Excellent customer service and delicious drinks!
Social distancing for sure.
Everyone was super nice.
Didn’t like how they had paper menus and not a digital offering.
There was a fly in my drink. Replacement drink took 30 minutes and my date wasn’t served until later. Waiter confused the words “Bavette” and parfait and brought the wrong dish. Food took forever to arrive. Disappointing. Won’t be back
Open table gave us a reservation. Our family met in Austin for our daughter’s 20th birthday. When we arrived at the restaurant- it was CLOSED! Very disappointing.
Always delicious; prompt, covid-careful and courteous service and unique menu items! Love coming here when in town!
We had a choice between sitting outside in muggy weather or inside in a room near the bar. We were the only ones there so very quiet but selection of dishes was only 3 and one was a steak. Nothing very interesting. Lobster filled tortilloni acceptable but dry. Trace used to be more interesting but not now. Just opening after virus shutdown so maybe that is the reason. Disappointed in the food and setting.
Waiter was awesome! Friendly, welcoming, and attentive.
The service was outstanding, the right balance of attentiveness , nice small plates, try the cornbread & beets. Perfect place to grab a bite before ACL.
Enjoyed the atmosphere
Amazing food and service!!!! My server, Ralphie was fantastic. Enjoyed the drag queen show too!
I was really looking forward to this reservation, as I traveled all the way from Temple, TX to Austin to enjoy this restaurant. As I arrived I wasn't even greeted as having a reservation because the place was not busy that early in the morning. The early morning cocktails were on point. As we waited we ordered the donut holes. After waiting for 10 mins, they waiter informed me they were doing beignets instead. I agreed and 15 seconds later they arrived by another server (go figure). When I bit into them they were undercooked and runny on the inside with uncooked dough. I also ordered the breakfast sandwich and asked for the egg to be cooked well done as to not be runny. When it arrived, it too was not prepared to order and came out runny. After addressing that issue I decided to leave and they did not charge me for the visit. I was very disappointed as I was really looking forward to enjoying this place after the many fantastic reviews it received.
Staff was great, food is excellent. Ordered corn bread and was brought corn dog bites instead. Not upset, they were very busy that day and an easy mix up for sure. They apologized and gave us the corn dogs free. And they were delicious. Can't be mad.
It was great for Valentine’s, the food was ok, the price for the food was bit much. But the service and hospitality was amazing.
We went for Valentine’s Day dinner. The food was good but the service was very slow. We appreciated the quiet atmosphere
Keeping in mind we went there on Valentines day and expected it to be busy and more expensive, this small venue had excruciatingly slow service (we saw our waiter three times over two hours) and the food, while very well prepared, didn't make us want to try more of their menu.
A few issues:
-Our waiter, after we had finished our main course and were waiting on our last course for 20 minutes, asked if we had received our main course. (this was at about the 90 minute mark)
-Had to ask for a steak knife after our food was brought out (yes, the dish required it)
-Drinks were empty for 15-20 minutes before staff came by
The biggest issue I would like to point out is that this venue couldn't have had more than 30 tables to tend to, it's a tiny place, which made the slow and sometimes completely missing service even more obvious and painful. The table behind us asked for their desert to go because service was so slow, the table next to us hadn't received their main course as we left, and they had been there for a solid 50-60 minutes. Would I recommend Trace? No, unfortunately not. I've been on the other end of waiting tables myself, and could tell that most of the staff just didn't care.
After 15 min minutes of waiting our hostess asked if we were ready to put food in. We told her we haven’t been waited on yet and we would like to order a drink. Our first plate on the valentines menu we sent back and proceeded to see many other couples send back as well. We had horrible service throughout and had a flat fee of $200 with 20% already included. The hotel valet attendant told us under 3 hours would be $15. We spent maximum 1 hour at Trace and were charged $25 for valet, “that is the cheapest price we have.” We will never be going back.
Not impressed with the service or the food. We had a reservation on the evening of Valentines Day. We were seated promptly upon arrival and sat for about 10 minutes waiting for our server. We ended up asking the couple next to us what they had ordered (it was a limited menu due to it being a Valentine "event"). The first and second round of options were less then spectacular; grilled cauliflower and some kind of bland noodle concoction followed by foie gras. The main was much better (Monkfish and wild boar) but it took over an hour to get there. We ended up having to hurry through the main dish and inhale our dessert in order to make it out of there in time for a show nearby. With a limited menu I was very surprised that the food was so slow in coming out.
Although we had a great time, the meal and service had to be the most dissapointing experience that I have had in years. To start out, it was a set Valentines Menu with selections. The waitress did not explain all of the options and the middle course which we were looking forward to was not served. They served a VERY SMALL version of a charcuterie board a good while after we sat down. There were two tiny pieces of cheese which were good with a ham and I think a chorizo. There was a smear on the plate of something like a fisher weiser chipotle jam on the plate which we wish there had been enough to use paired with the meat and cheeze. They too forever to get our drink order. I could have understood this if we had not been the first couple seated and the restaurant was busy. Then there was a long pregnant pause before the bucatini cacio e pepe first course, which we should have sent back. It was well short of all dente, and was relatively tasteless. I make cacio al pepe all of time that would put that to shame on my worse days. They need to go two blocks down the street to Red Ash and take some lessons. Later we saw other people send in back. Considering the cost, the portion was minuscule. I had the oyster stew which was good but also a tiny taste with the bowl at maybe a 1/3 full. Service was not prompt. The main course was also bland and overcooked. It was a monkfish dish. I love monkfish. Prepared correctly, it has as sweet taste, almost lobsterlike. However their preparation was very rubbery and tasteless and again, we both could not figure out later why we did not send it back. I was starved by this time and just ate it. It was paired with the highlight of the entire meal which was the serrano infused version of a margarita as part of the tequila pairings. The desserts were just ok. Like the rest of the meal, they were disappointing. Not what I would expect. There must be at least 100 places better to eat in Austin!!!!!
Food was not very good and expensive. Enjoyed time for valentines because I was with my love and ambiance was nice. Wine was good.
The happy hour section is freezing due to the AC vent right above and waiter wouldn’t turn it down.
Drag Queen brunch.... was super fun!!
Great food. Great ambience and service!
Happy hour sections freezing because of air vent shoving right over section.
Wonderful dinner! The chef had several specials that night. We stepped out of our comfort zone and tried something new (foie gras brulee) and LOVED it!
Atmosphere was fantastic - classy, trendy vibe. Fun music playing, patio doors open. Perfect for a Sunday Brunch with the girls! Food was delicious - Eggs Benedict, Brunch Burger, Sausage Gravy and Biscuits.. mmm. Price was reasonable for what we got. Bacon Blood Mary - oh heavens! must try! Would recommend.
Restaurant was nice; food was incredible and the service was great! We were hesitant to eat in a Hotel restaurant ( even though it is in the W) but we all said it was the best meal of the weekend!
Bartender also made yummy drinks.
Service was awful, food was overpriced, not very good, cold (although the duck Max n cheese was amazing)
I was shocked with how inexpensive their brunch was. And for the quality of food, atmosphere and service, it was an amazing deal. The bacon Bloody Mary was so good. We will definitely be back again for brunch.
Excellent shrimp and grits
The prices on the menu were cheaper than the bill so it was more expensive than anticipated. Overall the food was excellent.
We had a Pri-Fixe 4 course New Year’s eve dinner. The first two courses came at reasonable intervals. The last 2 were 30 minutes in between. I like leisurely dining but close to 3 hours for 4 courses is a bit much. The food was variable quality. Both our “Wagu” steaks were tough. We didn’t see our server for the last 45 minutes we were there and we were cashed out by the management staff.
Out of both entrees we came for. Disappointing but still great food. Loved the pumpkin soup
Very cute vibe and great music! The patio looks like it's going to be poppin' in the summer.
It was a little empty when we decided to have brunch but I think it was due to the fact that it was a holiday weekend. Nonetheless, Lamont was a great and attentive waiter and we had the following:
Quail and waffles
Salmon eggs benedict
We were all happy with our meals and drinks and will definitely be coming back.
We have a wonderful Xmas dinner there.
Christmas Dinner with my Lovely Bride. Our waiter was Jordan and his was polite and professional. We were visiting Austin for the Holidays and were very pleased with the service and restaurant staff. Thank you.
We had Christmas Lunch. It was amazing and Kate was great!!
Enjoyed Christmas day brunch with family. Trace offered a set 4 course menu with a choice from 4 items in each course. Although Trace's seating is quite crowded with tables very close to another, seating for the day was adequately spaced out.
