Trade Street Diner
The service was mediocre and there seemed to be a disconnect as to who was taking care of what tables. A party of 4 next to us left because they were not acknowledged and then when they ordered coffee it never came. The turnaround from ordering to food arriving was quick but the meal lacked flavor.
Had wonderful supper before going to Ramkat for music. Food and service was top notch. Would visit again
Food was terrible. When we informed them they just said “sorry” then walked off and charged up full price for our meal.
Waitress didn't refill water even after requested.
Scallops tasted of iodine. Rest of meal was wonderful and service was adequate.
Nice local ambiance.
Valentines Day. The food was good but way overpriced for the portions. The staff was friendly and attentive for a busy evening. The food arrived in a timely manner. I wouldn’t return for any reason because of the price.
Chose this restaurant for our V-day date night. Entrees were good but the appetizers left much to be desired. I keep going back because I want this place to be a hit, my wife is not as complimentary. Ordering hint: go with their daily special you will have a win every time. Be leery of the Crab Cake appetizer, two small frozen crab cakes over a fresh salad. For entree we had the trio which included perfectly cooked steak, a FRESH crab cake, and lovely shrimp grilled to perfection.
Long story short, put this place on your list. Come with an open mind and let your server steer you in the right direction.
wife had crab cake appetizers, they were ok but not great, D-I-L had omelet which she said was very good. the fresh fruit was very good I had tree egg brunch w bacon and sausage-the meats were good and eggs were done as asked. the breakfast potatoes were too salty. Overall was good and we will return
The food was incredible! Everything we ordered was spot on. However, our waiter was not good. He absolutely had no personality, was not friendly, and we could barely hear him. I have never experienced a waiter quite like him. The other wait staff there seemed to be much more interactive and pleasant.
The lamb shank was very small. There needed to be a larger quantity of the side. I only had 5 very small potato wedges. I do not like Brussels sprouts even so there were only about 5-6 halves.
Yummy! Great meal for all. Fish special, steak and chicken dishes were all outstanding!
Wine list and food/prices nicely matched. Music could be a little louder and more laid back for dining.
Food was wonderful. Atmosphere great as well. Will for sure come back.
Food was great. The service could of been a little better our waiter just was not as pleasant as we have had in the past. Overall not bad will definitely return.
Very good food and good service
Service was prompt, food very good taste and appearance, rather quite setting.
We arrived early and were seated right away, which was nice, but we were seated in front of the door so every time it opened we got a cold breeze, which was not so nice.
Our server was not enthusiastic to see us, to say the least. We had to ask him to repeat himself several times because he was talking so low. He did not give us any information about the specials nor ask if we wanted appetizers. He brought the menus and asked if we were ready to order right then. Um, no, we need to look at the menu.
I ordered the schnitzel and grits. The grits and collard greens were OUTSTANDING. I could have eaten a bowl of them alone and been very happy.
The schnitzel was disappointing. It was served with 'tomato bacon jam' supposedly. In reality, it was served with large chunks of tomatoes in sugar water which sogged up the crust of the schnitzel to make it mushy and unappetizing. There was no taste to the 'jam' other than sweet. Tomato jam and bacon jam are usually sweet, smokey, tangy, spreadable, and have a jam like consistency and are DELICIOUS. I don't know what this stuff was but it was not tomato bacon jam and it totally wrecked the dish.
My friend had shrimp in cajun cream sauce. I tasted it. Not spicy at all. She was disappointed with her dish for lack of spice and they left the shrimp tails on which made the dish messy to eat.
My other friend ordered the scallops over risotto. She liked the dish but did say all she could taste were leeks.
Our bill came before we were finished eating so I guess the chocolate pie for dessert was a 'no go'.
Will I be back to Trade Street Diner? Probably not since there are so many great choices in Winston in which to spend my money.
This was a special occasion. The service was slow and frustrating. The food was pretty good, but dis not knock my socks off. No bread was offered. All in all, just okay.
Excellent service (which is actually hard to find) and delicious food. Like the cozy atmosphere and happy waitress!
Felt sorry for the servers, there only seemed to be 3 of them for the lunch crowd but service was still good and the food was great
Great food! Already planning to go back and try brunch!
Great service, delicious food, and comfortable seating made for an enjoyable lunch with friends!
Excellent food. Definitely will return.
We often visit Mast General store so an easy walk across the street. Excellent service. Cabbage Stew soup was delicious!
Something must have gone wrong in the kitchen because it was very smokey when we went in and stayed that way. Food was good, service very good.
Out-of-town visitors enjoyed it very much! Always fabulous food and service.
We had such wonderful service from the host that sat us to our waitress Vanessa. Everyone was most attentive. the food was fabulous. I had the Calamari and Lamb Shank. Friends had the beet and goat cheese salad, some had the burger, some chili all were delicious . Plus on Wednesday wine is half price per glass and drink using well liquor are $5. Bring a designated driver and have a blast,
We will go back many times, so glad to discover this restaurant
Always enjoy Tradw Street when in town. Bean soup was very good. Pecan great way to start a dinner. Service always nice and friendly. Price is right. Nice location in downtown.

Great southern food in casual comfortable setting. A hidden gem in WS.
Great drinks and happy hour. Great food and presentation.
Excellent all around and from start to finish. Warm welcome, hot coffee and beyond delicious food made up our morning here. Highly recommend and will stop by again when in the area.
A solidly wonderful meal and experience again. Easy atmosphere, fun twists on traditional classics, upscale meal at a reasonable price. Will be back again!
Fabulous place ....first time...will be back!
Great cocktails, variety of food choices...and great service.
Solid dinner place in Winston Salem with a nice variety of food and drinks
We are local, and this is one of our favorite restaurants. Do not be misled by “diner” in the name. This is a casual, comfortable spot for a date, dinner with friends, or business lunch.
There’s a nice variety of menu items and daily specials, all deliciously prepared. Service is friendly, attentive, never intrusive. Personal favorites include the Moroccan braised lamb shank, the mixed greens salad, the scallops with risotto, and the generous serving of creamy mac & cheese served bubbling hot in cast iron.
Food was fabulous, service excellent. Always very good!
Had ate lunch there several times. This was the first time for dinner. Was not disappointed. Love the great selection of veggies/fixings. The lemon drop Martini was one of the best I’ve ever had. We will be back.
Absolutely wonderful experience from the greeting to the dessert. We will most definitely return soon.
Delicious food & outstanding service. Relaxing but very quick service, too. We will be returning😊
This was my second visit to Trade Street Diner. The first time was for dinner on a Saturday night and was good, but I was surprised at how much they were out of that time. My husband and I took my stepson and his girlfriend there for Sunday brunch. I was interested in the eggs benedict with crab cakes but they were out of crab cakes... 2 of us ordered the regular eggs benedict, one ordered the breakfast burrito and one ordered the sausage omelet with a side of toast. One ordered french fries instead of breakfast potatoes with a side of ranch and that was forgotten. My eggs benedict was overcooked. It was like eating a hard boiled egg over an english muffin. We also ordered 3 bloody marys. I've never seen a more basic bloody mary. No olive, no celery stalk etc, jsut a slice of lemon. After the food was brought, the server forgot the toast. So we had to ask for that immediately. My stepson then thought the burrito was bland so he asked for hot sauce. The toast then came out without butter so we had to ask for that. At that point the server said, and maybe she was kidding but it came across as annoyed...but she said, "anything else while I'm at it?" And she never checked in with us after that. With all of the other options for brunch in this town, I wouldn't recommend.
Food was prepared well and delicious. Our server was absent for long periods of time. There were only 3 other tables seated and he only had our table plus 1.
