We're serving up fun, military-inspired specialty cocktails and a wine program emphasizing Northern California. All libations have a focus on small producers and growers - our regional rotations will explore all the best California has to offer.
Most importantly, we're offering up our pride & joy, our home-made beer - Toy Soldier IPA, brewed on-site in our brewery downstairs below the bar.

We all go various sandwiches and they were good, but nothing to really go back for. We loved their appetizers so I would definitely go back for drinks and apps. Maybe their entree's are better?
Great food! Cool atmosphere.
It’s my go to in Belden place. Good is great and so is service
Birthday dinner upstairs with a group of 8. We felt like we were well taken care of and the food was quite good. I especially enjoyed the short rib and crab pasta dish.
The Brussels sprout salad is amazing! Food, location, people are great.
Despite having reservations, it seemed as if patrons were herded in and the host, who stood outside, seemed like a carnival barker.
Waiter did not pay full attention to our orders.
Food adequate, liked by the others with me than myself
Food was very poor. I ordered a veggie burger which effectively was mashed up black beans with some spices. The patty was absolutely disgusting - mushy, lukewarm, and just a really bad flavor. I can appreciate having this on the menu, but man if you're going to put anything on the menu at least make sure it's edible. I've had probably a hundred veggie burgers all over the world and I think this is the worst one I've tried.
Service was great.
We will make Toy Soldier a restaurant to come back to during our future trip to San Francisco. My husband had beef stroganoff dish. Our friend & I ordered the sea bass. Our main course choices were beyond our expectations. We also were lucky to be at the restaurant before 6 pm for the Taco Tuesday and drink specials. We made the fish & pork belly Taco specials our mini appetizer. We ended our meal with the corn Creme brûlée and raspberry sorbet dessert. This is a meal that will come up in our San Francisco restaurant recommendations.
Food is good to very good. The range of selections is excellent. The list of starters offers many good options. I would recommend Toy Soldier as a good choice for drinks and bites with friends.
It took us about 8 minutes to get greeted. Everyone that worked there just kept walking past us without acknowledging we were standing at the door. We ordered 2 cocktails and they were awful, we should’ve just selected a wine from their 1/2 off bottle of wine list. The food was just ok and definitely wasn’t worth the pricing. Overall this place has a lot of improvement to do before charging at the price range that they are currently at.
For happy hour I'd recommend this, but they were understaffed for dinner and out of popular items.
Great service! They went out or thier way to make our evening special.
Good but a bit overpriced!
Went with team for Business lunch. Efficient service. Good food. I ordered and ate the crab melt which was very tasty. Others had burgers and salad, both good. Outdoor seating.
They sat us outside on a lovely day, but crammed us next to a couple when the entire patio was open. We had a fairly large group so there was a lot of apologies as each of us tried to squeeze in. Not the best planning!
This place is the best. The food is amazing! Anytime I order I’m never disappointed! Service is always great as well!
I met a friend here for dinner and made it 10 mins before the end of happy hour. We ordered 2 crispy pork belly tacos and the deviled eggs for appetizers - both delicious. For dinner I ordered the fresh dungeness crab spaghetti. The plate had a generous amount of dungeness crab meat - some in chunks and some shredded. It was a little spicy but delicious. I would come back to eat the spaghetti again. The restaurant was a little busy but the service was attentive and friendly.
Food was good, service was so so. We had requested upstairs but were sited downstairs. Rather loud but the food was good. Bar service was slow and we were never ask if we wanted a second drink.
I had the asparagus and burrata salad, plus a bowl of tomato basil soup. All of it was very good, but they were not special or unique.
Toy Soldier was a fun dinner. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food is excellent. I had the deviled eggs - which were spicy and delicious; and the warm Brussels sprouts Caesar salad, which was outrageously good. One other guest had the beef Stronganoff, which he said was excellent. Another had the meatballs as an appetizer, and they were HUGE and tasty. Their beer list is more than adequate; I had a great Czech pilsner that I had never had. We ate in the bar area, because they were hosting 2 different private parties the night we went. But, what put Toy Soldier over the top was the fabulous service. The waitress and bartender were fantastic, incredibly sweet and attentive. It was a really nice experience, and I would highly recommend Toy Soldier!
Excellent menu, well-prepared... Ownership / Management rightfully proud of the place, taking great care to welcome and seat... Service, a tad on the negligent side...empty glasses and bottles can sit for 15 - 20 minutes before one is able to catch the waitress' attention for a refill, and there was no "how is it?" after tasting...thus, getting salt became a quest...
Will definitely return; the food is pretty darn great.
Very disappointing meal. Requested the burger with no dairy to touch the food. The waiter was obviously not listening to what I said and too interested in mimicking my accent! The food arrived with cheese on the burger. I sent it back then after they came back with the burger I noticed the fries had parmesan cheese flakes. Again the food was sent back. Finally the food arrived but my companion had finished her lunch. She enjoyed her meal, unfortunately I couldn’t because the waiter was too lazy to listen.
just recently found this place. Have gone there twice in the past month. Food is really good, but menu is somewhat limited. Look forward to hanging out at the bar sometime soon. staff is very friendly and a real line place. Up stairs was quite but a bit cold, prefer sitting down stairs in the action.
Reserved a table for Valentine's Day dinner. Was told they only had booths in the bar area available ( near the cold door). Several people came in after us and were escorted upstairs. Food was just ok.
Toy Solider is a must to have dinner!!! I would highly recommend this place to anyone because of the high quality of food and service!!!
I had a large group reserved here for my birthday. I called a week before the reservation to confirm a couple things and those items didn't seem to be communicated to the people on-site.
One for example was that I gave a heads-up that my group would want to split the bill in different ways and if that was possible. The person I spoke to on the phone said that was fine and that I just had to let the wait staff know when we got there. The day of when I made the request, the waiters seemed completely surprised by the request and almost did not want to do it unless we divided ourselves by a singles table and a couples table. At least it worked out in the end.
From my group, everyone mentioned the food was so-so. Nothing super impressive, especially for the cost of it. I got the crab spaghetti where the pasta was plain, but crab meat and vegetables were very salty.
Not that I wouldn't recommend Toy Soldier to a friend, but I just had nothing to rave about.
Awesome experience! We had such a great time!
This was ok. Felt like we were being rushed for lunch even though it wasn’t full. The warm Brussel sprout salad sounded better than it was.
Food was okay, service was very slow. Wine & beer selection was good.
I was excited to dine here during restaurant week. We made reservations and was seated right away but this is where it went downhill. The restaurant was not busy at all, there were about 3 other parties inside the restaurant and 3 sitting outside, including us.
My date and I both chose our options from the restaurant week menu and each course took over 30+ minutes to come out. I got the meatballs on the bed of polenta and my date got the wedge salad, my meatballs were slightly cold when I tasted it. Once we finished our first course, it took another 30+ minutes for my second course to come out. By this time, we have been at the restaurant for almost 2 hours. Granted my date and enjoyed our time talking and sipping on our drinks, but I felt that the wait time was unnecessary for a meal that could have been done within an hour max. By the time our dessert came out, I had to stop the waiter to get my check, otherwise, I think we would have been there all night.
Overall, I think the food was okay, nothing like I never had at other restaurants. If this is their standard service speed, I highly recommend staying away from this place.
It was a great spot to try for restaurant week! Great prices and definitely valuable. Would go back when it’s not restaurant week too.
It was extremely loud, we couldn’t even keep a conversation at the table. Could also tell they were very understaffed. Food was good, but very expensive for very small portions.
We went here for restaurant week and the food was fantastic! However, they only had two waitresses on staff for the Friday of restaurant week. These two waitresses were also the two bartenders and two hostesses. We watched all the tables around us get their entire three course meals before we even got our appetizers. The two women were working really hard but I don't know why the management didn't put more people on staff considering the restaurant was filled and had multiple big parties. I wish the service was better because the food was amazing!
Hands down an incredible place to meet! The staff rocks, the food is incredible, and the vibe is spectacular!
We have been to Toy Soldier a few times, and have always enjoyed each experience. Franz and Lio always make sure that we have an amazing time there with interesting food and wine selections with a fun ambiance. We have met some great people there too. Cheers!
Nothing good to say about this restaurant. Seeing the restaurant empty at 7pm on a Saturday night should have been a clue.
Menu was enticing, it was what lured us to Toy Soldier. However, the reality of the food was a real letdown. Steak was over cooked and salmon was under cooked. Waiter must’ve been having a bad day, as he had no personality. Seemed like it was a bother to be serving us. Oh well! Our money is their loss! Won’t be heading back there, ever.
Good basic service and food
The jalapeno, asparagus, crab pasta was awesome and I would also highly recommend the lobster "escargot". The staff was very accommodating of our schedule and all request. Felt like we were in a best friends kitchen all food was completely made to order and came out piping hot and fresh.
When we arrived, we were seated in the quiet upstairs dining area. That quickly changed. It appears that a party had been scheduled for the upstairs dining area. Our quiet birthday celebration turned into a boisterous event with our being the odd couple stuck in the middle. The other diners in the room left quickly. If the management knew a party was coming, why did they put other diners in the room?
The food was ok but the portion size and flavor was not worthy of the price. The service was slow - they were more concerned with serving drinks to the insatiable thirst of the party guests.
