to be a return trip. This restaurant get 5 stars.
This is our first time here since it switched to Avenida Brazil. Overall food was decent. Reservation was an hour and half before close time so salad bar didn’t look as fresh as it should be. Reservation was made for a birthday dinner. Prior to arriving I noticed that it was Houston Restaurant Week. We sat down and began eating while many servers were serving various meats. A server came up to us and ask us if we wanted scallops then before he was about to drop it on a plate he stood and said sorry this isn’t on your menu. Okay... wasn’t aware that this “all you can eat” is limited menu. But okay... whatever. Next server comes and a guest from our table requested shrimp. That server then says it’s not on the menu.. so okay, no problem. Can I pay for the diner that has open options? So finally the server delivers shrimp on this one guests plate. The birthday person then realizes that there was shrimp on his plate and takes a small bite to see how good this shrimp is at Avenida. Within 2 seconds, a guy walks over and says if you want shrimp you have to pay for it... number one that was rude of you to call the birthday guy out in front a large group. Secondly, if someone mentioned it at the beginning we wouldn’t be questioning. And lastly that’s the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. I’ve been to various Brazilian steak house for lunch and dinner. Special price or not and this by far was one of the poor service we received. Checks were slow to deliver and felt like everyone working was ready to leave... could use some more work on customer service skills.
Sunday brunch was not impressive. I thought there would be more brunch options. It was only an omelette station, waffles and fruit. The picanha was not tender and did not melt in my mouth as it should have. It was tough and not very good. That is my favorite meat cut and I was sadly disappointed even after trying several different slices throughout the meal. Liked that they offerred shrimp though. Potato salad was the best. Do not think we will return though.
I understand the struggle, I understand needing to fill the restaurant, BUT!!! I don't understand spending $200 on a meal and allowing shorts and flip flops in the dining room, set them a table in the parking lot. I have children, love children, BUT!!! letting them act the same as if they were at a fast food burger joint I don't understand, not on the restaurant... that's on the parents.... I think a dress code would stop a lot of this and I wish they would enforce it, there's casual and then there's super casual.
