About Trabocco

Trabocco brings something new and exciting to Alameda. Chef-owner, Giuseppe Naccarelli presents a seasonally inspired menu of classic Italian dishes with a modern twist, influenced by the cuisine of his native region of Abruzzo.
A Trabocco is a unique fishing pier found along the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Everything was incredible, as always. The kitchen is great at accommodating special requests. My daughter ordered gnocchi, but wanted a different sauce than was listed on the menu. No problem. Marshall was our server and was friendly and attentive. And of course, Chef Giuseppe sang to me for my birthday.

Highly recommend!

Not traditional Italian. Very nouvelle. Good and fresh tastes but not Italian EXCEPT that the Bolognese sauce was just like Nonna's.

Experience wasn't what I expected. Apparently Wednesday at 8pm is a busy time, so the wait for my food was long and the quality of the food wasn't up to par because they were rushing the cooking.

We've been here many times. This visit was a bit disappointing. Service was superb but some of the food was lacking. The oxtail ravioli didn't have much oxtail in it and the chicken contadina was oddly flavored although juicy and well-cooked. The seafood stew had plenty of seafood but the sauce didn't seem as assertively flavored as before. Another nit-pick---the octopus appetizer was very good but more of a potato dish than octopus.

Our second meal here and it was excellent. Don't know why it took us (Alameda residents) so long to go.

Delicious food and great service. Stopped by for Alameda restaurant week and price fix menu. Good portions. Great service. Yummy food. Price is a little higher than your average restaurant but the food is high quality and worth it.

I took my girlfriend here for our one year anniversary and had the BEST time! The food was delicious and the waiter was a lot of fun. At the end of the night the chef brought us a happy aniversary slice of cake. I love this place and will definitely be coming back.

Great Oakland Restaurant week prix fixe - grilled salmon on grilled polenta one of the best. Good cocktails & wine list.

Food was below average compared to most Italian in the East Bay and food was also very over priced. Prix Fixe consisted of tiny salad and crab cake that were both tasteless. Services was average. Overall I would avoid as there are some many better options in Oakland and Berkeley.

Enjoyed the meal. Met friends, Chuck and Susan. They were celebrating their 38th anniversary. Trabocco made a big deal of it and the chef/owner came over to serve the desert and wish them well. A very friendly touch. Will go again.

We have eaten here twice. Both times the noise level was so loud that I could not hear the waiter explain the specials or answer my questions without shouting. Girlfriend ordered a pasta dish and it was good. Very tasty. I ordered the chicken dish and it was as dry as a bone. Even difficult to cut. The veggies and potatoes were dry as well. Wine selection and quality was very good.

This is my third visit to Trabocco. The food is so fresh and delicious, without being overly salty or garlicky. Service was excellent. We enjoyed speaking to the chef as he made sure to meet everyone. What a wonderful restaurant to have at this location - not a chain, but an individually owned fabulous place.

Trabocco is the first restaurant I take newcomers to, particularly those from San Francisco who think there's no fine dining in Alameda. The menu is varied and perfectly executed, and everything from the soups to the salads to the excellent ravioli dishes are made fresh. The portion sizes are perfect, neither too small nor too large. The owner, Guiseppe, personally visits every table to greet diners. Trabocco's standing in the community is supported by its participation in Alameda's first ever Restaurant Week in 2018.

Tucked in a shopping center behind Trader Joe’s is this wonderful restaurant with extremely friendly and attentive employees. The spaghetti with seafood was very good and in a light red sauce. The lunch portion is just that. It was barely enough.

Great spot for fine dining! Service is excellent, and the food is delicious. Only trouble is with so many daily specials, it's hard to decide on what to get!
To start: old fashioned and faction stout - both were good, off to a good start.
Since there were complimentary bread (warmed, light crispy crust and fluffy inside, with olive oil and balsamic oil for dipping), we didn't get an appetizer or salad.
Entrees: Fettucine Bolognese - simple classic dish done perfectly; the pasta is made on-site (you can see them making the pasta); rotisserie special which was porchetta (pork belly, pork shoulder and a third part which I can't remember) with roasted brussel sprouts, potatos and cauliflower; so tender and well seasoned.
Dessert: tiramisu satisfied our cravings, but it was a little on the dry side and the flavor was a little lacking.
Overall, it was a great experience, from the service to the food to the ambiance. Definitely recommend and looking forward to return!

Trabocco offers some of the best upscale dining in Alameda, and some of the best Italian food in the Bay Area. Located in the busy South Shore shopping center, it offers a welcome respite from the crowds. The space is large and inviting, the dishes are expertly prepared, and the owner Guiseppe personally visits every table during every meal.

New Year's Eve had an excellent dinner with friends. We requested a quiet area and we were seated in a private dining room with 1 1/2 hours till a party was arriving. Much quieter than main rooms. Never hurts to ask! We all loved our meals: roast chicken with winter vegetables, wonderful ravioli, fresh and moist sea bass, seafood spaghetti.

It only gets 3 stars because there was paper in my food. I ate most of the pasta and rabbit dish and really enjoyed it, but near the end there was some sort of paper in it. They did the right thing and at least gave me the plate for free. Everything else was good, especially the calimari, which is light and comes with plenty of lemon. The lobster and shrimp soup I had was just OK though. The prices seemed very reasonable as well.

They do sit everyone near each other even when the restaurant is empty though, when you just want to sit near a window alone. Heard another patron complain of the same thing.
