Trade Street Diner
Excellent all around and from start to finish. Warm welcome, hot coffee and beyond delicious food made up our morning here. Highly recommend and will stop by again when in the area.
A solidly wonderful meal and experience again. Easy atmosphere, fun twists on traditional classics, upscale meal at a reasonable price. Will be back again!
Fabulous place ....first time...will be back!
Great cocktails, variety of food choices...and great service.
Solid dinner place in Winston Salem with a nice variety of food and drinks
We are local, and this is one of our favorite restaurants. Do not be misled by “diner” in the name. This is a casual, comfortable spot for a date, dinner with friends, or business lunch.
There’s a nice variety of menu items and daily specials, all deliciously prepared. Service is friendly, attentive, never intrusive. Personal favorites include the Moroccan braised lamb shank, the mixed greens salad, the scallops with risotto, and the generous serving of creamy mac & cheese served bubbling hot in cast iron.
Food was fabulous, service excellent. Always very good!
Had ate lunch there several times. This was the first time for dinner. Was not disappointed. Love the great selection of veggies/fixings. The lemon drop Martini was one of the best I’ve ever had. We will be back.
Absolutely wonderful experience from the greeting to the dessert. We will most definitely return soon.
Delicious food & outstanding service. Relaxing but very quick service, too. We will be returning😊
This was my second visit to Trade Street Diner. The first time was for dinner on a Saturday night and was good, but I was surprised at how much they were out of that time. My husband and I took my stepson and his girlfriend there for Sunday brunch. I was interested in the eggs benedict with crab cakes but they were out of crab cakes... 2 of us ordered the regular eggs benedict, one ordered the breakfast burrito and one ordered the sausage omelet with a side of toast. One ordered french fries instead of breakfast potatoes with a side of ranch and that was forgotten. My eggs benedict was overcooked. It was like eating a hard boiled egg over an english muffin. We also ordered 3 bloody marys. I've never seen a more basic bloody mary. No olive, no celery stalk etc, jsut a slice of lemon. After the food was brought, the server forgot the toast. So we had to ask for that immediately. My stepson then thought the burrito was bland so he asked for hot sauce. The toast then came out without butter so we had to ask for that. At that point the server said, and maybe she was kidding but it came across as annoyed...but she said, "anything else while I'm at it?" And she never checked in with us after that. With all of the other options for brunch in this town, I wouldn't recommend.
Food was prepared well and delicious. Our server was absent for long periods of time. There were only 3 other tables seated and he only had our table plus 1.
Terrible service. Cold fried oysters on oyster salad, over cooked fritter appetizer. Waitress was inattentive, manager/host never checked on meal.
Will not return.
Meh. Our experience left us feeling that the Trade Street Diner is a "nothing special" restaurant offering a "nothing special" experience. There was a large party there when we arrived but they already had their food and were trickling out by the time we ordered. There were no more than six couples in the restaurant while we were there. I ordered the burger and my wife ordered the surf and turf. My burger was under cooked and my wife`s steak was over cooked. I ordered by burger medium well and my wide ordered her steak medium rare. Seems they flipped our temps when preparing our meals. Portion size was fine and everything tasted ok. Not bad food but not anything remarkable. Our server came around and took our order and never came by again until it was time for the check. If you are downtown and looking for a place to go that will stave off hunger until the next meal then the Trade Street Diner will do. You can find better food, better service and a better experience within two blocks in any direction.
Made a reservation because the restaurant looked great and it wasn’t a long walk from our hotel. THE RESTAURANT WAS CLOSED! There was a sign in the door window saying they were closed on Tuesday for the summer. I know they must easily be able to change details for the Open Table reservation abilities. So frustrating to put faith in a restaurant for how they are represented on line on,y to be “completely “ let down.
Just love the food! Portions are large enough but not huge. Flavors galore. A definite favorite. Roast Chicken is perfection. AND they graciously substitute sides. Excellent service.
Outstanding food and service! Interesting and delicious combinations.
Everything was wonderful except we made reservation online 2days before and received reminders but when we got to the restaurant they had no record of our reservation
Service was great! Everyone was attentive and super friendly. Food was great. I visited this location during brunch on Sunday and it wasn’t over crowded. Table was ready well in Advance. I ordered the steak and eggs and steak was extremely Small but the server informed me of it but wasn’t expecting it to be that small. Other than that I would definitely recommend this spot.
excellent food and service! Staff super friendly and helpful, I am definitely bringing my friends here next.
Food was mediocre and expensive. Music was very loud. It was my dad’s birthday and we ordered dessert - there were no special touches like a candle or birthday wish let alone complimentary dessert. It was a very poor choice for special occasion. We won’t go back.
Enjoyed Father's Day Brunch, diverse menu selection, delicious chicken and waffles!
The food was great, the ribeye steak my husband got was delicious, however the roasted chicken was cold and dry. Hush puppies are a must, absolutely delicious!
Love this place. Great food & great drinks!
excellent meal with good value and very good service
The food was awesome. A great twist on Southern food. I will be going back.
I ordered the diver scallops over risotto. The scallops were delicious, however I only received 5. The risotto was very bland and I had to use a ton of salt. After finishing my $24 meal, I was still hungry.
The name diner throws you through a loop when you walk in/ select from the menu. I would call it a hipster fresh restaurant. Or even upscale hipster diner food as it is not traditional diner food. Everything we had tasted wonderful!
Brooks welcomed me with a compliment. Cat was great! Food came out super fast. Wine was nice, dessert was yummy. 5 ⭐️ s
We enjoyed the atmosphere, food and friendly staff. Very good cocktails with unique flavors. Nice food presentation and excellent taste. Wait staff was knowledgeable about menu and attentive. We’ll be back!
Service good. Entrees beautiful and tasty. Fish dishes and Angus burgers were done every nicely. Specialty mixed drink just ok. Dessert - Not good. Shells of desserts were clearly ready-made. Cheesecake void of sweetness and chocolate pie was gritty ganache. Go for the entrees.
Great food, lovely drinks. Will definitely return. Service was good and food items perfectly modified to suit dietary restrictions and personal preferences. Prices were reasonable - four dinners, three drinks about $105.
Everything is exceptional at Trade St Diner! We brought Cambodian friends from NoVa who wanted some traditional Southern food, and they were not disappointed. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable and our food was hot and tasty. The manager runs a tight, tidy, and friendly ship, and we enjoy our experience every time.
Our school sent our Secretaries there for Administrative Assistant day and they truly enjoyed the food, ambiance. the waitress and staff were accommodating to our needs of what we wanted to do for our secretaries and very helpful. They went for lunch and the price for all tree was very reasonable because they all ordered dessert and it was still less that $50 which included a nice tip for the waitress.
Waitress kind and personable. However, needed to flag down for service. Just did not check on us. Do not like when wait staff is rushing.
This was my first time. Two friends joined me and we all liked the food a lot.
Excellent service, food was very good, location represents downtown Winstin-Salem and people were so welcoming! We were there for a college visit for my daughter and she fell in love with the whole city!
The appetizers (pimento cheese and the shrimp we outstanding. Unfortunately my entree (toasted chicken) was dry and not nearly as good as our server said it was. Otherwise it was a very good experience and we would return. The scallops looked good.
This was our 1st trip to Trade Street Diner, but will definitely not be our last. The food was outstanding - fresh-made redskin potato salad, best collards ever, and the most tender and moist fried chicken breast. The service was also just right -- attentive without being overbearing. Our new favorite!
Great food and outstanding service! What else could you ask for?
Food was just OK. Expected it to be more creative and upscale. Music was loud and not a style pleasing to a wide variety of customer.
