Delicious food, great service, beautiful location. Food on the pricer side. $10 Valet parking but the price jumps after 3 hours.
The restaurant was not busy on a Tuesday night but it was a nice change from the loud, frantic restaurants around town. We enjoyed a few craft cocktails at the bar and then had a lovely meal. The Wagyu beef and special scallop entrees were fabulous. Service was attentive and they recognized my husbands birthday with a drink and slice of dessert just because the bar tender overheard us mention that it was his birthday - not because we asked. Nice decor. Very pleasant evening.
Fun atmosphere for a Sunday! Great food and service!
We booked a table for two for Trace's special Thanksgiving Menu, $65 pp, with wine pairings, $25 pp. The bill, with tip, was $300 and the whole experience was a big disappointment.
Table: Uncomfortable, one person had a chair, which was ok, the other was seated at a long, shared bench behind the 2-top. The bench had a cushion but a very deep seat, so it was impossible to eat with back support - choose one or the other, not both.
Food: Good, starters were smoked beetroot tartare and cauliflower soup, both delicious. Main was Beef Wellington, cooked medium rare, on a bed of mashed potatoes and green beans. The beef was well cooked, but served cold. The pastry around the beef was under cooked and doughy, the potatoes and green beans were delicious. Desert was a pumpkin creme brulee tart, there was nothing "brulee" about it, it was a small round pumpkin pie 3 inches diameter 1 inch thick, and not very tasty.
Wine: We first opted for the pairing, three glasses of very interesting wines one for each course. What they didn't tell us until the wine was served is it was three 3-ounce pours, essentially only a taste or two of each wine, certainly not enough to accompany a course in a meal. We asked for the pairing to be taken off our bill and we ordered a bottle nice bottle of super-Tuscan red. We expected 4x "restaurant markup" to $70, Trace prices it at a whopping $89 per bottle.
Service: Our waiter was completely green and inexperienced, didn't explain the menu, didn't explain the wine pairing, didn't mention that we could order side dishes - we saw them later on the card, but it was too late. Our first bottle of wine came out corked, our waiting didn't know what this meant and looked at us like we were crazy to ask for another bottle.
In summary: I feel disappointed and ripped off. Many of our friends had been to Trace previously for dinner and recommended it. We certainly won't.
Great service, outstanding food!
The Chef even came up with a vegan dish for one in our party, at last moments notice.
What a great experience in culinary arts. Everything was excellently prepared and tasty. The cajun lollies were phenomenal as well as the pumpkin soup!!
We shared the charcuterie board. Unlike at most restaurants, the "Market Fare" was a substantial selection of cheeses, pates, mustard, conserve and toast. Our server happily brought us extra toast. All we needed after that was a salad. A great meal!
Excellent service. The lighting could have been more pleasant. I found the lights a bit harsh.
The bar was lively, but quite separate from the dining area. TV s in bar area. Servers were friendly.
New menu is a bit too Chef-y for me but everything we ordered was outstanding.
They’ve drastically changed one of the dishes on the breakfast menu. It’s disappointing to order the same thing every time but get something different, depending on the server, which kitchen actually makes the dish, etc.
Lack of consistency is a sign of poor leadership in the Food & Bev team.
The restaurant also seems to have attempted to cheat us out of the Open Table points (1,000 point bonus table), by “canceling” our reservation 40 minutes after we arrived.
We arrived ordered drinks and then informed almost half the menu wasn’t available including 3 of the main courses , paid for drinks and left
Service was excellent and food was great. Somewhat limited menu though.
Our food took a long time to arrive and one of the dishes wasn't done correctly. Food is average. Price is high.
We visited Trace for a drag brunch, so the loud noise level was to be expected. Table service, food, and show were excellent! Unfortunately, the event information was extremely unclear. We arrived an hour earlier than the show start (10:30 versus 11:30) and Trace has a 2 hour table time maximum. The hostesses weren’t very friendly upon arrival and seemed overwhelmed/out of sync. We will definitely be back!
Ambiance is a bit tired and dirty. Food was good but not on par with price. Cocktails very expensive for nothing memorable. Overall, disappointed.
This was my second time eating at Trace and they never fail me when it comes to brunch. The food is delicious, the drinks are great and the atmosphere is very energetic. We had a Lizzo themed brunch and there was an amazing DJ playing lots of great hits, coloring sheets that were Lizzo and ACL themed, a photo booth and funny tweets you could sift through and decorate your table with. This was a great time and can’t wait to return again.
The space was decorated so fun! Food was great as well. Will definitely be back again.
Went to Drag Brunch to celebrate a friend's birthday and literally had the worst service of our lives. We were ready to throw down for drinks but we could NOT get a waitress to help us if our lives depended on it. We were able to get 1 round of drinks for a THREE HOUR SHOW - that's how horrendous the service was. Unreal at the lack of service - have truly never seen anything like it before. Such a shame as the Drag Brunch could be so much fun but not when you're begging to get a drink from the wait staff. Will never go back :(
Hostess was incredibly rude and not at all accommodating when we asked to add an extra person. Totally understand it was a crowded day and tables were by reservations but come on...you can add an extra chair and not make a big deal about it. Our extra person wasn’t even eating. He just needed a place to sit at our table. It wasn’t until we said this was not up to the Westin’s level of service did she agree to get a chair but not without an eye roll and saying “Whatever” when she walked off. We weren’t trying to be difficult and the extra person was unexpected - he wanted to surprise his mom for her bday.
The waiter is what turned the whole experience around for us. He brought the extra chair with a smile and the rest of the service was exceptional.
Food was not worth the price. The staff were nice though.
It was fine. Oddly empty given there was an event nearby and all other restaurants in the area were booked solid for times before the event. The food was fine. During dinner our service was actually outstanding, My main complaint is after dinner. We went to get our car from the hotel valet (Trace is in the W), and no one told us we needed to have our claim ticket validated to get a discounted rate. It was a hike back to the restaurant from the valet in 100 degree heat. It just would have been far more professional for Trace’s host or even our server to ask if we had valeted our car. Even the valet who took our car could have told us when we said we were eating at Trace. Just a lack of service you’d expect from the W. Truth be told, it’s kind of a hipster hotel, so maybe they are just used to most of their customers using Uber, lol.
Good vibe for Sunday Brunch. I had great service don’t pay for parking in Sunday’s because they are all free. You can get a token at the lounge which is close to the hotel
Such an odd place. Quiet and peaceful to start Sunday brunch only to turn to deafening questionable music at decibels a rock concert couldn’t achieve. The food at this place, like most anything else associated with a W Hotel, strives mostly to be trendy while merely succeeding in being overpriced. The green chili jalapeño hash was loaded with very hot jalapeños, but little hash all of which could have fit on one of the dainty halves of cold overly moist toast. The mimosas didn’t involve fresh orange juice of any kind and were served in tiny glasses Barbie would have appreciated in her doll house. I can’t say the meal was bad, because the sample sizes we were served seemed at least okay overall. But there is so much better in Austin that is both memorable and a better value without destroying your hearing or the mood with what they claimed was music.
Good. Very good.
Service was extremely slow. It took almost 20 minutes for someone to come by. We waited it out because at least our waters were filled and we weren't in a hurry. Tables that were sat after us got their food and drinks before us. I thought the price of the drinks were fair and the food was good but nothing to write home about.
We enjoyed the foos. The service was slow and disorganized. Kudos to the waiter for getting our complicated order right without taking notes. We were disappointed that the manger would not let us expand our reservation to 6 when the restaurant had plenty of room the entire time we were there. The host tried to help but the manger would not budge.
Really yummy restaurant with outdoor seating (dog-friendly). Went for brunch and it was 5 stars.
Highly recommended, if you want a chill place to have some great food, awesome service and wonderful music, check out the patio.
Our server was engaging and helpful and the food was great!
The dinner was enjoyable except our entrees took too long to arrive. We were told that their kitchen was "slammed" and they apologized. We will try again at some point. Food was really good, just not worth the long wait.
Went for restaurant week prix fixe menu. Very well produced and presented. Highly recommend.
I had in my open table account the status
"I like outside seating when the weathers fine". It was over 100 and our table was outside. They tried to find something else but couldn't do I took it because I had event tickets. It was too hot and went I to abandon the table and leave and they found a table I. Aniya mi Ute.
I have erased that comment from my status but this is the first time ever this has happened.
As always, TRACE delivered in every way! Amazing food, delicious cocktails & wonderful service (thank you Mary!!)
Food was very disappointing, drink specials were strange and poor tasting, however the atmosphere was beautiful even with heat. Super fun atmosphere that the hotel set up for a drag brunch for Pride. I just wish the service and food were up to the usual W standard.
I got the Cauliflower soup, Shishito Peppers and the crab cakes... everything was excellent! My server was very attentive!
Disappointing. Ordered the quinoa breakfast bowl, and for $20 was served dry quinoa with avocado, a few sliced grape tomatoes, a few pieces of arugula, and a poached egg. There was a small drizzle of balsamic on the egg, but other than that, it was without seasonings. We were more than halfway through our meal before the waiter stopped in to check on us. Too many choices in Austin to recommend this spot.
Our waitress Mary was outstanding. The Manager stopped by to check up. The Redfish was fabulous but the tenderloin was much tougher than one would expect. It was a celebration for a 60th Wedding Anniversary and a birthday and Trace handled that very well.
Trace is one of my Austin favorite places for a delicious and festive brunch! I love the outside patio - even in the blazing hot Austin summer - it's just so cool. The DJ's are always great and play energetic yet appropriate music for all to enjoy. I'll be back next week!
Our waitress is the best ever. We’ve had her before and she always goes above and beyond her duties and our expectations!!
I think her name is Elli, I know she’s from Honduras! She’s the best!!!!❤️👌🏼
We loved the outdoor patio and our server was amazing!
