Probably the best Mexican food on the island. Highly recommend!
Food was not good and would not recommend going to this restaurant while on the island. Service was good, but came in close to closing and service was rushed to get us out and food was low quality.
Always a great meal at TR; the food, service, and ambiance was awesome! We look forward to returning!
Very, very slow service! It was about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table for our drink orders and then our food took about 45 minutes to arrive. I received my meal about 10 minutes before my husband did, so by then my meal was cold.
Have been to TR many times and always look foreword to the brunch. Entrees came 15 minutes apart. We waited for desert 25 minutes and finally gave up. We will think long and hart before or if we return
We arrived on time for our reservation and still had a 20 min. wait to be seated. It was yet another little while before we were acknowledged by our server for the evening. This was not outstanding, nor would I recommend this eatery due to the service.
Great guacamole and good service. A little pricey but would go back
Tortilla Republic is a must do for us on each of our trips to Kauai. We love it both upstairs & down. My husband had chicken fajitas and I had a chicken quesadilla . We both enjoyed our food immensely and I took half of mine home. Service was excellent and friendly. I would describe the menu as “nouveau Mexican “ — dishes like our more traditional Mexican restaurants back home but definitely with a twist. A nice addition this time was a complimentary basket of chips & salsa.
We visit Tortilla Republic several times every year we visit Kauai. The food, service, and background music and ambiance are very enjoyable upstairs or downstairs.
We especially love the ensalada sambrosa and enchilada carne dishes.
Good food in an outdoor mall setting. Service was great.
Over priced and too loud. Food wasn’t great either.....
The guacamole is amazing! We enjoyed watching the activity around us, and service was attentive.
This visit was just OK. Very busy, service a bit slow, eggs overcooked.
Cool place. Nice food, fresh ingredients. Drinks were great. Our server was very nice and quite attentive.
Definitely one to our in your list when in and around Kihei. Fresh and creative Mexican and super friendly and efficient staff.
OU family's favourite in Poipu! Outstanding food, great loccation, great service, huge drink menu and options.
the food was cold and tasteless. Usually hot and good. Very disappointed in my fourth visit
recently visited upstairs and the food wasn't tasty and lukewarm and service not great
Taco Tuesday was the bomb!
We really enjoyed our dinner tonight after eating upstairs several days ago. Dante served us again and definitely elevated the experience. For drinks we had the Perfect and the Local, and enjoyed both. For the meal I had the hamburger, loaded with the fixings and wasn't disappointed (even considering we were eating Mexican). My wife had the pescado burrito and enjoyed it.
Ate here twice during our vacation. Tacos and burritos were great and so were the house margaritas.
One of our favorite spots to dine on Kauai. For a vegetarian, the well-prepared and very tasty options at TR is refreshing and greatly appreciated. On line reservation experience was quick.
Great food & drinks. The patio seating downstairs while nice, doesn't have much of a view other than of a few other restaurants & shops, but to be expected given the location inside a mall.
Four of us went. The chips & salsa were very good. The chicken quesadilla was very greasy. The fajitas were good, not great. The tacos also good, not great. Lastly the gaucamole was very good. Excellent service. My daughter ordered crispy taco, they quickly changed it to crunchy.
TR is really a great restaurant and has really great food, however, their happy hour used to be so much better. Not only did they raise the prices on food and drinks, but they downsized the portions. Their happy hour used to be so much more worthwhile, now it has just become another expensive tourist trap.
I wasn't impressed at all with this restaurant. I was able to easily make reservations and we were seated promptly. Our server came over about 5 minutes or so after we were seated and took our appetizer order and said she would get someone to get water for us. We received our appetizers and still hadn't received water. I had ordered the queso which was supposed to be jack and queso cheese but it was yellow like cheese wizz and didn't taste like it should at all. For a small cup of cheese with a little tomatoes and peppers costing $8. it should have been good. I would not recommend the queso to anyone. Our server came back for our dinner/drink order at which time we still hadn't received any water even though we were basically done eating the appetizers. The restaurant was busy but there were still open tables and the service seemed slow. I thought the food was overpriced for what you get but this restaurant is located in a high tourist area so it is what it is. The food was rather bland also. I ordered a carne asada burrito with ranchero sauce and the sauce tasted like canned tomato sauce with no seasonings. I won't be going back.
While we understood it was a busy night, the service was lousy. We had a reservation but had to wait to be seated while others were in line - hostess should have seated reservations ahead of those who just showed up.
It took over 10 minutes for us to get chips and salsa and any greeting from our waiter. Receiving glasses of water took a little less time than that . While our food was incredibly fast to arrive at the table, My margarita came after dinner was served, and my husband never got his drink, even though it was on our tab (which we corrected. ) The food portions were not generous for the price. We felt the Food was decent, nothing special.
Just ok servers need to pick it up a bit ! Sign said $ 30.00 pitchers of margaritas not it was 45.00!
I met my 2 friends there for brunch. Our service was the only disappointing thing for our afternoon - they just couldn't seem to get the order right, the water and silverware on the table before the meal . . . and follow up service was very poor with the bill being wrong. The server corrected it, but it was all a hassel. But, the food and the drinks were good, our visit was excellent. I'll do it again but maybe sit upstairs.
We ate at the downstairs cantina. The dining experience and the drinks were fine, but the food was somewhat disappointing. It definitely did not have an authentic Mexican taste to it- fresh ingredients but very pedestrian.
We love this spot. It's great for a fun night out with friends or with kids. Amazing food options with the best margaritas I have ever had. You must try TRs when you are in Kauai.
Great place for casual Mexican dinner in Kauai
Taco Tuesday was a joke. The special street tacos were small and the margarita pitched lacked alcohol. Better off ordering off the main menu and a bartender margarita.
Ok food, ok service..
Took a co-worker out and the food was quite a bit nicer than I expected from the typical Mexican food. It was good like food in Mexico not the standard fare that many restaurants serve.
Great, lighter lunch - had the child rubbed catch of the day as a burrito bowl. Tasty and unique!
Great service! Good food and overall nice atmosphere.
We went with friends who live on the island and it was a great place for a relaxing meal.
Very good margaritas. Yummy tacos. Good service. We enjoyed the food and the location. Nice place for a good reasonable meal on kauaii.
We had a very nice brunch. Lots of great food and very good service
Food took too long to arrive. Not a great value for the quality.
