Service was excellent. Multiple servers jumped in to bring us drinks and take orders in a timely manner. When we mentioned sharing dishes, they automatically split the plates.
The food was not nearly as good as we hoped. We ordered the lamb skewers to start and were very dissapointed that they were tasteless and slightly greasy pieces of meat. There was no other flavor to the meat and a sprig of Rosemary on the plate.
Our second dish was a salad with two small curls of ricotta, tomatoes, and arugula. The arugula was dry, no dressing, and could have been pulled out of a bag. The tomatoes were not the worst, but not the best either. Nothing stood out at all in the salad, and as I said, no dressing.
The drinks were delicious. We ordered mojitos, a citronella, and a margarita.
We also ordered the gnocchi and the special lamb shank. These dishes were better than the first two, but the poor start wasn't overcome. The gnocchi was a bit too sweet.
Tables are close together, making it difficult to have any privacy on the date.
Good food and service . Not too thrilled about the seating where we were nose to nose with other tables for two on each side of us. Would have appreciated a little elbow room and privacy, which a little more thoughtful arranging could probably accommodate
Greta was the best! My husband loved the spaghetti....we'll definitely return!
The server was very friendly and informative. Food was excellent. Definitley a place we will share with other friends.
The restaurant was fantastic with one important exception. I made reservation with Open Table and requested a booth. When we arrived I was told by hostess that she could not seat me at booth for two people. They were reserved for four. Well one booth was occupied with two people and there were two vacant booths the entire time we were at the restaurant. She stuck us at the right side end table in the corner which I objected. At 1 pm the restaurant was not full.
My reservation request should have honored as has been in the past visits.
Amazing fettuccine with ragu...the best I have had since my grandmother's from years ago. Dense, flavorful, just the right balance. Couldn't stop eating. I'll be back for that one again!
Trabocco exceeded expectations. The food, wine and cocktails were all delicious and well-described by the waiter. Service was great and we felt like we would like to return soon and tell our friends about this find.
Loved the octopus and potato appetizer and the mezzo e mezzo [half calzone and
half pizza] and the osso bucco special. Not wowed by the pasta bolognese.
Long wait for our creme brulee dessert. Otherwise all good.
2nd time having lunch. Love the restaurant enough to drive in from walnut creek. Ordered salad, ravioli and fettucini bolognese...same as we ordered our first visit. Unfortunately, all needed more seasoning. Pepper for salad and salt for the 2 pasta dishes. They don't put in salt or pepper on the table. We should have asked the wait staff for it. But you expect proper seasoning and we certainly had it our first visit. We still love the restaurant. We will go back for sure.
Food is fantastic. Food menu is tough out. Love the cocktail list as well.
Front room welcome was warm.
Noise level is above average.
I will be coming back and have already recommended the restaurant to 5 different people. It's great to have something of this caliber in Alameda.
Easy to get to, lots of parking, good food and service, reasonably priced.
Trabocco is one of my favorite restaurants that I return to over and over again. I especially like to take my friends for a special occasion. The ambience is chic and inviting, the food is consistently delicious and the staff is warm, friendly and attentive to making sure your dining experience is a good one.
Trabocco is our favorite spot to dine with friends. Always good food and service and a warm welcome from the chef/ owners. Pleasant outside dining; inside dining can get a bit noisy for us oldies.
Excellent fish. Go at least 10 times a year. Very consistent!
Always love their Milano mules, food is also great. Nothing but positive experience for me.
Alway enjoy a meal at Trabocco! Friendly and attentive staff. Giuseppe is always available to say hello.
We each had a pasta dish - they were outstanding. Stylish interior, pleasant outdoor seating. We'll be back.
All I can say is that while Trabocco is kind of pricey for me, I have never felt that it wasn't worth the money.
The noise level was extremely loud. We could not converse unless we shouted.
I've been to Trabocco a couple of times now and each time has been a phenomenal experience. This last visit I ordered a wide variety of items including their Chitarrine al Cacao pasta dish made with house-made pasta, cocoa powder and rabbit ragú; this was to die for. For the main event I ordered one of their current specials (dated June 2017), this savory porchetta dish that could have been enough for two people. Oh and the pumpkin crème brulee was decadent. Last but not least, the service is outstanding with this last experience being particularly memorable. I felt our server was really in tune with our conversation about dinner that evening.
If you love Italian food and are in the area, come check this place out.
A friend recommended Trabocco as a must try for East Bay dining. Trabocco did not disappoint. From the moment we entered we experienced great customer service. The hostess has us seated right a way. Our waiter came over introduced himself and quickly took our drink order. He was very attentive throughout the meal. The appetizers (Crudo and Calamari) were delicious and plentiful and transitioned well into our main courses of Porkchetta and Bass. To end our richly delicious meal we had coffee and flourless chocolate cake...amazing. We will be back soon and this time with a few friends.
Because we live in San Carlos, Alameda requires a trek through heavy traffic that we would not make for ordinary restaurant fare. But, to celebrate another family birthday with Trabacco's many extraordinary culinary delights is always well worth the effort. Our party of five -which included a New Yorker with access to excellent, authentic Italian dining in Manhattan, Astoria and the Bronx - was recently treated to a number of delicious and artistically presented entrees and desserts, served by friendly, attentive wait staff. As we exited, the chef waved and thanked us for coming, a nice end note to a perfect experience.
great experience. Waiter was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
As usual the food was wonderful and the wait staff excellent.
The butternut squash ravioli incredible and the pizzas perfect!
Came here to celebrate my 40th birthday planned by my wife. Had a private room and food was delicious but even better was the courtesy and attentiveness of the server(s). Came to check on us very often and was very polite and professional. Great job and will definitely come back again soon.
My daughter and I sat at the Chef's bar. Guiseppe is a kick! Food was awesome!! Cristina pizza was delectable and we got to watch the Chef hand toss the dough!! The burrata caprese salad - OMG!!
Only thing that bothered me was our server. I was visiting with my daughter as I hadn't seen her in awhile. Our server kept standing right next to us waiting for us to order until I said, "We aren't ready yet but I will let you know." When we were done eating, not quite ready to leave, she cleared our settings and she came right in between us interrupting our conversation. It was busy but clearly she wanted to turn the seats and get us out of there.
Go for the food & ambiance! Hopefully your won't get our server! (Woman with long dark hair wearing turquoise jewelry)
Love the ambiance of the bar, patio and main dining room. Standard but good food. Very lovely to have the owner chef circulate and speak with customers.
The best upscale dining option on the island. Professional service and flawless kitchen execution.
The food was as expected by those of our group who, were familiar with the menu. Others were not in favor of some of the items . The ambience is lively and little on the noisy side but enjoyable. O less. The service was excellent and Owner/chef came out to greet his guest as always.
overall dinning experience was wonderful. food was delicious and service was great. the only concern I have is that with a party of 6 they only have booth seating accommodation. If you have a group with larger adult men or handicap, booth seating is extremely uncomfortable.
Don't be put off by the location: The people at Trabocco know what they are doing. We had pizza (outstanding) and pork chops (incredibly tender and juicy) and carpaccio (just perfect). Next time we might sit in the bar area for a more intimate experience (it's a little loud) but overall a great find!
Food and service was outstanding. Great place for special occasions.
We had a wonderful dinner here for my twenty-fifth anniversary with my good friends from L.A. My husband and I had the very succulent duck and our friends had the yummy seasonal salmon and steak. Friendly, professional service and a nice atmosphere that can get a bit loud. The chef presented us with a tiramisu on a plate decorated with Happy Anniversary! We'd go back any time.
The eggplant ragu was lacking in eggplant! But the roasted root veggies were terrific.
This is an excellent neighborhood restaurant in Alameda. Lunch and dinner are both good and you can eat at the bar if they are booked. It may be the best restaurant in Alameda.
This place has great food! They have menu items I've never seen before (swordfish carpaccio!) and they are delicious. We've been there for lunch and loved it. It's a very popular place. When we went there for Father's Day, it was very crowded and the staff seemed a little pushed. For any normal day, I would recommend it without hesitation.
We sat outdoors on a rare balmy summer night where the entire ambiance was relaxed and lovely. Inside seemed higher energy but attractive. Cocktails are reasonably priced and very well made. Service was warm but serious. The dishes we had were very good and a good value. We'll be back for more!
Best lasagna I have ever eaten. Nice ambiance. Very attentive staff.
Our waiter Marshall was amazing! He made our dinning experience super special by buying us a dessert for my parents' anniversary, and a pre-Father's Day dinner. It really impressed my family. I would definitely go back - this place is an Alameda gem!
We really thought the food was so delicious. The service was better than 5 stars. We will be back many times again!
