The food was great when it finally came out. We were the only table and could not get served. We had to ask repeatedly for the drinks we had ordered in the bar area. We almost left, but it was Christmas day & we weren't sure who else was open.
At one point we couldn't get our server so we went to the bar & ordered drinks & got them quickly there. It was really terrible. We had reservations, so they knew we were coming & there were only 8 of us, so I'm not sure why it was so difficult. Other diners left before their meals came. If there was a problem, they should have let us know. That may have helped our frustration.

We had Christmas Dinner at Trade Root and expected so much more for the price. The service was off as we sat down for 20 minutes before having to ask for help. We had to ask for everything and dishes piled up on the table before they were removed. The food seemed like some was previously frozen as the crab claws were tired. The boiled shrimp was good but the gnocchi was hard and tough to chew. They had a good cheese display with bread. There were three carving stations but everything was overcooked especially the prime rib. The cost was way too much at $95 a person without drinks and we won’t go back.

I would not recommend the Christmas Brunch. It was held in a conference/meeting space that lacked ambiance. The food was slightly above average. It was very difficult to get service. For the price, the experience was not worth it. The only positive thing I could say is the desert station was impressive.

The worst buffet ever. It was like going to a nursing home cafeteria. The brunch was not held at the restaurant instead they put us in one of their conference rooms with cheap table cloth and cheap silverware. Almost every meal was dried out and no taste. Shocking considering this was formerly Ritz.

This restaurant was vastly overpriced. The food quality and service were just good. For a restaurant in The Whitley, I expected much better food quality and service. Disappointed.

The Resturant was closed on Sunday. It was a huge inconvenience because I invited guest to join me for dinner. However, bar attended allowed us to order from menu. Open able needs to do better job to ensure Resturant is open at time booking is made.

I booked reservations for 8 of my girlfriends to enjoy brunch and discuss 2020 strategies. The food, staff and host were amazing. They allowed us to stay long after we had finished food to chat. Not to mention the hotel holiday decor was just perfect for social media/ selfie content. I would come back!!

I have been there too many times now and every time disappointed. It is mostly about the extremely SLOW service. Seems like there are no waiters! This last time was awful. Had a reservation for breakfast and sat for 12 minutes before a man came to give us coffee or juice. We asked for a waiter to take our order and he said one would come. 10 minutes later he came back to give us water. With two pictures of water in his had he filled three of our four glasses (missed serving my boss!) and left. Maybe six minutes later our waiter came. And eventually my boss was given water. No return to see how the food was. 20 minutes after eating, finally got the bill to pay. Another 15 for him to retrieve it. I have worked in the restaurant industry for 15 years and with the size of this restaurant, this should never happen. High end prices with horrible service should shut this place down. I will never recommend or return there.

The positives: drink a peach drink was yummy, dinner service and food was fantastic.
The negatives: our waiter at the bar said the signature drink was awful and proceeded to tell us nothing as an alternative. Breakfast was extremely over priced and the service was non existent. Would never go back for breakfast.

So this hotel used to be a Ritz-Carlton, and it's now under the brand the Whitley, another luxury Marriott brand I suppose. Anyway, when we went to eat here, there was nobody in the restaurant at 6 on a Friday evening. Everyone was in the lounge, which is where all that activity is. The ambiance in the restaurant is definitely lacking. They still had the three tables set up, for breakfast I suppose, in the middle of the restaurant which is kind of tacky. But they very well may not have any place else to put them and/or staff to move them back and forth. So I was wondering how dinner would be. The short rib and the mashed potatoes were some of the best I've ever had at any restaurant with shaved brussel sprouts on top. My potatoes were actually lukewarm so they made me an entire new batch. My husband's fillet was better than the filet we had it Bones over the summer so I would definitely go back if I was in the area; the food was delicious! The alcohol is always too expensive at theur luxury properties, however I don't think they're going to change the pricing based on my input. :-) If you're going to 'see & be seen', this is definitely not the place to go. But if you're a foodie and just want really good food with solid service, then I would definitely recommend going here. The reason I gave it a 4-star is because of the lack of ambience.

We were staying at the hotel traderoot is located in and had made a reservation a few weeks ahead of time. Upon arriving just before our reservation we were informed the the restaurant was closed, seating was now first come first serve, and they are out of 90% of the menu items. We never received a call or any notice of the closing despite having a reservation that was confirmed via text the day before. Needless to stay we were extremely frustrated and did not end up dining here. This was absolutely terrible customer service as well as restaurant operations. I wouldn’t try to go back or ever recommend.

Perhaps it was the pleasant surprise of a well prepared meal - the place was so deadly quiet and the table was set for breakfast service we considered looking for another place. We had a great meal. The peanut hummus and pimento cheese starter was great. Server recommended grouper and short rib entrees- our table ordered both snd happy to have done so. The fish was superbly fresh. Short rib accompanied by a creamed potato that was shared and noted as exceptional. Bar service is excellent and the Manhattan cocktails expertly prepared. Comprehensive if overpriced wine list. They is a shortage of servers should the place ever fill up but those there are good natured and competent.

At noon on a Wednesday in Buckhead, we were the only table. That seemed off. It's a brightly lit place that's awkwardly positioned around the coprner from the bar so it felt as if we were in a conference room by ourselves. No music, no atmosphere at all. Service was fine, a bit rushed and a little haphazard, but not unpleasant. The appetizers (boiled peanut hummus with fresh and pickled veggies, rolls with bacon jam and honey butter) were well executed and incredibly tasty. The mains were just okay. I had a spinach salad with strawberries and chicken that wasn't that different in taste or quality than what you could get at the Cheesecake Factory across the street. My co-workers got the Burrata salad and Turkey Burger with sweet potato tots. The tots were very good, the burger was okay and the Burrata would have been great had we not found a hair wrapped up in the prosciutto half way through. Yuck. It happens in restaurants, I know, and they comped it for us, which was awesome. But it just capped off a "meh" experience with even more "meh". For the price, the service and food should be pretty stellar, they were not.

We got there at noon. We had six people. I told the staff we had a hour. Our lunch did not come out for 45 mins. My plate came out 10 mins before everyone else so I had to eat cold food. The chef came out and say sorry for delay but the food was cook to perfection. Four people order burger one order medium rare, two medium, and one well. The burgers were all well.

What was supposed to be a 'proper' dinner didn't end up that way. The dinner menu only had appetizers, salads and burgers which is not reflective of the menu on their website and on OpenTable - the pasta and the mains were missing. Picture bar or fast food.
I also had to flag the waitress down twice for a refill of my water. The service was very slow especially because the place wasn't packed. For about $50 a person(no appetizers or dessert), it's not worth it for such a limited menu.

We had a party of 10. At $50 per person for Father’s Day brunch it was not all that great . They had one person doing omelettes and cutting roast ( which was dry) and she would not multi task at all. She even tried to argue with one of her coworkers about not having help, might I add it wasn’t that busy. The only great thing was the orange juice. I just wasn’t wowed and I really wish there were more choices for food. They had lots of olives and cheese and there was this pastry (like pop tart) that’s was good. I wouldn’t have complained if it was for $25. Staff was nice.

We grabbed the last reservation at 3:00pm. By 3:15 they were starting to breakdown and close food stations. They said they could still get us anything we wanted but that made us feel rushed and it was not a good look or feel. The camera person then told us they were leaving so if we wanted a picture taken we needed to do it now. That made us feel rushed once again. The picture company was nice but still felt rushed and had to put our food down to go take the picture. My wife was on the verge of crying. The servers are the ones who saved the day from being a complete failure in being overly kind and getting us anything we wanted. The managers didn’t seem to care.

If you are going to serve a buffet, you should/must wait until the final table has paid and left before you start breaking stations down. If you can’t wait to start closing down stations, then offer the appropriate time slots so this doesn’t happen again. Especially when we were paying $95 per adult.

We were the last table to leave and looking around we noticed employees and maybe some managers as well standing there in groups obviously waiting for us to leave. That was pretty uncomfortable as well. I peaked through one of the doors into the area where the brunch was about a minute after we walked out and saw all the employees hovering around the food. I guess it was their time to eat. We did get a break in the bill. However, we will not be going back!!!!!!

My husband and I dined at Trade Root Restaurant & Lounge for Easter Brunch. It is located in The Whitley, a Luxury Collection Hotel, among the Marriott Bonvoy family of hotels. The Luxury Collection is a treasure (We have stayed at Las Alcobas in Mexico City and St. Anthony in San Antonio.)! The Brunch was in the ballroom with its gorgeous chandeliers and sconces. A marvelous pianist provided music. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. A large selection of varied and delicious food (The Prime Rib was REALLY Prime Rib, unlike some places, and the Pâté was among the best I have tasted.), beverages (The Peach Bellini was perfect.), and desserts. Of course, the Easter Bunny was there, and available for photos. Highly recommend Trade Root Restaurant & Lounge Brunch.

Trade Route is not even your above average breakfast buffet. This review is for Sunday brunch service 1:00pm. If you're interested, I previously reviewed The Whitley's Thanksgiving Service, which is what your TR reservation will be for on Holiday days (hint: are there still reservations available???).

Trade Root provides the best service in a sublime diner atmosphere. It in no way resembles the former Ritz-Carlton Cafe, but it is easy to recognize the level of service and oh, the food. The bar has a short menu and may become my new hangout.

Although we were seated for the last hour of "brunch," every item we found on the roomy tables were fresh and fully stocked. We were knocked over at the thoughtful, fresh and healthy selection in front of us. We also notices what was not included: the breadth of starchy, floury, sugary and syrupy carbo-caloric attractions on any other breakfast bar. Yes, there was a small selection of house-backed pasteries and esoteric-and-wonderful jams. The omellette station is also a carving station.

The very BEST thing about this "buffett" is the 7-item short menu of items you order from the server. Ya know the items on other buffets that you crave, but can see they've been sitting too long? No problem at TR, 'cause you order tapas-sized "Buffet Enhancements," starting with superlative, oozing Eggs Benedict. All sooo hot and fresh. Mmmm. See the full menu is within this OT listing.

I made one special request: I learned late that one of our guests was celebrating a multiple-of-five birthday. I phoned the restaurant and asked if they could simply say happy birthday to her, since I know they would cause an Office Space offense upon request. Well, everyone and the F&B manager casually singled her out as they met our group, called her by name, knew it was her 25th and wished her well.
The inclusive price of $49 may eliminate some from this choice, but I recommend that anyone save their STBX money and treat your hungry family to this new gem.

My group was trying to find space for 11 dining at the last minute on a busy night. Fortunately this restaurant was virtually empty and we were seated right away. The nice surprise was how good the food was. My party seemed pleased with their selections. We were too full to try dessert. Prices were somewhat expensive compared to our hometowns, but not too far off for comparative dining options in the area. It’s a hidden gem in a luxury hotel.

Today my wife and I decided to try the fare at the Whitley Christmas Brunch. This was our first visit to this hotel since it became a Starwood property and we were a bit apprehensive about how the quality would compare to what we had been used to when this was the Buckhead Ritz. Without a doubt the experience exceeded our expectations. Several things stood out. First the staff could not have been more attentive and pleasant. Second, while the seating was in a large room, the spacing of tables was well done, the noise level of such a large room was quite moderate and the various food stations were nicely arranged. We sampled many of the food stations and every one was well presented and the food very good. A highlight was the desert station where customers could choose from an incredible array of artistically prepared and exceptionally delicious offerings. Kudos to the Director of Banquets, Mr. Clemons and his staff for a providing a great overall experience.

First of all, we did NOT dine @ The Trade Root Restaurant....we dined in one of the banquet rooms...thus this review is NOT about having an experience in The Trade Root Restaurant. We made our reservation for the Christmas dinner @ The Trade Root Restaurant...but they placed us in a large banquet room. Thus, the ambiance was diminished...in my opinion, when placing diner's in a large banquet room...the two-tops should have been placed on one side of the room and the larger "family style" tables on the opposite side. As we felt as though those folks with families (young children) were a bit too festive (clanking dishes & running about the banquet room). Perhaps, place the two-top tables in the actual restaurant...so they can enjoy their Christmas dinner without children running amok. Perhaps, re-think the table placements....

But on the positive note....the cuisine and food table presentation was simply superb....we loved the many choices and all the servings were scrumptious. The table service was "perfect"...very attentive... very pleasant & highly professional.
