Great craic. As a tradesman myself, I noticed the masonry bar top and the craftsmanship. Loved it. Good atmosphere, need to turn the light up just a wee bit because I could not see the food menu or my boots.
We brought two friends from NYC to Tradesman's after a Temple men's basketball game and we all agreed that the meal, service, atmosphere and location were perfect. Inventive appetizers and interesting spins on familiar BBQ entrée favorites, cool music and plenty of TVs for a fun vibe, and an attentive waitstaff quick to refill drinks makes Tradesman's perfect for hanging out with friends. This will be one of my family's go-to spots in Center City.
Great food, great scene, great time. Will certainly be back again
Good eats, great service and nice drink selection. Will definitely return.
Tried this restaurant with my friend before we headed to the theatre. We were pleasantly pleased. The portions are huge, even the sides. It is a good opportunity to share unless you want to bring home food for the next day. I had the brisket and it was well seasoned and flavorful.
Wonderful food and great choice of interesting craft beers. We will be back!
Excellent food and atmosphere!
It was really good. We were seated immediately, the drink selections were really good. The food was also good. My brother and I both order the Tri-tip, but they were out of it. We both got the brisket instead. It was good. The brisket beans are amazing.
It was loud but a fun time.
Fun atmosphere- better for the younger crowd! Very loud, but good place to watch a game, etc.
The food is average. The bourbon selection is great. Beers on draft are good too. The noise level was so loud it was hard to hear across the table.
Good place to watch sports. They were very accommodating to me when I came and sat me right away. My friends wanted to be near a TV to watch a basketball game. They were able to move us without much of a hassle when I asked. That was very nice of them! Our waitress was super friendly.
It was weird that they were out of certain bourbons that we ordered. Food was good, not outstanding but still good. We had a good time and that all that matters!
Great fun spot. Outstanding bbq and variety. Came a w large group was seated and served fast! New to Tradesman and definitely will be back. We did the Tailgater and Omnivore for a delicious sampling of apps, enters and sides.
Top billing goes to the bbq/roasted chicken, brisket, and ribs and the kale Caesar salad was delicious!!
Recently had family in town and wanted to get something good to eat in the city before walking around Christmas Village. We thought this restaurant would be a good in-between of chain and super fancy. I made a reservation on open table only about 20 mins prior to coming in and it was accepted and confirmed. We had a larger party, 7 adults and 2 kids under 6. I stood at the host stand for about 15 mins before anyone even acknowledged my or my family's existence. The Eagles game had just finished up, so I get it, people were probably bombarded earlier in the day and working to clean up tables for the evening, but waiting 15 mins just to be noticed was the first red flag. The host finally greeted me and I said we made the res on open table, gave her my name, etc. She huffed and puffed when I said it was for 9 people and ran away to go talk to other coworkers. 5 minutes later she returns and takes us upstairs to seat us at two 6-seater high top tables, again, we had 2 children under 6 with us so high seats really wouldn't work well and also splitting us up when we could see 3-5 empty regular tables to the side. We politely asked if we could push the lower tables together so we can all sit together and continued to get attitude from the hostess and some excuse as to why we couldn't do that. She also explained to us that an online reservation is treated differently than a call in reservation, which literally makes no sense. She finally gave in after a few of us said something to her about not being accommodating and again politely trying to get our entire family to sit together, but then she starts slamming the tables and chairs together like a child that didn't get their way. It was 100% ridiculous and unprofessional. Our server was very nice and accommodating, but there were still some flaws throughout the night that led to us talking to a manager. I don't think I've ever been treated that rudely in Philadelphia, and I've lived here for over 7 years.
Computers were down so they could not calculate our meal. We manually had to help the waitress with our bill, and show her how to calculate sales tax. She brought us a HAND WRITTEN receipt. I understand it wasn’t her fault, but it took us almost an hour and 20 minutes to get our final check.
Food was just ok. Ribs a little dry. Mac and cheese, not cheesy enough. Wanted to love it, but really, just ok.
I made reservations to bring out of town colleagues to Tradesman’s for lunch today at 1:30. They have never been to Philadelphia before and I wanted to make sure to take them to a nice sports bar for lunch and football. I was confused when we tried to come in and were rudely yelled at to come back at 2pm since I clearly had 1:30 reservations. When we came back at 2, we were again rudely told they weren’t done brunch. I’m not sure if this is a thing they do every Sunday or not because the place is so new, but why would they allow me to make reservations online? It was embarrassing to be treated this way especially in front of people not from here. I will not be back.
Great bar/food experience. Everyone left full, tipsy, and happy. Mission accomplished.
Place isn’t a restaurant...it’s a club that is very loud, not enough light to read the menu, awful service and mediocre food.
Great food and location. Can't wait to go back! Nacho's are amazing!
Went with friends to catch up and watch the sixers game. Great cocktails and beers. Tried a few cocktails, cider flight, and beer flight. Also shared some apps. Everything was awesome!
Wanted to take leftovers home - was brought a cardboard box that had no coating to prevent leakage and when i questioned it i was brought a piece of tinfoil - i had to ask for a bag to carry home and server seemed confused - the manager jumped in - asked for sugar for my tea and was brought a splenda- I asked server for sugar and was told they didn't have any - it was all so haphazard
Food was delicious but service was slow and not attentive. It is a bar trying to be a restaurant. It was loud and had many drunk people. Not a nice dinner out type of place.
Waitress was not very good. Didn’t write order down and didn’t get it right. Then actually questioned us like we were wrong and she was right as to what was ordered.
It was freezing in the restaurant- people waiting to get into the bar area and they allowed the front door to remain open for a long period of time instead of keeping it closed til more people could walk in.
Wouldn’t rush back.
We booked off of Open Table, but didn’t realize it was more of a club atmosphere on Friday nights. We had to resort to texting because we couldn’t hear the person next to us. Good food, but not for hanging out.
Great food, terrible service. Also very loud-server couldn’t hear us above the music and was shouting at us in order to be heard.
Admittedly, I’m from the South, so although I don’t consider myself an authority on the subject of BBQ, I’ve eaten my faIr share of the food. That said, here’s my assessment:
Food- meh (food was virtually tasteless without the addition of sauce); service- average; waitstaff uniforms that show more than a little butt cheek- less than appetizing. I have also never been to a BBQ restaurant in any region of the country that does not allow substitutions for side items, as is the practice at Tradesman’s. There are extensive beer and whiskey lists to choose from. The bottom line- go to Tradesman’sto drink. Go elsewhere to eat.
Service was very slow and at times the bar crowd was spilling over near our table.
Heard a lot of great things about this new place, so I was excited to eat here last weekend. The food was 10/10 but the service was poor. We waited awhile to have our orders taken and when our food was delivered, we had no silverware or napkins at our table and waited awhile for those as well. It was also so loud in the restaurant that it was extremely hard to get any server's attention. We were not expecting it to be so loud and crowded at 6 pm. Basically, the food and beer choices were good but the service was disappointing and it was just far too loud to fully enjoy our dinner.
This place has amazing food. Their BBQ is delicious, and has easily become a new favorite of mine in Philadelphia. It’s a fun atmosphere with country music playing and big screens at the bar. The food is well priced and the sides are mouth watering.
Delicious food! The brisket and ribs were outstanding! Best brisket I’ve had in philly. So good!! If you’re looking for good BBQ, this is the place! Good beer and whiskey selection too. It was pretty popping at night on the weekends.
The atmosphere is lively and it gets noisy. Portions were generous and the meats and sides were pretty good.
This is a relatively new place but already looks to be pretty popular. We had a reservation and were seated right away. It did take over an hour to get any food, but our meals were delicious, the atmosphere was fun, and the drink prices were reasonable. Our server was great but she was really swamped so things took longer than expected. We will definitely go back but hope they will have added extra staff and worked out the ‘new restaurant kinks by then.
I'm sending you my review, because I want you to know how bad the experience was: The food, if you can get it, is good. Our server, when she showed up, was nice. Everything else, a disaster. Why, when we got there at 7 and the actual dining area was only modestly busy, did it took exactly two hours to get our food? Why did It take nearly 45 minutes to get our first round of drinks. Why did I have to go get plates, utensils and napkins after we were given an order of nachos and a cheese plate, (due to the lateness of the drinks)? Why did someone else at the table have to get up and get two water pitchers to refill our water glasses when we asked for more water 3 or 4 times? Finally, why did the manager think telling us our food took so long "because two orders had been put in for the same table," would make things ok? That's a problem it should take 5 min to fix, and doesn't begin to address all of the other issues, OR why two different tables that sat down at least 45 min after us BOTH got there food before us. And why take $36 off the bill, considering it only covered about 1/3rd of the food and none of the drink? That was basically worse than doing nothing, because it was extra level We-have-no-idea-what-we're-doing, so let's just take off a random amount.
Went here with a group of 10 for husband’s birthday and had a great time! Food was delicious - definitely recommend the platter options especially for big groups. Great way to taste a little bit of everything. Great bbq food overall. Not overly smokey or heavy in sauce.
Music too country-heavy. Service pretty slow.
Very noisy environment, good service, good food, bartender made a poor old fashion
There on a Saturday night @ 730 for dinner. Super loud to the point I could barely hear the person across from me. Good drink menu, for was average some what plain. If you want to catch a game great spot. If you want to talk with your friends go elsewhere.
We were there on a Friday night (early) and it was really, really loud. Very hard to converse with your dining partners. The food was decent...neither especially good nor bad. Our server, Kerri or Karrie, was excellent.
BBQ chicken was the best meat of the three we had. Pulled pork was moist and OK. Briscuit was chewy, dry and fatty. Meh. But as stated, the chicken is worth a return visit. Service was poor but it was during an Eagles game (and a loss at that). They're new, they were slammed....I'm not giving up on service. But the BBQ at the end of the day was ..... ok.
The food was very good. We dined on a night when there was a street festival that day and the server told us they were out of many of their cocktails. Not sure if this was due to the festival, but it was really inconvenient since my friends ordered two different cocktails and each time the server came back to tell us that they were unavailable. Because of this inconvenience, we got the first round of drinks comped, which was very nice! It is a really loud space so I would not recommend it for a first or second date if you want to be able to hear what the other person is saying. Also, the menu has options at the top like "pick two" or "pick three" or "tailgate" where you can mix and match meats with sides. I went with a group of 7 and some of us chose the pick two option only to be told that they don't actually offer those "specials". I would recommend the restaurant reprinting their menus because along with the cocktails being unavailable, the whole thing just seemed very unorganized. Nevertheless, thanks to the tasty BBQ food and company, we enjoyed ourselves.
